I may have over invested in a tv show but I'm devastated Perri Kiely didn't win Dancing on Ice tonight. I get that Joe has improved but do you give someone the formula 1 championship just because they kept the car on the track?

Perri is a dancer but Joe is an actor so both had different advantages. Of course the biggest advantage is that Joe is much more widey known. Bah - I'm just really annoyed.

Perri's bolero was absolutely fantastic. No way was he a runner up

champagneandfromage50 · 08/03/2020 22:22

I knew joe would win as he would be popular with the public although Perri was the winner for me

LifeImplosionImminent · 08/03/2020 22:31

@TiddyTid Right!? Christopher Dean said it was "The best ever performance of Bolero on Dancing on Ice"

He made history by being the first, and I'll bet last celeb to backflip on the ice.

I agree. Yes Joe improved but Perri was the clear winner

Toria70 · 08/03/2020 22:42

A professional dancer was never going to win.

The public always feel mildly pissed off if the celeb is "too good" and vote for the underdog.

Perri was incredible however, and a joy to watch.

Liddell · 08/03/2020 22:45

I knew immediately what you were referring to, I think Perri was robbed too.

Perri was a truly wonderful and innovative skater and deserved to win.

Geoffreythecat · 08/03/2020 22:48

A professional dancer was never going to win.

Well, apart from James Jordan Grin

It was a popularity contest, and when they opened the voting before anyone had actually skated, Joe Swash was always going to win. Seriously how can you vote on someone's skating before they skated....

Dontjudgeme101 · 08/03/2020 22:50

I agree Perri was robbed! Although l must admit, the back flip was impressive, but they didn’t skate much together in that routine. The second routine was beautiful and they skated together and that bolero was outstanding. I liked both of Joe’s routine, but didn’t think that his bolero routine was anything special.

LifeImplosionImminent · 08/03/2020 22:51

I'm feeling a bit better that it wasn't just me who thought he was awesome.

@Toria70 James Jordan won last year though and he was a professional dancer.

I thought Perri was a guaranteed winner. He was brilliant. That bolero was amazing.

avamiah · 08/03/2020 23:09

Yes I agree Perri was amazing but I had a feeling that he wouldn’t win .
Joe is in the public’s “eye” more than Perri if you know what I mean.
I mean there is always a story about him and Stacey and their sex life and at the end of the day it’s about publicity ( no matter how distasteful it is)
At the end of the day he wasn’t the Best Skater and he will know that but he got the public vote .

theliverpoolone · 08/03/2020 23:11

I've had a crap day, and I knew just to top it off Joe would win! Perri was fantastic, I'm gutted for him - but I think if it wasn't already in the bag, Joe's Charlie Chaplin routine may have won it for him.

theliverpoolone · 08/03/2020 23:13

There is always a story and him and Stacey and their sex life - eugh, is there?! I'm so glad those stories have passed me by!

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/03/2020 23:14

It's just the way it goes with a public vote.
Joe won because the majority wanted him to.

Geoffreythecat · 08/03/2020 23:14

I'd pay to watch Perri skate, it was so beautiful

Iamthewombat · 08/03/2020 23:14

Oh, Christ. Does this mean that we have to see even more of that gurning fool who makes a living appearing on reality shows?

Bouledeneige · 08/03/2020 23:15

I like joe Swash but Perri was incredible - and a very humble and sweet young man. He was totally robbed.

LifeImplosionImminent · 08/03/2020 23:16

@theliverpoolone I feel your pain. Thing is people keep saying Perri had an advantage being a dancer - but Joe's Chaplin routine was so good because he ACTED.

@avamiah The fact that he might know deepdown he deprived the best person makes me feel much better

@Qwerty543 I did think he wouldn't win, right up until last week when I couldn't imagine him not after that Romeo & Juliet performance

@Dontjudgeme101 Joe's bolero was a bit meh

CharityDingle · 08/03/2020 23:24

Very disappointed that Perri didn't win. He WAS robbed.

keepingbees · 08/03/2020 23:29

I completely agree, I don't usually watch these kind of shows but I found myself watching each week just to see Perri. He did more than just skate and was absolutely breathtaking to watch. The back flip and Bolero tonight was something else, better than Torville and Dean, and on top of it seems such a lovely modest person. I couldn't believe he didn't win.

I've nothing against Joe but he was mediocre at best and only ever mildly entertaining when he had to 'act' the routine.

avamiah · 08/03/2020 23:31

theliverpoolone,
Haha
He is always saying ridiculous things and going on Loose Woman .

AllTheseThingsThatIHaveNotDone · 08/03/2020 23:34

I didn't vote and have not avidly watched every move but Joe seemed to have more sexual chemistry with Alex than Perri did with Vanessa - you cannot learn that or fake it really, it's either there or it's not.
Everyone saying he's the best contestant they've ever had - not for me, the quality of the skating for me would go to Ray Quinn or Chris Fountain. Perri reminds me of Sebastien Foucan who really was robbed and eliminated far too soon back in series 7.

Qwerty543 · 08/03/2020 23:39

There was a lot of sexual chemistry with Joe and Alex. I have seriously wondered if something is going on. Vanessa was very huggy with Perri tonight.

avamiah · 08/03/2020 23:46

AllTheseThingsThatIHaveNotDone,
Oh yes I totally agree with you about Ray Quinn, he was fabulous , so talented and at the end he was performing like a pro like he had been skating for years .
I remember him on X Factor .
Sorry to go off post a bit .
Apologies

Papergirl1968 · 08/03/2020 23:58

Hmm, just watched the Boleros. While Peri’s was a little ungainly in a couple of places, it was fresh and exciting. I found Joe’s a bit dull really.
So glad Caprice didn’t turn up. I wonder if she was invited.
Not keen on Holly’s dress. Looked a bit like a cheap wedding dress.
Jane and Chris have still got it - such a great partnership. Smile
