I had not watched this before but did so yesterday (Ch 4).

I really enjoyed it until...Jim Moir (Vic Bloody Reeves). Self satisfied smug git. Ate an apple and pretended his teeth fell out (joke fake teeth). Did it again. Imagine being married to that.

The rest of the programme was great! Loved seeing the interaction between Grayson and his wife!

Hiya! Vic Bloody ReevesGrin. Do you mind if I don't imagine being married to him?
I really love Grayson Perry and his work, so I'm SO enjoying the show. His wife - have you seen the Great British Sewing Bee? I reckon that Esme, one of the judges could be her (much smaller) sister. Take a look, what do you think?

Deathraystare · 19/05/2020 16:49

Yes I thought that as well! I don't watch the sewing bee but have seen adverts for it.

Cannot stand Vic Reeves /Jim Moir (can you tell???!!).

Isn't it lovely. Total comfort telly.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 19/05/2020 17:00

I have been watching since first ep with DD (11), we're both really enjoying it. At this moment she is preparing an artwork for submission Grin

Katinski · 19/05/2020 19:04

Oh that's fab RC best of luck to her Smile

Lunaballoon · 19/05/2020 19:10

It’s one of my favourite lockdown TV programmes. Love his Sid James laugh!

ChelseaCat · 19/05/2020 19:14

I love him too! And the wonderful Philippa! The portraits he did of her a couple of weeks ago are absolutely amazing

Deathraystare · 20/05/2020 09:42

I love it when he talks of his teddy - Alan Measles!

I loved it when he praised a woman who thought her painting was not good enough and he was complimentary , didn't he make it picture of the week or something? She said she had no idea whet she was doing and decided to carry on doing it!

I’ve really enjoyed it. And I think it’s one of the very few “lockdown” shows that could have a life after lockdown. I hope it does.

BloddersMum · 21/05/2020 22:28

I like the fact that not all the art is amazing, but all has feeling. He doesn't dismiss the quality just praises the effort and feeling in producing it. Not sure really how to describe it... He doesn't come across as being snobbish about the art made, he just enthuses about the art and the process that anyone goes through to make art. The enjoyment and the satisfaction oozes from him and Phillipa.

My dd7 loves them, and the cat Smile

Marsalimay · 22/05/2020 03:21

He doesn't come across as being snobbish about the art

You may be interested in his Reith lecture on R4.

Figrolls14 · 22/05/2020 03:52

Did anyone see that series he did called Rites of Passage? The one about birth was a blinder

wherestheotherone · 22/05/2020 04:00

I love this program. We've watched them all. Grayson is such a great open minded person.

JemimaTab · 22/05/2020 04:06

Yes I loved “Rites of Passage” too. The one on death was amazing too, so moving and thought-provoking.

BloddersMum · 22/05/2020 08:21

@Marsalimay oh no! Will I be disappointed?...

Marsalimay · 22/05/2020 13:51

Nooo! Not at all :)

BloddersMum · 23/05/2020 08:07

@Marsalimay phew! Will search it out today.

NewAndImprovedNorks · 23/05/2020 08:47

Absolutely the highlight of my week.
The tenderness and love between Grayson and Philippa is so refreshing to see.
The way he manages to encourage without patronising
The general all round loveliness of the man and the joy in art he inspires.

I am an artist and have always maintained that art and creativity are vital for children, but now it seems more and more people are realising that they are vital for EVERYONE.

I can’t imagine these last months without making, painting, sewing, watching films, online galleries and Grayson is the embodiment of that feeling

Love him

ppeatfruit · 23/05/2020 09:14

Yes I have always loved him since he won that Art Prize and gave one in the eye to the Saatchi types. He has common sense. Annoyingly I've missed it so far what time is it on?

Mooserp · 23/05/2020 10:45

It's Monday at 8. But you can see what you've missed on catch up.

I'm really enjoying it. Liked Harry Hill on it.

ppeatfruit · 23/05/2020 14:09

Thank you Mooserp

Harry Hill is marmite. I realise he's much cleverer than he seems to want to make public in some of his programmes.

SpeedofaSloth · 23/05/2020 14:11

Grayson and Phillipa are absolutely my favourite telly couple, ever. Love them both, and Kevin.

ssd · 23/05/2020 14:13

He is a real genuine man. Caring and honest. We love him here. Vic Reeves on the other hand.....

ssd · 23/05/2020 14:16

The way he listened to the lady who won the art competition last week was special. So many telly people don't listen, don't let anyone else get a word in, it's all got to be about them.... Did I mention Vic Reeves??

ppeatfruit · 23/05/2020 14:29

Yes ssd IMO that should have read; so many PEOPLE don't listen, etc.

DH I'm looking at you, talk about a mansplainer Hmm
