I need to learn the tune on the tin whistle and drive my family insane.

Raahh · 10/07/2020 18:59

Aww.

Now what do I watch?

OP posts:
Raahh · 10/07/2020 18:59

Ok, that's me sorted- Rewind Olympics.

I'll watch any old crap.

PrivateSpidey · 10/07/2020 19:00

Aw I loved that - Isner getting the parcel delivery Grin

Raahh · 10/07/2020 19:00

Jane that's a lockdown challenge right there.

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 10/07/2020 19:09

Yay definitely Jane!

kazzaD66 · 10/07/2020 19:31

Sounds like a good show tonight, from your comments. We're still having dinner, so will watch back later.

Fizzywinegum · 10/07/2020 19:54

Can’t believe we’re already 3 pages into the second non-Wimbledon thread Grin

I haven’t watched the Wimbledon programme yet but it sounds good - got to wait til Tour de France Recycled has finished Hmm

Went to the pub - wasn’t much fun really - seemed like more trouble than it was worth

Raahh · 10/07/2020 19:59

Fizzy oh, that's disappointing (re-the pub).

I don't like the idea of 'booking' a slot. Although dh and I rarely go to the pub- usually my birthday, before going for a meal. And in total we are often out for about and hour and a half. Hmm. We would 'waste' a booking Grin.

I've just seen a segment on the news of some people at a caravan park, at the on site pub- it looked souless- all stood around likethey were playing musical statues, 2 metres apart! Grin. I really couldn't be bothered.

We only used one hour of our two hour slot Raahh - it was the opposite of what a pub trip should be really - we usually just go for a quick drink after work or after a walk but everything has to be planned these days.

Oh well - still got the Wimbledon programme to look forward to. I did actually see the Rafa/Novak match when it was on - I think I had too much wine watching it in a bar in Mallorca and then went back the next day to watch it Sad. Rafa should have won.

Raahh · 10/07/2020 20:11

Fizzy Rafa was so pumped in the 2018 match. I mean, he often is, but I have rarely seen him so animated mid game, the way he was at times in that match.

Curse you, roof.

And Isner.

And Djokovic.

There was a lot to discuss in tonight's episode Fizzy - well, relatively speaking Grin

Sorry to hear about the pub visit. Hopefully things like that will start to get better soon.

I wonder who we'd have been watching in the men's semis today if Wimbledon had happened?

Raahh · 10/07/2020 21:03

Ooh, interesting, Private, who would have been in the semi?

Well, Rafa, (obvs), Medvedev, Thiem and probably Djok. But preferably Tsitsipas.

Although I'm not sure that would work out based on the rankings...

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 10/07/2020 21:31

Raahh you're forgetting about the box office player who would definitely be there.

Raahh · 10/07/2020 21:37

Jane Grin

You know, I am amazed they have not mentioned him at all this last fortnight. Not even in passing!

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 10/07/2020 21:44

They didn't really mention any of the next gen did they?

Raahh · 10/07/2020 21:48

No, it's been a bit odd- and annoying in a way. I have liked how well players like Medvedev have played over the past year. Watching the the Wimbledon programme , you wouldn't know he exists.

But Tim Henman. Who made a few semi finals, he apparently is the most important player. Ever.

Go figure. Hmm

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 10/07/2020 22:41

Yes it was a Hen-mania revival Grin

It did focus a bit on the same players but I enjoyed it anyway. I liked the rapport between Sue/Chrissie/Mac etc especially.

I think the men's semis would have been Djok, Rafa, Fed (if not injured/surgery) - I'm really going out on a limb with these predictions Grin Not sure Thiem would make the semis on grass although v promising start to the season obviously. I think I'd go with someone who hasn't been in the semis before though - Monfils? Or maybe Nishikori. Or Jane's original pick for the title of course, Dan Evans.

Speaking of, I read Jamie is arranging another Battle of the Brits including men and women this time. I think it's next month.

magimedi · 10/07/2020 22:52

Dear Lord, went into the old thread & had 10+ posts to read & get over here & have 70 to read - love you all for your verbal diarrhoea!!

This time next week I should be in France - all digits crossed..........

JaneJeffer · 10/07/2020 22:56

I bet your GC's are getting excited magi. It's lovely to have something to look forward to.

PrivateSpidey · 10/07/2020 23:10

Ah magi that's great. Not too long to wait then!

PrivateSpidey · 10/07/2020 23:23

Grin that was funny kazza. Ah I enjoyed the programmes this fortnight (seems to have gone really fast). Good work Beeb - at least it gave us something to chat about!

There's a finals thing on over the weekend isn't there - is Sue presenting that??

magimedi · 11/07/2020 07:04
