Yes, considering the first 2 games took 14 minutes, he has settled down very well.

PrivateSpidey · 16/09/2020 18:57

Well Rafa's not mucking about is he??

I've only just tuned in - well, I saw the very start but then I had to have tea (bad timing by me).

I had to stop watching Grigor's match earlier - the commentary was getting too much for me to handle!!! (No I don't need to know how much Grigor's racquet weighs!! Thanks all the same Grin)

Fizzywinegum · 16/09/2020 19:05

The Prime commentators are getting a bit AC like aren’t they Spidey? Grin

I’m surprised at how quickly Rafa has got into this match - he can sometimes be a bit of a slow starter but he’s doing well to say that he hasn’t played a match since February!

Raahh · 16/09/2020 19:06

He definitely seems to be playing pretty well, considering.

I suppose having your own academy to practice in helps- but it is not the same as being match fit.

Having said that, it's not the first time he has had a lengthy period away- and at least this time he has not been injured, he has been able to play.

Starksforthewin · 16/09/2020 19:14

Raahh I’m madly jealous that you have Prime on your TV. I’m suffering with the laptop. 😡 How I wish my DP was tech minded but we are a useless pair together!

Tsitsipas is turning into a bit of an under achiever, isn’t he?.

I’m not a fan of Rafa as the human highlighter pen. Come on Nike, give him some nice, non luminous kit!

Raahh · 16/09/2020 19:25

Starks I agree that Tsitsipas runs a bit hot and cold. But I suppose that could also be said of Zverev at times. Stef is definitely a solid clay player- the first time he came to my attention was when he played in Barcelona the other year, and got to the final.

We acquired a smart tv from dh's brother,(he had inherited an even bigger one) that has Prime on it. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't Grin.

Raahh · 16/09/2020 19:26

And no, the hightlighter pen yellow is not good. And I prefer him sleeveless Wink

Raahh · 16/09/2020 19:28

Well, that was the perfect start for Rafa really.

Fingers crossed it is like that throughout.

Raahh · 16/09/2020 19:29

oh blimey- Anne is wearing a bright yellow dress too. Grin

Raahh · 17/09/2020 13:08

I'm watching Muguruza/Gauff- they have been trading breaks a lot.

I might switch to the Raonic match when it gets going.

Raahh · 17/09/2020 15:21

Double faults ago-go today. Gauff, Muguruza and now Raonic.

Raahh · 17/09/2020 18:28

Azarenka has started very well.

PrivateSpidey · 17/09/2020 18:35

She has. Against the no3 seed as well.

This is the first match I've watched so far today...

Raahh · 17/09/2020 18:39

I am really pleased to see Vika doing so well lately.

But I had forgotten how noisy she can be!

Raahh · 17/09/2020 18:56

I am starting to feel sorry for Kenin, though!

Raahh · 17/09/2020 19:12

Wow. Great performance for Vika, have to feel sorry for Kenin.

Raahh · 17/09/2020 19:14

I think Greg is being a bit harsh - Kenin has come from the hard courts to clay, and although she did well last year at RG, it has been over a year.

Vika was just brilliant.

Raahh · 17/09/2020 19:18

Meanwhile, my mate Casper is doing ok too.

Must be all that practising with Rafa Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 17/09/2020 19:25

Go Casper Grin

I’ve not managed to watch any tennis today - will hopefully get to see Rafa and a few others tomorrow

I noticed how noisy Azerenka was in the US open final - it’s almost like a dove cooing or a pigeon (Maybe Andrew Castle could tell us!) I found it quite distracting

kazzaD66 · 17/09/2020 20:00

Just looked at the scores.
Seriously. Azarenka did a double bagel!

Raahh · 17/09/2020 20:13

Vika is noisy.Grin But I am still really thrilled she is doing so well, after all her problems.

Raahh · 18/09/2020 15:08

Casper has beaten Cilic. Which is a good result for him (though Marin is probably not as his best these days).

Raahh · 18/09/2020 16:27

ohSad

Kasatkina mst be injured. I just switched over - the Azarenka match was 6-6, and Kasatkina was being consoled by Vika. Such a shame- she is so upset, but Vika was lovely.

Raahh · 18/09/2020 16:29

Looks like she has done something to her foot/ankle? I feel so sorry for her.

PrivateSpidey · 18/09/2020 16:31

She fell during the tiebreak Raahh - it was a good match, v close (I seem to keep watching Vika these days!).

She was absolutely sobbing in her chair afterwards, it was awful Sad

Hope she's going to be ok.
