Or just more wheelie bin challenges?

Fingers crossed that all goes well for your trip to France magi - bet you can’t wait

I still haven’t watched all of the Wimbledon programme - I had to stop watching when AC appeared (looking foxy in all black! Grin)

I’m intrigued about ‘basting a chicken’ - I can’t imagine who would have said it and in what context!

Also can’t believe all the Henmania - I thought he was treated as a bit of a joke. It was weird how none of the next gen players got a mention - although they didn’t do very well at Wimbledon last year. Stefanos would have been good for an interview!

Fizzywinegum · 11/07/2020 08:58

Just watched the Wimbledon programme and finally solved the riddle of basting a chicken - didn’t expect that! Grin

Tim getting the wheelie bin trophy was hilarious - especially when he showed it to the very small crowd from the balcony. Boris was good fun - he looked a bit puffed out after the wheelie bin challenge!

Raahh · 11/07/2020 09:41

yes, the Hnemania got a bit much by the end. I am quite surprised by just how much they mentoned him- and the very conspicuous absense of the current players, apart from the Big 3. Bit odd.

And where was Hacker, Sue? He would have acedGrin the wheelie bin challenge.

I fast forwarded AC, so I have no idea what he said or why the BBC wasted a few precious minutes on him at the expense of something more interesting.

I'm not bothered about them not mentioning the next generation. It is looking back at past Wimbledons after all. And considering the past champions (mentioning no names, but he's Swedish Grin) were ignored, I'm fine with potential future champions being ignored aswell.

What did Tim briefly say at the start of the programme? Something about the way the Club will do the men's seedings next year? Are they now going to start to replicate the rankings, rather than alter them for the seedings in future?

PrivateSpidey · 11/07/2020 10:49

They've ditched the grass court seeding formula kazza

kazzaD66 · 11/07/2020 13:31

Thanks private
I thought it must have been that.
Didn't they ditch the formula for the women a while back?
It used to make sense when Wimbledon used to play like a fast, traditional grass court and classic clay courters ranked in the top 5 or 10 used to go out in the early rounds (if they even bothered to turn up in the first place!) but that's no longer the case.

Raahh · 11/07/2020 13:46

I agree about the seeding thing, never made sense these days.

It's so funny- last year, to cheer myself up on 'Blue Monday' I watched 'Legally Blonde'...which is the film that has just started on Channel 5! Grin.

I love that film. 'Bend and snap!'.

Aah I love Legally Blonde Raahh - one of my all time favourites!!

Yes they don't have the grass court formula for the women any more do they - it does seem a bit pointless now when there's not as much difference between the surfaces.

Tim must have been busy yesterday, they seemed to make loads of announcements! The prize money thing seems to have gone down well.

PrivateSpidey · 11/07/2020 14:20

Is anyone watching Sue's countdown of the Greatest Finals? It's just started with Ann v BJK at no10.

Raahh · 11/07/2020 14:26

It really is good, about the prize money- shows that they have a good insurance poilicy in place!
Good work there, Tim. Grin

I have started watching- but of course, I saw this match when they showed it the other day Grin.

Not complaining though.

I love the dresses in this match.

Why it seems like only the other day since I saw these matches.

Does seem a bit of a strange way around to do it. Would have made more sense to start the fortnight with a countdown- and then show them.

I would have like Sabatini to have won this.

PrivateSpidey · 11/07/2020 14:52

Yes it would have wouldn't it?!

I reckon the 70s was the best decade for tennis kits and the 90s was the worst.

Raahh · 11/07/2020 14:54

The 90s were all baggy t-shirt, with dubious splodges on the shoulder.

However- the recent Nike kits are going to go down in history for being a bit dodgy. Memorable, but strange.

JaneJeffer · 11/07/2020 14:55

I would have liked that too Raahh. I'm not a fan of Steffi.

DH is flicking to F1, grr.

JaneJeffer · 11/07/2020 14:56

I was just wondering aloud the other day why clothes were so wide in the 90's Grin

Raahh · 11/07/2020 15:04

Oh, Steffi was my favourite. She always played lots of other people I like too, though. I was spoilt in the 90s. I lost interest in the women when it became so dominated by the Williams sister and players who made far too muc noise(I would have loved Clijsters/Henin to stick around longer).

Recently, things have got more interesting again.
