So I had a look and I couldn't find a thread for this series (apologies if there is one already and if someone could link me!) so I thought I'd start one.

Who is looking forward to the new series starting tonight at 8bells on BBC2??

OP posts:

It's a point though, Stella.

Very reasonable, given the seafood allergy, for him to come along last night.
And presumably Angela H. had some prior engagement, so someone had to step in.

But why always Michael OH?

Is he at a loose end?

Or is it because he's the only one who's able to tolerate SC in her GBM incarnation* more than once?

We should be told Smile

*I normally really like her.

TheClootieDumplin · 30/04/2020 14:55

Does ANYONE actually like the new format?

No. Its dreadful. GBM used to be one of my favourite shows but I gave up on it in episode 2. Actually I gave up on it in episode 1 but I went back to try it again and still couldn't take to it.

QualityFeet · 30/04/2020 15:05

He is coming back because he has lost weight, found comfortable hair and is flashing his teeth. Eyeing a move into more TV stuff maybe? I like him though, gives good feedback and looks to enjoy himself.

Stellaris22 · 30/04/2020 17:36

I'm not keen on him as I remember him being a lot more annoying, however as a judge I find he is incredibly fair and good with his feedback.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:04

Evening. Here's hoping for something fun and exciting tonight. And for Thai chef to click that he's cooking for children too.

jay55 · 30/04/2020 20:07

Evening, watched yesterday on catchup. Would have rather the Thai chef had gone.

Theme is back this week, am sure there was none last week.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:09

Another Fantastic Mr Fox dish. I prefer it when they use something more obscure.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:10

Hi jay.

I am not sure about a doughnut with chicken liver parfait piped inside it.

jay55 · 30/04/2020 20:13

I'm sure I've said this before, but I've had foie gras Cotten candy before and it was delicious. Imagine the donut is a similar play.

jay55 · 30/04/2020 20:14

What is the point of SC if the chefs are perfectly capable of interviewing each other like that.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:19

I am terrified of that idea, jay, but I'll trust you.

Those pies look pretty but could maybe use another couple of minutes to get proper colour on them.

I like his presentation.

jay55 · 30/04/2020 20:21

It's a beige dish. And clearly the duck skin is an issue.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:21

They don't look like roast potatoes. Don't promise roasties if you're just cooking them in a bit of butter instead of making them crispy.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:22

I agree with Lisa. Those dragons would have looked amazing as one big one to share.

jay55 · 30/04/2020 20:22

I'm allergic to almonds but those dragon wings might be worth the huge dose of anti histamines after. They look fabulous.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:23

I assume there are books about the Welsh dragon otherwise HOW IS THIS ON BRIEF?!

jay55 · 30/04/2020 20:25

Yesterday they seemed to vaguely talk about legends of giants and dragons. Rather than actual kids books.

LIZS · 30/04/2020 20:27

I know it is a food show but so many go for random obscure books to support a dish idea rather than be inspired in a recognisable way.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:27

They should stop changing things like that.

The doughnuts are not as scary as I thought.

jay55 · 30/04/2020 20:29

Hehehe she's not happy at the lack of roasties.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:32

No John. No. All the nos. No.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:34

Tom's looks like a mouth.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:38

Oh, an actual marmalade dish for Paddington this time. Bear

MrsHoolie · 30/04/2020 20:46

Has the series been good this time?

I normally love it but started the first episode and there was a presenter which I really didn't like at all.

I'll come back to it as it gets nearer the end.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/04/2020 20:48

I think it has been a bit flat MrsHoolie. The dishes have mostly been boring, which I don't understand considering the fun brief.
