I must say I have not heard of many of those 'big names' you rattled off for the US! Or I have heard of them but wouldn't recognise them (so I only know Rumer Willis because of her parents). The only really big name there is surely Seal and he is from the past! And Rikki Lake is well known but no longer a big star. (she must be waning; she evn did that X Factor crap!)

DH reckons the fox is Kim Wilde, with the flag clue being Kids in America. She must've been a rear of the year at one time, surely?

Toofaroutallmylife · 19/01/2020 08:23

I’m enjoying the format but 16 yo DD is getting very grumpy that she hasn’t recognised any of the celebrities yet. It takes the fun out of guessing if you’ve got no chance of being right.

It makes you realise how clever shows like Strictly are - even if I don’t know a contestant at the start I usually love them by the end

Caaarrrl · 19/01/2020 11:05

I don't think that there'll be any particularly famous people. Lots of 'has beens' and z listers. Still can't stop watching though!

ChicCroissant · 19/01/2020 11:43

My DD is a bit Hmm that she hasn't known any of the unmasked singers so far, Teddy Sheringham retired from playing football when she was around 2 so no, she's not heard of him either! As a pp said, if the series takes off people will be begging their agents to get them on it - having said that, the people who have been unmasked so far seem to have enjoyed themselves on it!

The Twitter snafu - they posted the tweet about the sing off early during the commercial break instead of waiting for the results, with a photo of Octopus and Tree. Then took it down, and put the same tweet back up a few minutes later when the results had been announced. No identity clues, just spoilered the performers in the sing off. DD showed me it on her laptop screen, she's a fan of Octopus so wasn't pleased she was in the sing off (probably because she was hoping it was a Pussycat Doll).

Peter Shilton has said on Twitter that his phone went crazy last night with friends thinking he was on the show! So the people behind the masks are still in glorious obscurity while unconnected celebs are fending off social media Grin

I found an article with a breakdown of the clues so far...

Here are octopus

Week 1 Clues: Octopus is "bubbly", "happy-go-lucky" and "always on the go" – despite all her arms, she's "equally leggy" which comes in handy when making any pier her catwalk.
"I love weight training" she revealed.

Week 2 clues: Octopus is '' Always learning but no apprentice''. Likes Fish and chips. Signed a 1 million pound deal Likes Jason Donovan And signed a Record breaking deal.

1 truth 2 lies

I was discovered on a cruise ship

I have used an accent coach to prepare for this show

I made my first million in the cosmetics industry.

itswinetime · 19/01/2020 14:25

Monster

Week 1 clues - They described themselves as ‘bright, bold’ and ‘a big personality’ – while the American accent also kept judges guessing as they added: ‘I’ve come to the UK to grab every opportunity in this competition. But this could be a huge star after he gave clues that claimed he has "feasted on a lot of awards" and has "come to the UK" from elsewhere. Monster also revealed that his hero is Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley.

Week 2 clues - They have always been a bit of a showmen', They like 'creating characters' and were 'a real book worm as a child'.They discovered, rock and roll while little and have always 'been an individual' inspired by Glam rock. Let's not forget they sang a love Ballard to a mouse -that's got to be important..right??

1 truth 2 lies

I have an identical twin
I had a monster hit with Calvin Harris
I am Cee-Lo green.

itswinetime · 19/01/2020 14:42

And Hedgehog

The Hedgehog
In episode one he hedgehog teased that he
- Is a bit posh
- Is mostly 'active at night'
- Is more introverted than you might expect
- Most happy on stage
- They had a job where they 'died at 8.30 every night'

In episode 3, Hedgehog hinted that:
- He likes to be part of a team or a 'ensemble'
- He had a connection with stage shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Hairspray.
- He wants to have a ball on stage.

Truth or lie: One of the following is true:

he sometimes wears high heels onstage

once worked at a major fast food restaurant

his daughter is more famous than he is.

They have clues for all of them but I think these are the most debated according to the producers of the show in the sun today

Since the show’s launch earlier this month, speculation about the identities of the contestants has reached fever pitch. Derek and Dan insist that fans and judges are yet to guess the correct celebrities. I that's no true online but if the judges haven't guessed correctly yet I'm confused as surely daisy has to be Kelis?

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 14:49

Well, it's obviously not true as loads of people guessed Justin Hawkins.

I still think Rhydian is Hedgehog.

OP posts:
GlitterToast · 19/01/2020 15:05

Yes, I too think that Hedgehog is Rhydian.

JamMakingWannaBe · 19/01/2020 15:17

Watching on catch-up.
Could Monster be Robbie Coltrane? He voiced the Gruffalo (mouse reference).

CooCooCoo · 19/01/2020 15:19

They discovered, rock and roll while little and have always 'been an individual' inspired by Glam rock

Cee-Lo's WIki says
"Green has also acknowledged being a fan of disgraced British glam rock singer Gary Glitter, but has acknowledged to Q Magazine that he is aware of Glitter's crimes*

they sang a love Ballard to a mouse
Danger Mouse is the other member of his duo Gnarls Barkley, so perhaps related.

The Tony Hadley thing obviously points to him too.

I hope not :/

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 15:20

Why does Tony Hadley point to him?

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 15:21

The Book Worm clue is a thing I just can't work out at all.

^for Piggywaspushed

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 15:25

Ok I see. Yes, guess it could be him then... hmmm...

OP posts:
CooCooCoo · 19/01/2020 15:27

Apparantly the word "elsewhere" appeared on a map in his VT , relating to his first Gnarls Barkley album St.Elsewhere.

Hedgehog puzzles me a little but I haven't focused on him

itswinetime · 19/01/2020 15:36

Online yeah but non of the judges guessed him. And all they have to say for online is well we didn't see it. but would they out and out lie about the judges?

Maybe they would As Cee-Lo green for monster and Kelis for daisy make the most sense but I just think it's odd they would lie when they could just be vague.

Isn't Robbie Coltrane in a wheelchair now? At least he was when he opens the Hagrid ride due to osteoarthritis.

CooCooCoo · 19/01/2020 15:37

Rumour has it Octopus is Myleene Klass and I’m going to agree.

Piggywaspushed · 19/01/2020 15:43

She did go through my head yesterday. The clues really don't fit her though. She is a classically trained musician and there has been nothing to suggest this. I am still favouring a Minogue but Cheryl baker does appeal for the 'bubbly' clue.

After Teddy, it would appear we do need to listen to words really carefully with the 'bear' thrown into a sentence.

OP posts:
itswinetime · 19/01/2020 15:47

Myleene class is a great guess for octopus, she was in the jungle with Jason Donovan, and did she sign a million pound deal with playboy shortly after.

According to wiki she was born I Yarmouth-which might explain the pier and she has done modelling for m+s and has a fashion range! You are very good at this @CooCooCoo

CooCooCoo · 19/01/2020 15:50

@itswinetime She also played piano on the apprentice

Elderflower14 · 19/01/2020 16:00

Not sure it's Mylene she gave birth to her son in August and the programme was filmed in September.

CooCooCoo · 19/01/2020 16:02

Fair point!
