If Thiem loses this game then surely this set is gone?...

Raahh · 13/09/2020 22:13

I would think so. Looks like Sascha's set.

Fizzywinegum · 13/09/2020 22:14

Thiem not very happy out there at all - I wonder if his Achilles is still bothering him? He’s got a selection of trainers waiting for him.

I’m really impressed with Sascha though - he’s playing a lot better than I’ve seen him play recently

PrivateSpidey · 13/09/2020 22:14

Trivia time. John Wertheim on twitter has asked: if Zverev (23) wins today, he'll be the youngest men's slam champ since...

I think Delpo?

Mama1980 · 13/09/2020 22:15

I would imagine so.....Dom is looking lost out there

Mama1980 · 13/09/2020 22:17

Yep - I think Delpo too he was 20/21 wasn't he?

PrivateSpidey · 13/09/2020 22:17

Poor Domi. This is quite tough to watch Sad

Raahh · 13/09/2020 22:18

private I would say Delpo. He was 20-ish when he won?

PrivateSpidey · 13/09/2020 22:22

Yes Delpo was 20 when he won. Younger than Djok when he won his first AO I think? Cilic, Stan etc would have all been older.

Mama1980 · 13/09/2020 22:23

Hard to tell if there's something physically an issue for Dom or if he's just being outplayed/the occasion has got into his head.

PrivateSpidey · 13/09/2020 22:30

Mama I know, he usually plays really well in big matches doesn't he, I can't think of another time I've seen him play like this when it's been a final or big match.

Having said that, Sascha is playing really well. "Not to take anything away from him" as commentators would say. He has been really good.

Fizzywinegum · 13/09/2020 22:35

Wow amazing shot from Thiem - Sascha’s serve looking a bit wayward now

Not sure if I’ll be able to stay up for a five setter if it goes that far

PrivateSpidey · 13/09/2020 22:35

Fizzy same here!!

Mama1980 · 13/09/2020 22:44

Sasha has definitely been amazing....
I just wonder what different today for Dom he usually plays really well on the big occasions even if he loses.

Fizzywinegum · 13/09/2020 22:49

Petch said that he could sense a Thiem comeback but even he’s backtracking on that now - he’s no mystic magi Grin

I’m just surprised at how nervous Thiem seems - he’s been in several Grand Slam finals before. Zverev is playing really well - it can’t all be down to a phone call from David Ferrer can it?

Mama1980 · 13/09/2020 22:53

Yep...noticed quite a bit of backtracking from the commentators. Grin

PrivateSpidey · 13/09/2020 23:02

Is this a slight turning point do you think?..

I definitely will not make it if it goes to 5.

Fizzywinegum · 13/09/2020 23:16

Could be Spidey - there have been lots of topsy turvey matches in this tournament. I won’t be able to stay awake if it goes on much longer although would like to see Thiem make more of a match of it.

PrivateSpidey · 13/09/2020 23:26

Same. I'll probably just watch the end of this set...

Fizzywinegum · 13/09/2020 23:40

I think I’m going to bed now - I wouldn’t be surprised if Thiem did win (mystic fizzy) - not many of my previous predictions have been very accurate though!

MajesticWhine · 13/09/2020 23:45

Thiem is standing so far back to receive serve - it gives him very little chance to get into the rallies.

MajesticWhine · 13/09/2020 23:48

Zverev not looking quite so strong, maybe a few more errors. Dammit I have to sleep and leave them to it. This could go either way.

JaneJeffer · 14/09/2020 00:27

I won't sleep a wink until I know who has won!
