I am not going to get chance to watch much more of this so this was a bit of a quick one...

Watch it, you lot - or I'll post pics of AC twice daily Grin.

Looking forward to watching the highlights later on - quite glad I didn't have to sit through the whole match.

JaneJeffer · 27/01/2020 14:01

I know that one Raahh Grin

PrivateSpidey · 27/01/2020 14:20

Lol at pogonophile Grin I just looked it up and snorted when I saw what it was Grin luckily there's no one here to hear me.

Raahh · 27/01/2020 14:35

I honestly think AC would be preferable to Frew.

Well, I am saying that now - I won't think it when we actually have to suffer him. Grin.

I always think I miss AC Raahh but change my mind after 5 minutes of listening to him Grin

I still don’t know what a pognophile is - is it something to do with beards?

Fizzywinegum · 27/01/2020 17:45

I was right! Grin

kazzaD66 · 27/01/2020 18:01

When will you all learn?
Every time you say you miss AC......and then after 30 seconds of his inane witterings, you realise you really don't Grin

Just watched the BBC highlights.
Dear God! My first experience of the Nike kit in all it's glory Confused

Dick's shorts Hmm

And I'm sorry, but it is still bugging me that Rafa's watch strap clashes with his shirt Grin

Would like to have seen some of Bear

PrivateSpidey · 27/01/2020 18:19

inane witterings

Also, whilst very sad news about Kobe Bryant, why did Johnny Mac have to lead with that for his Rafa interview? Rafa looked a bit nonplussed!
Not everyone follows basketball outside the US.
DH said last night...."why is the top headline on the BBC 10 o'clock news about a retired American basketball player?"

Harsh but fair Hmm

kazzaD66 · 27/01/2020 19:38

Saw Frew McMillan play doubles on my first visit to Wimbledon in 1977, with Bob Hewitt (less said about him, the better). Frew always wore a white peaked cap.
I've never heard him commentate but, judging from your comments, perhaps this is a blessing Hmm

Fizzywinegum · 27/01/2020 20:31

I also thought Rafa looked a bit nonplussed by the Kobe Bryant question Kazza - I do understand that it is very sad and a big story especially for Americans and for sports people but i suppose Rafa expected to be asked about his match.

I also agree with Raahh earlier - I think it was unfair that Rafa was expected to praise Kyrgios when he (quite rightly) didn’t really want to.

I remember Frew from back in the day and didn’t reckon much to him then - my opinion hasn’t really changed

Raahh · 27/01/2020 20:34

I'm not sure Rafa was confused by the Kobe thing, actually- he was wearing a Nike Lakers cap, (Kobe's team) and had tweeted condolences prior to his match, so I think he was expecting the questions. He just generally looks confused by the way Mac phrases things, I thinkGrin.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 27/01/2020 20:55

I think you're right Raahh. As soon as Mac approaches him he has a look of confusion based on his previous encounters! I think it was a big thing in the tennis world going by all the players who posted about Kobe Bryant.

Raahh · 27/01/2020 20:59

I mean , it's a given that Nick ( like him or not) really is a massive basket ball fan. I think, in another life, he would rather do that. We would also rather he did that. I mean. Nick wants tennis to be more like basket ball. ( ain't gonna happen . I hope).

But in sport, there is alot of crossover, so it's not surprising that Rafa knows a lot about Kobe.

I wish they'd leave it then. Incandescent glow my arse.

I wish I got paid for writing nonsense Grin

kazzaD66 · 27/01/2020 21:07

True Raahh As much as I (generally) love Mac, he's not the best interviewer Hmm

Wtf Jane Angry

Raahh · 27/01/2020 21:09

I should stop reading stuff like this .

Rubbish for my blood pressure Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 27/01/2020 21:11

Kazza he is not unbiased. He is a Roger fan, so it pains him when Rafa wins.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 27/01/2020 21:30

Yes poor Rafa does always seem to approach Mac’s interviews as if they’re some sort of ordeal to pass Grin. I struggle with his questions sometimes and English is my first language.

Kyrgios doesn’t attract my eyeballs at all Hmm

PrivateSpidey · 27/01/2020 21:43

Incandescent what now?! Hmm

I can take him or leave him, but going on as though he's the best thing since sliced bread, and tennis is a boring, emotionless world without him is just a load of old rubbish.

Anyway. Delpo has had his surgery. Apparently it went well, so that's good. I hope he recovers quickly and is pain free very soon. It makes me sad to see yet more photos of him in a cast/on crutches, it must be like a sort of awful groundhog Day for him.

(So I managed approx 24 hrs without mentioning him on here!! Grin)

PrivateSpidey · 27/01/2020 21:49

PS I noticed Djok is the night match tomorrow morning (you know what I mean Grin) and Fed plays during the day. Bit of a turn up.

I wonder what will happen in that match, imagine if Sandgren won?!?

Also I saw on the women's side it's definitely going to be a new champ after Kerber went out. That was such a good match, I watched quite a bit to get away from the Rafa stress!
