I am not going to get chance to watch much more of this so this was a bit of a quick one...

I keep going on, but it was fluffing that game in the first set that did it. He seemed to be playing really well up to then.

Domi better not get any ideas about the French Open!

PrivateSpidey · 29/01/2020 13:00

Yes I agree, sometimes stuff like that just sets the tone for the whole thing.

Mama1980 · 29/01/2020 13:00

Well thats rubbish Sadit's never quite the same when Rafas gone.
I'm team Sasha now!

magimedi · 29/01/2020 13:01

Team ABD here.

Looking forward to seeing it on the highlights later this arvo.

Raahh · 29/01/2020 13:02

Jane oh no, he can't have both!

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 29/01/2020 13:11

I want the winner to come from the top half of the draw, definitely.

JaneJeffer · 29/01/2020 13:29

Thiem did well for a complete unknown. I'm happy that it was him rather than one of the other two who beat Rafa.

I'm Team Sascha all the way now.

Raahh · 29/01/2020 13:36

Jane that made me snort. I woke up the dog.
I am glad he didn't get beaten by one of the other 2. Of course, the Djok/Fed fans will have it, that only beating one of them counts for anything.

If Fed beats Djok, and Sascha gets through- then Sascha has a positive hth against Roger- 4-3. So that's a good sign. I think Sascha has definitely been more postive all round this tournament, he seems happier in himself, more relaxed.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 29/01/2020 13:40

Yes he does and I'm delighted to see it. I don't hold much hope of Roger beating Djok but you never know. He might be out for Wimbledon revenge.

PrivateSpidey · 29/01/2020 14:09

Also... Sascha has beaten Djok in a big final before. I know best of 3 is different, but he has done it.

I mean, he has to get there first. But there is hope.

BGD2012 · 29/01/2020 14:38

I don't think Federer will win, he hasn't beaten Djok for years in a GS. The crowd will help him but Djok still got through that Wimbeldon final without crowd support. I can possibly see Thiem stopping Djok though. (Depends if Djok is clicked in though, if he is then forget it.)

Raahh · 29/01/2020 15:06

I think Fed has probably had too many tough matches ( which, no disrespect to his opponents, should have been easier)and to be honest I don't really want either to win anyway.Grin

Now Rafa is out, can the Domi/Sascha match be the final? Grin

OP posts:
BGD2012 · 29/01/2020 16:51

Has Fed even played a seed yet? Nadal's route for a no 1 seed was tough.

Raahh · 29/01/2020 17:03

BGD I don't think he did- mainly because Sandgren probably beat them on his way to play him Grin.

But yes, Rafa's route was defnitely tougher than his, I think.

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 29/01/2020 17:04

Nope. That bit of the draw was a bit light on tough players anyway, Berrettini and Fognini were in there but I can't think of who else. Tsitsipas?? But he's long gone. As are the other two, to be fair.

Strange how it works out sometimes.
Confused

PrivateSpidey · 29/01/2020 17:05

Sorry - the "nope" was in response to "has Fed played a seeded player?"

Raahh · 29/01/2020 17:13

Yes, Tennys beat both Berrettini and Foggy didn't he?

I still can't get over the fact he didn't win yesterday. I'm sure neither can he. 7 match points. Shock

kazzaD66 · 29/01/2020 17:20

Just watched the BBC highlights and had my first view of Dom.

Lordy! Those highlights Confused
Also thought his shorts were a bit tight aswell. They kept riding up and he kept tugging them down again Grin Maybe they're looser when he doesn't wear his coordinating cycle shorts underneath Hmm

I also hadn't noticed before, but he has quite big teeth.

Sorry. I know I should say something about the tennis but they were the first things that sprung to mind Grin

Raahh · 29/01/2020 17:36

kazza Grin

'quite big teeth'

I never noticed his teeth. I probably won't be able to see anything else now!

Dom has form for wearing odd things. He is stuck in the 80s. Which is odd, considering her was born in 1993. Grin

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 29/01/2020 17:37

I used to think Thiem was nice looking kazza but what with the frosted hair and beating Rafa today he’s gone to the bottom of my list (his ears stick out a bit as well!)

I’d love to see Sascha win the whole thing now but still can’t see anyone getting past Djok (especially Fed tomorrow)

I’ve recorded the Rafa match but don’t think I can bear to watch it - might see if I can brave the highlights

I heard that they’re bringing in Voice of Doom Sue for the semi final highlights on the BBC - she won’t be happy if Rog loses

Raahh · 29/01/2020 17:37

Actually, just reading that back is quite depressing.

Born in 1993! The day he was born, I was a month off starting university!

OP posts:
Raahh · 29/01/2020 17:38

'His ears stick out'

Oh poor Domi Grin

But yes, beating Rafa is not on.

Especially as it's not even clay.

OP posts:
Raahh · 29/01/2020 17:40

Oh yes, Sue will be beside herself with excitement if Roger is in the final.

She will have a Ro7er t-shirt ready, for when he wins Grin.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 29/01/2020 17:51

kazza Grin he has a very pert posterior hence the tight shorts.

Fizzy I think it was just the headband making his ears stick out Grin

His main fashion influence seems to be taken from the fall of the Berlin Wall.
