Did anyone watch this?
Sounds horrible to work there!

Agree about Thierry, but Sean is awful to his staff.

eatsleepread · 18/10/2020 22:26

Agreed. And I was also surprised to see a wedding ring on Sean's finger. He has such a bitchy vibe.

Me too!

I totally thought he was gay. But he spoke of his grandson and I saw his wedding ring and I thought oh, I’m a bit wrong.

eatsleepread · 19/10/2020 08:46

Same!
@Crinkle77 good detective work. I did see him on the clip, but didn’t make the connection.

The last 20 mins were sad. They went from the big staff party and all the staff singing “we are family” to an empty building with the lights being turned off when they closed.

The managing director saying they couldn’t take all the staff back on when it re-opened. It only re-opened on the 24th September. It said it had never closed since it first opened.
It said in the last episode that it closed at one point for 3 years for renovation so that can't be true

I wonder if every person who works there gets a complimentary stay? Do they still have to pay for a meal or is that free too? Presumably the expensive cocktails aren't free

And if a guest missed their flight because of a butler would the butler really have to pay for it out of their own money?

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 22/10/2020 14:44

Mary Kate's job is the best cos she doesn't have those other managers breathing down her neck

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 22/10/2020 14:46

Surely Michael would be more confident if Sean wasn't how he is with him and if he didn't make him so scared of him

And I can't believe he was telling him he'd keep him on and giving him feedback where another worker could hear!

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 22/10/2020 14:48

I feel sorry for the staff who couldn't go to the party cos they were working, which is a lot of staff!

It was sad at the end though.
They reopened late didn't they
And with a skeleton staff
I'd be intrigued to know what the situation is now there

@purpleme12 I suppose the cameras were there so no need to insist on privacy for the meeting, I suspect it was done on camera for the drama factor. Usually you wouldn't class shutting for renovation as closing an hotel.... However I am surprised it took them so long to reopen!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/10/2020 20:41

I wondered why they took so long to reopen.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/10/2020 12:24

Yes. I thought Michael would have been better without Sean making him nervous. I'd hate to have him as a boss.

purpleme12 · 23/10/2020 13:46

Me too

OP posts:
IHaveBrilloHair · 23/10/2020 15:25

Agreed, bosses like that made me so nervous that I was much less likely to be comfortable and relaxed in my job, but so much on edge I'd make daft mistakes or be completely wooden.

DigitalChristmas · 17/12/2020 21:48

Did anyone watch tonight’s episode?

icelolly99 · 17/12/2020 23:18

@DigitalChristmas was it a follow up/continuation of the series?

TeaBanditTeej · 17/12/2020 23:26

@DigitalChristmas

Did anyone watch tonight’s episode?
@DigitalChristmas I did! So stressful to work there!
DigitalChristmas · 18/12/2020 01:29

@icelolly99 it was an episode focusing on Christmas Day and New Years Eve. As a pp said beyond stressful for the staff, didn’t help when the Head of the Butlers(apologies I’m not sure of his official title) was disrespectful and aggressive to his new trainee.

lazymum99 · 18/12/2020 09:12

3 Xmas lunch servings one after the other. It all looked like an awful place to work. The head butler was unnecessarily harsh on the new recruit. And why put an untrained butler on the VIP guest.
I was thinking that they would be quite pleased to be furloughed this year and have a rest

Toddlerteaplease · 20/12/2020 20:17

The head butler is unnecessarily nasty to the new butler. He genuinely didn't know there was supposed to be cards with the puddings and got another ear full when he said he'd sort it out. I think I'd resign rather than be treated like that.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/12/2020 20:29

Don't think you could pay me enough money to work there.

purpleme12 · 21/12/2020 23:33

Just watched last week's.
Shaun is still really annoying me
Poor Michael just needs his confidence building i think. He doesn't think enough of himself.

OP posts:
icelolly99 · 23/12/2020 08:56

But we know Sean's relationship with Michael improves as we've already seen beyond this in the episodes that were on a few months ago.
Hotel work is tough...it's definitely not for everyone. When it's a great day it's wonderful...when it's a bad day it can be truly awful...
