Sarah Lancashire/Nicola Walker

Watched The Split and became a huge fan of Nicola Walker. Someone recommended Last Tango in Halifax which I loved, and also fell for Sarah Lancashire.

Can someone tell me which series to watch next? My job means I travel a lot so never watch drama series as I struggle to commit to certain nights, and then never have time for catch up. Due to current circumstances I have LOADS of time!

What should I watch?

Happy Valley is brilliant with Sarah Lancashire

BadgertheBodger · 12/04/2020 23:57

Happy Valley is brilliant! I really enjoyed the Welsh drama The Accident with Sarah Lancashire as well, she plays someone trapped in an abusive marriage and I thought it was really well portrayed

Mumshappy · 12/04/2020 23:57

Happy Valley is fantastic.

Bouledeneige · 13/04/2020 00:00

Happy Valley absolutely. Sarah Lancashire and Siobhan Finneran. just great.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/04/2020 00:09

We've just watched all 3 series of Unforgotten with Nicola Walker - was amazing !

FuckyNel · 13/04/2020 00:11

I loved her in River

Smithtylater · 13/04/2020 00:17

Happy Valley and unforgotten are both great. You can find them both on Netflix.

ElevenOhFive · 13/04/2020 00:17

Unforgotten with Nicola Walker is really good

HappyGirl86 · 13/04/2020 00:20

River is great!!

dontblameme · 13/04/2020 00:37

Series 3 of Scott & Bailey features Nicola Walker, it's quite harrowing, but she's so good.

Agree about Unforgotten and HV too.

GrimDamnFanjo · 13/04/2020 01:46

Spooks? Nicola joins in series 2 I think.

BringMeTea · 13/04/2020 18:10

Happy Valley all day long. Brilliant.

OllyBJolly · 14/04/2020 08:19

Thank you , everyone. I now have a list.

Watched the first few episodes of Unforgotten last night, mainly because it was the first I found. Utterly brilliant!

Nicola is great in Collateral

Sarah was in The Accident though it was only ok. Her acting was excellent though. Kiri is much better

TheTiaraManager · 14/04/2020 14:47

To clarify Kiri is a series

WellTidy · 14/04/2020 14:53

River is absolutely outstanding.

Happy Valley too.

For fabulous drama but not including either of them, you have to watch Line of Duty.

It’s the best thing that’s ever been on tv.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 16/04/2020 15:15

Happy Valley
Kiri
Unforgiven

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 16/04/2020 15:24

Agree Line of Duty was outstanding. (All series.) In the same way as Happy Valley.

But I'd say
Ultraviolet
Buffy
Detectorists

are the things that have made me happiest. As far as I can remember.

LittleRa · 16/04/2020 15:29

Yes to Happy Valley, Kiri, Line of Duty and Unforgotten. The Stranger on Netflix. The actress who plays Sarah Lancashire’s sister in Happy Valley, Siobhan Finneran, pays the detective in The Stranger and is another excellent actress like those you’ve mentioned.
It’s American and a bit more gritty/harrowing but Unbelievable on Netflix, based on a true story and the two female detectives played by Toni Collette and Merritt Wever are brilliant.

CherryValanc · 16/04/2020 15:30

I love Nicola Walker and Sarah Lancashire; Anna Maxwell Martin crops up in Line of Duty (she's another actress I admire - in fact she reminds me of Nicola Walker in her mannerisms).

Despite that I've not watch Happy Valley, been on my 'will watch next' for too long so will have to start it (and seeing it also has Siobhan Finneran, that's bonus!)

Rockbird · 16/04/2020 15:31

Just been watching Happy Valley. I'm finding it hard going because I really can't handle violence. I'm kind of watching it through my fingers and am on the first ep of series 2.

I only really knew SL from Corrie years back and couldn't stand her. Last Tango was the first thing I've seen her in in years and now I love her!

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 16/04/2020 15:32

Spooks. Can’t remember which series Nicola Walker first appears in, but it’s worth watching all of them anyway.

Shosha1 · 16/04/2020 15:32

I loved Crossing Lines (think it's on either 4 or 5 as a box set) they only made 3 series but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Iamthewombat · 16/04/2020 15:35

Seconding series 3 of Scott and Bailey. Nicola Walker is great in it, with bonus George Costigan.

Although all the Scott & Bailey episodes are excellent.
