I am not going to get chance to watch much more of this so this was a bit of a quick one...

Fizzy it is bound to be the big evening match, I think. On Laver, I expect, though that isn't Nick's preferred court.

Thanks Raahh - I think tomorrow’s evening match starts at 9.15am so Monday’s will probably be the same.

In his interview Kyrgios was saying that he had been on court a long time and needed an ice bath so not sure if he’s getting his excuses in already. He was actually pretty respectful saying that Rafa was a great champion but I guess that could all change on Monday. At least Rafa had a relatively easy match against PCB and has had longer to recover.

I’m still feeling nervous though - I need to borrow a dog Grin

PrivateSpidey · 25/01/2020 13:55

Hopped back in the car and listened to the tie break on the radio while waiting to pick DS up - it was brilliant commentary, but made it unbelievably tense. Ugh, I could hardly listen to it!! Sounded like Khachanov played well to get back into it, shame he couldn't finish it off.

I think Rafa will be just fine on Monday, presuming it's going to be played on RLA that is? Unless they go rogue and put them on Melbourne Arena Hmm surely not.

Raahh · 25/01/2020 13:59

Private I will be annoyed if it is not played on Laver.- surely even Kyrgios doesn't have the clout (yet) to request court changes (he would prefer to play on Melbourne , I'm sure.

No, you wouldn't think so would you? I hope not anyway!!;

Raahh · 26/01/2020 08:54

So, I wasn't planning on getting sucked in to to too much this morning. But we will see.

Djok through, I hoped Diego would put up some fight but not to be.
Foggy is playing Sandgren - who has added a white bandage over his black taped up up knee. Looks even stranger. He is, unfortunately 2 sets up.

Given previous matches this may not stop Foggy taking it to 5!

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/01/2020 09:04

Sandgren is an odd looking man- doesn't look like a tennis player at all.

Of course, the winner of this, plays (probably) Federer.

Not sure how Roger will be affected by the long match the other day- it's an unusual situation for him- playing lengthy 5 set matches at the end of a tournament is one thing- not in the middle. But it's not like he is playing someone who is going to be much of a threat. If today had been Fed/ Foggy match, that could have been a different story.

Same here Raahh, I've been watching Fabio v Sandgren for about 45 mins and I don't even care about it. Grin

Fabio looked like he was so disinterested earlier but he seems to have found some motivation now. Surely he can't come back from 2-0 three times in one tournament?! That would be some kind of record surely??

It annoys me as well when matches like this are on when I can watch, yet Ernie, Goffin etc pass me by at approx 3am Hmm and might as well not have happened for all I've seen of them.

I'm just in the kitchen listening to R5 while doing the bacon butties, and they are commentating on Barty v Riske: "sliced backhand... another sliced backhand..." Great. Sounds exciting.

I see Raonic beat Cilic pretty comprehensively, plays Djok next.

Head to head: 9-0 to Novak.
Hmm

PrivateSpidey · 26/01/2020 09:44

Pfftt. I feel like Fabio could and should have won that.

Right I should be doing something useful but I seem to be welded to the couch.

Raahh · 26/01/2020 09:44

Oh pfft. Sandgren through.

Not a good head to head for Milos then- Stan had a terrible hth against Rafa and look what happened here. Ok, Rafa was injured... but still.

Grin Sometimes pffft-ing and straw clutching is all we can do Grin
Raahh · 26/01/2020 09:50

I will do the ironing , whilst watching. So that's something. And I have chucked dinner in the slow cooker. So I feel I have made a bit of an effort Grin.

It has gone very dark here, and wet.

It was lovely here earlier, sunny and felt quite mild, but now it's turned back to that horrible grey weather we've been having lately Hmm

Like living inside a Tupperware container, as Bill Bryson said Grin

Sounds like you've had a productive day so far Raahh

Raahh · 26/01/2020 09:57

Oh, I do love Ash- very tricky match, but she is so lovely in her interviews, and genuine about her opponents. I am a proper fan girl Grin.

Raahh · 26/01/2020 09:59

Spidey I have been such a sloth lately, I really feel so sluggish , I blame January/tennis/the weather/my children Grin.

Mind you- that makes it sound like I am not a sloth at other times. Which is not true. Grin.

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 26/01/2020 10:00

She's lovely isn't she? She was so funny about Casey Dellacqua in that interview Grin

PrivateSpidey · 26/01/2020 10:04

I am really struggling with January this year. I hate it every year, but I've found it tough going this year. All I want to do is stay on the couch with a blanket and hot water bottle and watch tennis or trash TV. But I can't. Because life Hmm

I was quite excited when I saw that bit of blue sky this morning, thinking we could go and do something outside, get out in the garden etc but now it's so miserable again Sad

Ugh, I need to snap out of it!!

PrivateSpidey · 26/01/2020 10:06

Perhaps watching Fed v Fucsovics will cheer me up?!

Fucsovics always makes me think of the Djok ice bath interview Grin

Fizzywinegum · 26/01/2020 10:07

I think I’m giving tennis a miss today - although might watch a bit of Federer later. I need to conserve all my tennis energy for tomorrow morning.

I’m still in bed Blush. Still feeling a bit rough from my cold lurgy - that’s my excuse anyway.

Sounds like you’ve both had productive mornings - I might put some washing on in a bit (need a Sascha Grin)

Tennys Sandgren is a bit weird looking - maybe foggy just couldn’t face another fifth setter. I agree Spidey - most of the tennis that I really wanted to see has happened in the middle of the night and I seem to have spent most of my time watching Djok, Fed and Kyrgios. Hmm

Raahh · 26/01/2020 10:08

Oh FFS- have they lost all the other commentators??!

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 26/01/2020 10:09

Oh yes the ice bath interview - that all went a bit weird didn’t it? Grin

Raahh · 26/01/2020 10:11

Roger may have won 100 matches here, but how many has he lost.

Rafa has won 95 matches at RG- and only lost 2.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 26/01/2020 10:13

Is it Frew again Raahh?

January can be a tough month Spidey - I’m finding the dark mornings difficult. I think embracing hibernation (when possible) is the best thing to do (and watching tennis)

Raahh · 26/01/2020 10:15

Fizzy get well soon! I had a really bad lurgy bout before Christmas- first time in years, really knocked me out and took a week to get back to normal after.

I know what you mean about the matches- so many I want to see have been over night, and I have only got invested in some because I have wanted certin people to lose Grin.

It was not the most interesting looking day today.
