Or just more wheelie bin challenges?

I'd love some rain! Well, I say that till it happens. Grin. The forecast keeps saying it will- but it just keeps raining over night.

I'd just settle for dry, and not as warm as it has been.

It’s not as hot here today thank goodness - yesterday was unbearable!

The Japanese restaurant sounds good Raahh (apart from the hot stone Grin). I like to be home early as well!

We went out for tea yesterday - the food was nice and it was a bit of a bargain but they were being very cautious - we had to use an app (that didn’t work) to order everything and then drinks took about 20 minutes to arrive - it wasn’t a very relaxing experience Hmm

I need to catch up on my Tennis podcasts Spidey - I’ve not listened to the Stefan one yet - I got a bit bogged down with The Olympics Relived ones!

Raahh · 13/08/2020 17:11

I've seen that after a period of radio silence, Djok has confirmed that he is playing the US Open, and New York- as well as doubles in New York.

He is probably very lucky that there will be no crowds (though playing up to them is what gets him going) - not sure how he will be received by people after the Adria fiasco. I'm sure there will be press- and I doubt they will go easy on him.

Fizzy I am finding the inconsistences in different places the most difficult thing to get my head around. When I went out to eat with my mother- it was great, really relaxing, everything felt very safe, but it still felt like the same restaurant. Other places have gone over board- and then there have the places that haven't even bothered to pretend they were following any of the rules.

Last night was lovely- but no masks, which the previous staff in restaurants have had. But everything else felt fine. And the heat was enough to incinerate all germsGrin.

Love Japanese food. Very jealous Raahh

Clouded over here this afternoon and now raining. Still fairly muggy though.

Had a giggle at Andy and Jamie's instagram, taking the mickey out of each other as they flew to the US Grin

Fizzywinegum · 13/08/2020 18:01

Hmm that’s interesting about Djok playing in US - I thought he would - if he wins it will still count as a Grand Slam win and a few years down the line nobody will remember that there weren’t any other players there Hmm

It is strange Raahh how different places seem to be interpreting the rules - up until last night I’ve always felt safe but also fairly relaxed and normal but last night it was a bit overkill - they were practically throwing our food and drink at us as if we were contaminated (maybe we just looked a bit dodgy Grin)

Not sure if I’ll be watching the US Open - have many of the Next Gen confirmed if they’re playing?

Raahh · 13/08/2020 18:11

Looking at the list I've seen, I've not seen any Next Gen missing- but a few French players are - Monfils, Tsonga, Pouille, PHH - Paire is down to play at the moment though.

I agree, that in years to come it will just be seen as a win for whoever wins it. And I don't mind that- so long as the winners aren't Djok or Serena.

I suppose RG will be the same- and I will be a hypocrite and very much count that as Rafa's 20th slam (if he wins), regardless of how many are missing from the field. Blush.

PrivateSpidey · 13/08/2020 18:21

I'll definitely be watching if it goes ahead, which is looking fairly likely I think.

I enjoyed Jamie's IG video kazza - especially Andy commenting on Jamie's "woolly gloves" as PPE ("are you going to throw some snowballs" Grin)

Fizzywinegum · 13/08/2020 18:26

It will just be strange watching such a big tournament with no crowd

The situation in France is looking a bit more uncertain Sad

Raahh · 13/08/2020 18:35

I'm worried about France.

Argggh! Why didn't they just cancel everything like I told them to until the new year?

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 13/08/2020 19:25

Yes true - it will be weird. But I still want to watch if poss. Fingers crossed for RG.

Has anyone seen any of the Lexington tournament? That's got no crowd and is extremely low key. The tennis itself has been decent though!

I see Stan has arrived in Prague. Maybe series 2 of Stan the private eye could be set there Grin (I can't remember why we had that joke now at all but anyway!)

Raahh · 13/08/2020 19:56

Oh my.

I am visualising Stan and an army of bearsBear, under cover in Prague.

Covid has got to me- and the local lockdown in Manchester isn't even that strict Grin.

And then there's Roger and Rafa- Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole.

Grin

I think we thought that Stan, roaming Switzerlandin lockdown, like a Swiss Wallander, by himself , with fondue, seemed like a good idea Private

With bears . stuffed

I mean, it sort of does.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 13/08/2020 20:00

I think it was because a journalist said that he looked like a down at heel European detective or something like that Private - I also get confused about the parallel tennis universe Grin

There seems to be a bit of a US/European player split

I haven’t watched any of the Lexington tournament - I’m getting a bit confused about which tournaments are happening and who’s playing (I am quite easily confused though!)

Raahh · 13/08/2020 20:04

If Stan's tennis career fails, and he runs out of money, we can re-write is career as a Swiss-Poirot.

With Pandas.

I prefer Raahh’s version of the Stan story Grin

Raahh · 13/08/2020 20:06

Fizzy it is confusing.

OP posts:
Raahh · 13/08/2020 20:09

Fizzy I quite like it.

Can we pitch it somewhere - Stan looks like acting would be right up his street.

I've never been to Switzerland. I might need a passport. Haven't got one, expired 7 years ago.

But I'll be an extra. Grin.

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 13/08/2020 20:20

Switzerland is quite nice Raahh
The problem is, it's full of Swiss gnomes, who, on the whole, are a fairly strange race Grin
(I used to work for a Swiss bank, so have first hand experience that about 95% of them can be slightly weird) Grin

A bit like Holmes' Baker Street Irregulars?! But in bear form?!
Bear

Fizzywinegum · 13/08/2020 20:36

Grin wasn’t Stan doing some acting at some point or was I imaging that

I see that Celebrity Masterchef relived is on again - I’ve got to wait for DH to come home. He’s playing football for the first time since lockdown Shock - he probably won’t be able to walk for a week Grin

PrivateSpidey · 14/08/2020 19:50

Hope you enjoyed Masterchef Fizzy! If the celebs came up with any inspirational meal ideas let me know - still haven't made tonight's tea Hmm PS no octopus though.

I wouldn't be surprised if Stan has been doing some acting - some v unexpected things have happened in lockdown!!

I see the ATP announced the WTFs are to be held at the O2 behind closed doors! I wonder what players will eventually make it through?

JaneJeffer · 14/08/2020 19:59

Nothing but football on here these days.
