So I had a look and I couldn't find a thread for this series (apologies if there is one already and if someone could link me!) so I thought I'd start one.

Who is looking forward to the new series starting tonight at 8bells on BBC2??

OP posts:

Haha, more Michael O'Hare. Is he the official sponsor this year, or something?

FliesandPies · 29/04/2020 20:35

Don''t mind another helping of O'Hare meself

LaMarschallin · 29/04/2020 20:36

Why is he even there? Missed that, unfortunately.

FliesandPies · 29/04/2020 20:37

Other chef is allergic to seafood so can't taste it

FliesandPies · 29/04/2020 20:38

Thai-food chef's greasy hair is putting me right off

LaMarschallin · 29/04/2020 20:39

Ah! Wondered if that was it - thank you Smile

GrouchyKiwi · 29/04/2020 20:43

O'Hare has a lovely smile. I don't mind his extra appearances at all.

FliesandPies · 29/04/2020 20:44

Octopus..really shouldn't watch these shows Sad

Egghead68 · 29/04/2020 20:45

Happy to see Michael again too.

LIZS · 29/04/2020 20:46

Missed beginning, who is Georgia's chef dad?

GrouchyKiwi · 29/04/2020 20:46

I think that looks boring. Where's the fun, where's the excitement?

GrouchyKiwi · 29/04/2020 20:47

I missed that too LIZS.

GrouchyKiwi · 29/04/2020 20:49

He's completely forgotten who he's cooking for, the Thai chef.

GrouchyKiwi · 29/04/2020 21:00

That was the right decision for me.

QualityFeet · 29/04/2020 21:17

Can I join really late? No one watched in my house so they don’t understand the importance of Michale getting his hair under control or the misfortune of Hrishi making a (did me ) sad early exit.
This series feels uneven somehow. Love a bit of Richard though. I like it best when someone wants to say but my Norwegian inspires micro fusion gel blah blah but either u see his firm eye.

QualityFeet · 29/04/2020 21:25

Oh they wither under his eye ... not liking SC as a presenter. She is fine but just not needed.

GrouchyKiwi · 29/04/2020 21:37

Welcome Quality! Agreed on all points.

QualityFeet · 29/04/2020 21:39

Oh to be heard GrouchyKiwi!🥳

Hesperatum · 30/04/2020 11:05

I agree with Quality Feet. I like SC but totally superfluous. It seems as though they have dumbed down this year and are trying to add an element of comedy. The same has been done with Bake Off which has lost its original appeal (to my mind anyway).

QualityFeet · 30/04/2020 11:13

Yes that trend for the comedy presenter - Joe Lycette in Sewing Bee too. I do t find it makes it better, Claudia W was fine kind of representing the average viewer but SC is less than the average viewer and def more annoying. It was so much better last time.

Egghead68 · 30/04/2020 13:42

Does ANYONE actually like the new format?

LaMarschallin · 30/04/2020 14:22

I know I don't.
It's interesting that Bake Off and the Sewing Bee sound to be going the same way.
I was watching Paul Hollywood in Japan last night and really feeling as though I was watching something for children.
The progeamme makers seem to think that unless somebody's being "funny" and there to have things explained to them (and, via them, to the viewers), the actual content (cooking/sewing/whatever) will be too difficult and too serious for us.

LIZS · 30/04/2020 14:22

The amuse bouche and pre-dessert are a waste of time. I find the hour long format too long.

Stellaris22 · 30/04/2020 14:28

Why does O'Hare keep coming back? They did it with Angela Hartnett but it's never explained why. I may be wrong but it's only done with the female judges from what I can tell.

Stellaris22 · 30/04/2020 14:31

Just seen the post about seafood allergy, apologies.
