Hopefully not before the end of this thread! Sad

Did Steve just say Oliver has 4 amazing parents??

Was he seriously including Tracey in that? Tracey who sneers every time his name is mentioned and makes sarky comments about him? She cants stand that Oliver exists. She’s the step mother from hell!!

nildesparandum · 13/05/2020 20:01

@noyoucannotcomein

I do not know this I was just assuming.Sorry to cause any misunderstanding.

noyoucannotcomein · 13/05/2020 20:09

Surely he wasn't including Tracey as an amazing parent??

noyoucannotcomein · 13/05/2020 20:13

Just realised I'm behind everyone else as i paused mine!

AdoptedBumpkin · 13/05/2020 20:40

I wonder when they will actually run out of episodes. Surely not too long?

Clawdy · 13/05/2020 21:02

Getting a part in a soap is like gold dust these days, even getting an audition is very difficult unless you have a good agent. Competition is fierce. There is no way an actress could decide they want a part, and have one written in for them. Unless they are very, very famous!

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 13/05/2020 21:46

I really like Nina, think she is fitting in brilliantly. Asha is doing so well and Amy is better acting the good friend. I do also like Summer and Kelly. Actually all the younger ones are quite good but could do without Gemma and Chesney and Billy and Gemma's brother. Leanne was bothering me but actually think she's better these days.

I hope they learn from this and slow the pace down - 5 nights per week doesn't mean we need a plethora of characters or to fly through stories at lightning speed. The slower pace is good and could really do the stories justice.

Agree with the comments from pp and agree it's annoying that ambitious / educated people seem to never fulfil their vocation and end up in jobs in the street.

PorpentiaScamander · 13/05/2020 22:04

Did they tell us what they think is wrong with Oliver? My guess is brain... uhhhh... I cant remember the word Confused
Tumor. Brain tumor.

Honeyroar · 13/05/2020 22:11

No they haven’t said, they were doing one extra test because the Dr had suspicions, but didn’t say of what.

A Manchester radio station I was listening to recently s said the had episodes until mid June, then it would run out.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 13/05/2020 22:29

I really hope they do socially distanced episodes - it could surely carry on with the actors distancing from each other and the camera operators etc. Plus it would make it feel very real and I'd love them to get back to slow-paced meandering storylines with the odd biggie thrown in. Would also be lovely for it focus on general 'feel goodness' with them all out clapping for the NHS and talking to each other on their doorsteps, doorstep VE Day celebrations and now that the rules have changed, they go for a walk with one other etc! Something to lift the spirits of the nation and show what people are dealing with at this time.

Deadringer · 14/05/2020 00:10

I like the slower pace too, i hope they don't go back to churning out 6 episodes a week. I was surprised when Cathy was talking about her friend suffering domestic abuse, i knew she had suspicions but she sounded very sure about it.
I guess the problem with them doing lockdown/social distancing episodes is that by the time they air we could be back to normal(ish).

Ritascornershop · 14/05/2020 03:40

Aw, I really like Steve’s character, he’s like a comfy old cardigan. His friendships with Eileen and Tim are lovely and his new dad to Emma is quite sweet.

I could do without; Billy, Gemma (the actress is fine, just the role exhausts me), the quads (ludicrous story), Simon (sorry lad), Rula Lenska, and less of Fiz please (Ty is fine). And I’ve never been able to wrap my head around Rita having what looks like a terribly expensive wig and very middle class drapey clothing - it seems unlikely on an elderly woman in back streets Manchester.

More Peter and Carla, Gail and Sally, Mary and Asha, Tim and Eileen. Possibly Daniel too, he’s quiet good.

Roussette · 14/05/2020 08:17

I've loved the break from the quads and Gemma.

Find Peter and Carla totally tedious! And love Steve too,
Daniel and Bertie... no no no. I remember his first episode, he couldn't at, admittedly he's got better, but I just glaze over when he comes on.

Honeyroar · 14/05/2020 09:50

It’s not that I don’t like Steve the character when he’s being normal. He can be quite sweet and caring. Its the silly, face pulling, over exaggerated silly moments I don’t like.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 14/05/2020 10:33

I’ve Just realised Johnny and Jenny went to France! If they were to do a covid corrie then they’d be stuck in France waiting to be rescued by the U.K. govt! Grin

RedRec · 14/05/2020 14:59

Totally agree with the pp who said Steve is a caricature of himself. All those 'funny' facial expressions do my head in. But what I really hate is the way he does cringeworthy baby talk to any child. Even 16 year old Amy (well, she used to be the same age as my 16 year old daughter).

MrsSteveMcDonald · 14/05/2020 15:02

Just marking my place as I'm not up to date yet

Ritascornershop · 14/05/2020 15:30

But some people do gurn, so I don’t have a problem with that personally. Who was the thin woman in the Kabin years ago who gurned constantly? Was she pretending to be Jenny?

WobblingMyWigglyBits · 14/05/2020 15:40

Mavis? @Ritascornershop

RedRec · 14/05/2020 15:42

Love how the last three posts are from Corrie themed usernames (mine included).

RedRec · 14/05/2020 15:47

... apart from WobblingMyWigglyBits, who just sneaked in there Smile

woodhill · 14/05/2020 16:41

Not Mavis Riley?

Les Dennis did a great impression

Ritascornershop · 14/05/2020 16:43

I had to have a Corrie name!

God no, not Mavis! It was a younger woman, maybe 5”7, maybe a daughter figure to Rita?

Ritascornershop · 14/05/2020 16:46

Ah, just looked it up - I’ve been thinking of Sharon Gaskell/Bentley. Can’t recall what happened to her.

eggandonion · 14/05/2020 16:48

It went down hill when Mavis left. I thought Geoff was going to see the locks getting changed via the camera. Preferably with aggie peering over his shoulder.
