So I had a look and I couldn't find a thread for this series (apologies if there is one already and if someone could link me!) so I thought I'd start one.

Who is looking forward to the new series starting tonight at 8bells on BBC2??

They're all rubbish really. Jo is a bit less rubbish.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/04/2020 20:36

The Hounds of the Baskervilles isn't a children's book! WHAT, Harriet, what.

jay55 · 23/04/2020 20:38

Harriet looks a bit like her from twilight, especially the fiddling with the hair. That I believe is the source of my irritation.

PotterHead1985 · 23/04/2020 20:38

Oh jays @jay. Kirsten Stewart. I'm seeing it and I get it. Unfortunately Confused

I wouldn't do that. You don't know who and his dog has pissed on it!!

PotterHead1985 · 23/04/2020 20:43

Aaand the fucking chiller is broke again too

OP posts:
jay55 · 23/04/2020 20:49

This doesn't look like pud to me.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/04/2020 20:51

The Hound looks very cool. Still not appropriate.

PotterHead1985 · 23/04/2020 20:54

Jesus I think she hates herself

OP posts:
GrouchyKiwi · 23/04/2020 20:56

She's really hard on herself.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/04/2020 20:58

I missed the score Harriet got. Was it higher than a 6 this time?

PotterHead1985 · 23/04/2020 20:58

Again.

PotterHead1985 · 23/04/2020 20:58

No. 6 @GrouchyKiwi

Thanks for the company. The judges haven't liked much so far so tomorrow will be interesting.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/04/2020 21:01

The judges will probably love everything. They're always opposite to the veteran.

GrouchyKiwi · 23/04/2020 21:01

And thanks @PotterHead1985

Divebar · 23/04/2020 21:06

I didn’t think much of Harriett yesterday but she seemed a bit more plucky today. Mind you her pudding looked like a dog poo in the woods.

LaMarschallin · 23/04/2020 21:14

That's exactly what DH said.

Couldn't understand why there was barely any orange flavour in the Paddington dish.
It was like he'd decided what he wanted to cook, then thought of a book to pin it to, so stuck in a hat and a teaspoon of marmalade.

And it would have been better presented with the hat covering the dish so the sandwich was actually under the hat.

Look forward to tomorrow.

Very disappointing round of chefs this week.

Agree with Richard Corrigan that they need to discuss use of the blast chiller. It happens a lot and surely as experienced chefs they should know not to keep opening it.

LaMarschallin · 24/04/2020 14:49

Apparently Thomas's baby was two weeks overdue, which is why he decided to back out. They'd expected to have a bit more time before he started the competition.

RhymingRabbit3 · 24/04/2020 18:49

Do you think the judge this week has been harsher, or that the contestants are actually rubbish?
The guy the first week was giving out 10s willy nilly and hardly anyone gives less than a 7 - Richard's scores have been mainly 5s and 6s!

RhymingRabbit3 · 24/04/2020 18:52

Also is anyone else fed up with the word "cremeaux", especially the way Susan Calman says it? I quite like her usually but the crappy catchphrases of "get amusing bouching" and "pre pudding pudding" is driving me mad.

LaMarschallin · 24/04/2020 19:02

I think it's a bit of both.
Actually, I thought he might be even harsher on the raw kidneys.

I used to really like Susan Calman (she's excellent on some panel games on Radio 4) but I could give her such a smack now.
You're right about the crappy catchphrases and she's also been quite rude to people on occasion.
And she seems to know bugger all about food!

PotterHead1985 · 24/04/2020 19:48

Yea she's driving me potty.

And the less said about those kidneys the better.

I think some of the judging chefs have been too generous this year. In the past they'd be obliterated for not meeting the brief and loads have done a dish then picked the book this year.

The panel have been delighted when they find something they like, it's not been a lot this year.

Maybe I'm just grumpy watching people cook with ingredients that fee like a distant dream.
