Coming back - to channel 4. Let us hope that they don’t muller it like they did GBBO.

Melanie Sykes is hosting. I wish they’d kept Sara.

Let us hope channel 4 grab Fern and resurrect my allotment challenge too.

I think it was the right decision too unfortunately.

I can’t help but want two out of the three to win now. One I can’t warm to at all.

Roussette · 05/03/2020 13:51

I was so disappointed with last night's result. I'm wary giving anything away on here, but I liked her toilet! It had class I thought.

And Matt got on my nerves. Before the judging, he was quite cocky, and kept saying, I like what I've done, I'm really pleased with what I've done and then said "I think I'm going to be in the Final!"

I didn't like his toilet AT ALL. I thought it was ridiculous and almost pornographic Grin but maybe I've just got a dirty mind

Lordfrontpaw · 05/03/2020 13:58

The handle was just silly.

SoupDragon · 05/03/2020 14:10

Sadly she just had a bad week. It could have happened to any of them.

I'm not sure the handle was any worse than last year's turtle head! It didn't look much like a teacup though.

Lordfrontpaw · 05/03/2020 14:14

Why would anyone want to poo in a giant teacup?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/03/2020 14:27

I think I would slightly prefer pooing in a giant teacup than in a giant trophy!

And was it just me, or did Jacob’s mushroom loo look a bit wonky?

Roussette · 05/03/2020 14:31

I can't think what would possess anyone to want to poo in a teacup Grin

Personally, I wish they'd just done a decorated toilet like the victorian examples shown at the beginning. Pooing in a teacup, a toadstool or a trophy is weird! And I did think whatshername's woodland garden toilet was so rough and ready.

I know someone who had an original victorian toilet with a chain to pull. It was honestly beautiful.

PurpleDaisies · 05/03/2020 14:33

I really liked the fish one.

I was so sad about the result but it was the right one.

SoupDragon · 05/03/2020 14:50

I liked the garden one too - I reallyliked the fish inside. I agree that it was rough but it kind of suited a garden toilet.

SoupDragon · 05/03/2020 14:52

I think there were issues with all of them. TBH Jacob did deserve Potter of the Week for salvaging his toilet but I was surprised.

Matt's decoration was very poor I thought.

weaselwords · 05/03/2020 15:00

I do admire Jacob for bringing his toilet back from the brink as that was quite a hole in it and he got it water tight.

Sad to see Claire go, however. Her ginger jars were so lovely. I thought she be a dead cert but just had a bad week.

I quite like Jacob to win but he is so critical of himself!! Bit more of Matt’s self belief needed there.

I suspect Rosa will triumph. I think she’d make a good Mumsnetter.

ThickSock · 05/03/2020 15:11

I was so sad for Claire. But i think it was the right choice. It really could have happened to any of them though. She was unlucky.

I didn’t like the passed seat on Jacobs mushroom. I thought it looked tacky but I guess that had nothing to do with his actual pottery. He did so well to turn things around after that humungous crack in the pan.

Matt is finally getting on my nerves. I’ve been defending him and saying I can’t detect cockiness but there was no hiding it last night. And yes the placement of the handle looked really weird imo. It should have been on the side. I loved the inside or Rosas with the fishes and the bright blue.

JunkshopLil · 05/03/2020 18:28

Just watched this on catch up and am gutted that Claire has gone.

I honestly had her down as the winner prior to this episode, but I guess they have to go on the task and she was the worst. The toilet leaked, and not only that, the design was a bit ropey. I wasn't impressed by the teacup toilet if I'm honest, the finish was lousy but what was impressive was how he created it in one huge piece.

Loved the other two - the mushroom toilet and the garden one. Really creative and imaginative.

Very sad that such a talented potter has gone. Claire was outstanding throughout and I'm sure she's got a fantastic career ahead of her.

SoupDragon · 05/03/2020 18:31

She had a nightmare week this week didn't she? Dodgy teapot transfers plus the toilet disaster. A huge shame and I agree she is very talented.

Lordfrontpaw · 05/03/2020 18:33

I don’t know who I want to win (not me smug - I’m sure he’s a lovely man but sheesh...). The young fella or the eccentric woman (I’d love to go mudlarking and for drink with her!)

MingVase · 05/03/2020 18:51

Crap, I shouldn't have read this as I haven't managed to watch it yet -- I'm really surprised at who left. She must have had a really bad week, because I had her down as a possible winner. Her throwing is so beautiful and accurate, and her upper-body strength from body building really helps her throwing big pieces, and while her design has always been rather dull, I thought the fact that she did so unexpectedly well on the sgraffito jug challenge suggested she was belatedly developing that side of her.

VirtualHamster · 05/03/2020 18:55

I don't think they were a good combination of challenges for the semi final. Am i getting confused with bake off, or did they used to do 3 challenges?

I think the right person went based on the challenges, but because of the nature of the challenges it seems to be more luck than judgement.

TheKilnTheGodsandTheToilet · 06/03/2020 15:04

Gosh I love this programme, especially toilet week seeing the judges peer down the bowl to watch the flushing - but then I'm a cleaner so #relatable as my DD jokes.
Claire was the best potter ime but her toilet decoration was disappointing, what a shame.
The whole crowd back next week to celebrate the winner.
Restores my faith in nice people out there!

SoupDragon · 06/03/2020 15:12

I think it's only ever been 2 challenges... I can't think of a third one anyway. Just the long main challenge and the small "throw down" challenge.

Roussette · 06/03/2020 17:50

Next week looked like cups and saucers or something similar, from the clip.

If it is something like that, I honestly think Jacob has a good chance.

SoupDragon · 06/03/2020 17:55

Hmmmm... a full tea set maybe?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/03/2020 21:34

I want Claire to win

I wanted her to as well < gutted >

The Sewing Bee IS back, isn't it? The last series was on last winter.

What? How the hell did I miss that?

I'll have to see if it's still on catch-up or youtube or something. My friend has been looking out for it too, and she's elderly disabled so spends a lot of time watching TV with a dog on her feet, and she hasn't seen anything either.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/03/2020 21:36

I didn't like his toilet AT ALL. I thought it was ridiculous and almost pornographic

I thought the same Rousette - that handle was stupid. (And it would have been stupid even on the side, Keef.)

thegirlwhowaited · 06/03/2020 23:08

I’m pretty sure those winter episodes were repeats parps

Happy to be corrected though Smile

JasperRising · 06/03/2020 23:24

Last series of Sewing Bee was March/April 2019 with Joe Lycett hosting.
