I had not watched this before but did so yesterday (Ch 4).

I really enjoyed it until...Jim Moir (Vic Bloody Reeves). Self satisfied smug git. Ate an apple and pretended his teeth fell out (joke fake teeth). Did it again. Imagine being married to that.

The rest of the programme was great! Loved seeing the interaction between Grayson and his wife!

Love the pic of Kevin that he has behind him.

I used to like Vic and Bob. Now I just like Bob.

Newgirls · 23/05/2020 18:24

A fantastic show - so warm, inclusive and inspiring

Weirdly it’s the celeb bits on it that work less well. I like the convos with the artists better

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 23/05/2020 20:29

So pleased to have found this thread.

I only started watching last week on catch-up. I’d been feeling so down and I honestly felt my spirits lifting as I watched it. They are such a lovely couple. I love listening to him talking about art - it’s wonderful to listen to a proper artist talking about art in such an accessible and unpretentious way. I’m so sorry there are only a couple more episodes. Absolutely my favourite programme at the moment.

I tried to find his rites of passage series on all4 but I couldn't find it Sad

Mooserp · 24/05/2020 10:13

I've just looked - the Rites of passage programme is definitely on all 4. There's also Grayson Perrys Dream House

ssd · 24/05/2020 10:22

I'll look again later on, thanks for that.

seekingwaxwings · 24/05/2020 11:07

I love this program and to see the relationship between Grayson and Philippa and Kevin. I also love his fantastic dirty laugh. I quite fancy him actually Blush

Deathraystare · 26/05/2020 07:36

Last night's was great! Love Jennie Eclair! The picture that included the dead twin was rather poignant. I loved Noel Fielding's thing with the painted on studio audience!

I want to buy the tea towel. Wouldn’t it be lovely if they were produced and sold in aid of arts charities? Or cat ones. Grin

EdwinaMay · 26/05/2020 07:55

Vic Reves is annoying but I imagine it would be hard to find arty people who have a sense of humour and don't want to just expound on their work. And they would be wanting to attract a wide audience so probably needed known names.
Can anyone tell me how we know what the subject is for the following week? (fell asleep half way through, very relaxing compared to most on the tv)

AnnaNimmity · 26/05/2020 07:59

oh I think this is lovely. One of the best things to come out of lockdown. They are a lovely couple.

Luckily my internet dropped when Vic Reeves came on, so I missed him. Last night's was lovely. I sobbed a couple of weeks ago with the autistic man who made little models. I'm looking forward to the exhibition when all of this is over.

(and yes, would love to be married to someone like Grayson..).

Kittenlicker · 26/05/2020 08:00

My favourite programme ever. Even sent a picture in!

IntermittentParps · 26/05/2020 16:13

Yeah, I like some of the celebs and artists (Jessica Hynes was a delight; Maggi Hambling magnificent), but I'd love to hear more from the people sending in their art.

I think I'm an episode behind; has Noel Fielding been on AGAIN? (he was a bit annoying in the fantasy one).

I didn't mind Vic Reeves, largely because I liked his bird paintings, although I can see how he irritates people.

EdwinaMay, the programme page on the All4 site tells you what the upcoming themes are.

rockingthelook · 26/05/2020 20:08

Didn't think I would like Grayson, especially as I didn't know much about him apart from a few salacious articles in the press....however he is now one of my favourite people!. What a totally genuine, lovely , kind man he is...and his wife, they are such a joy to watch, even if you don't like art, you get caught up in the whole feeling of goodness. Love it, love it, love it :)

EdwinaMay · 27/05/2020 07:03

Thanks @IntermittentParps , 'All things Britain' next time. Should be interesting.

Deathraystare · 27/05/2020 15:04

Yes, what a contrast to the programme that was on afterwards (SAS) with all the shouting and swearing.

I think this is such a lovely series (and I have only seen two episodes!). Such a cosy joy!

@rockingthelook

‘The whole feeling of goodness’. Excellent description! That is what it is, isn’t it?
Just old fashioned GOOD people

MagisCapulus · 27/05/2020 21:55

DC school have set this as homework! The kids are loving making their own creations.

ppeatfruit · 28/05/2020 09:42

New and Death* I still don't understand, why the telly\film producers (apart from a few) seem to think that MOST of us want piles of violence and horrible drama.

And those hideous deafening DRUM beats to herald the DRAMA all the effin' time. It's soo unnecesary.

NewAndImprovedNorks · 28/05/2020 10:30

Patriarchy

ppeatfruit · 28/05/2020 10:38

Yes New but more than 50% of us don't all have the required appendages Grin There are many more women in positions of power now in telly (dd1 for one!) She was involved with GOT would you believe! She told me I wouldn't like it Grin.

Thymeout · 28/05/2020 14:41

Thoroughly recommend his autobiography about his childhood and adolescence.

What I like about him is the way he cuts through the pretentious pseud's corner explanations of art that curators are inclined to think we need, so you spend more time at an exhibition reading than seeing.

ppeatfruit · 29/05/2020 08:41

This.
I like the french artist (was it Duchamp?) at the beginning of the last century who presented the 'pissoir' as 'art' when asked why he said because he'd written his name on it! Some artists don't take themselves seriously.

Mooserp · 30/05/2020 19:39

I've just watched the Home episode. I was saving it as a treat as the programme is so lovely and comforting 😊

I want a tea towel too!

Deathraystare · 02/06/2020 09:03

Loved last nights episode.

Enjoyed seeing Liza Tarbuck, especially when she got a bit in about her neighbour! I liked her arty thing, even if the Orkneys need to be added!

Loved the big urn thing that Grayson did (cannot remeber the name of it) and 'Filibut's' pots.

Loved the two little figures those people did for him of Alan Measles and Kevin!

His Alan Measles figure looks like an Indonesia mask I thought.

Loved the Singh Twins art.
