I'm not sure about it, it's a bit try-hard and all over the place with the plot.

Also, does Henry Cavill always sound like that, it's an incredibly odd way of speaking. I mean, does he phone up to order a take-away speaking like that?

Yes us agree about his voice. Just seen episode
2 and is seems a bit promising although v cheesy in places

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/12/2019 20:27

I haven't seen him in anything else (as far as I can remember) so I don't know if his natural speaking voice is that low.

Mmmmm Henry 🤤

melissasummerfield · 21/12/2019 20:30

I watched the first one and thought it was awful! I dont know how people are still watching it Confused

CarolineForbes · 21/12/2019 20:32

I read earlier that he made his voice even deeper for the character. Not loving as much as I thought (2 eps in) but enjoying it enough that I’m keen to continue watching. Think it will get better once all the scene setting is done.

Pinkblueberry · 21/12/2019 20:34

I reckon the story is probably quite good - but with all the strange words and lingo it was a bit hard to make sense of it. Also, the characters are all a bit wooden - not that there has to be great laughs, but a bit of wit or clever dialogue from at least one of them would have gone a long way. I think Henry Cavill is pretty good in it - but the supporting cast don’t seem to have much to give. Characters are everything.

DM1209 · 21/12/2019 20:34

I've made it to episode 3 in the hope of giving it a fair chance but I just cannot get into it at all.

It is chaotic in places and when you normally watch a tv show, things click into place as the show goes on but this hasn't happened. The language also doesn't seem to flow with the era that it's supposed to be set in.

DM1209 · 21/12/2019 20:36

He's the Man of Steel, Justice League and Batman v Superman to name a few.

Mumof1andacat · 21/12/2019 20:53

He was in the the tudors. Henry in that is a feast for the eyesWink

DeanImpala67 · 21/12/2019 21:04

Yes we're watching it, and really enjoying it, but we have read the books and played the video games. Loving Cavill as Geralt and his voice is perfect, spot on like the games. Also really enjoying Yennefer's back story. Hope the season finishes well (only on episode 4) and already looking forward to season 2.

Hoppinggreen · 21/12/2019 21:08

I like the books, I was really looking forward to it, I really want to like it
But it’s awful

Celebelly · 21/12/2019 21:48

Just finished it here and we both really enjoyed it, but we are avid gamers who love the games Smile It's getting good reviews generally from what I've seen. Looking forward to season 2!

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 22/12/2019 13:15

I'm struggling a bit with the timeline.

Celebelly · 22/12/2019 13:19

It helps to realise there are three separate timelines, with Ciri's being the 'present day' and the other two working to catch up to each other and hers.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 22/12/2019 13:21

I got that, but it's still a but jumbled up.

Fun though.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 22/12/2019 13:22

Hang on, three?

I thought it was two. I watch at night with a glass of wine, maybe that complicates things further.

sakura06 · 22/12/2019 13:26

I'm loving it, but I love fantasy, and Henry Cavill is gorgeous. I've only figured out there's 2 timelines though (just saw episode 3).

Celebelly · 22/12/2019 13:27

Yennefer's timeline and Geralt's are different until they intersect. A lot of time passes in Yen's story, whereas not so much in Geralt's (a decade or so v several decades in Yen's case).

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 22/12/2019 13:31

Thanks, I sort of see Yen's story as a flashback and the two timelines as separate, but yes, it's three altogether.

jaggynettle · 22/12/2019 14:48

I'm watching it - am on episode 5 now. Thought episode one was a load of rubbish but it's worth sticking with. My other half is a gamer and has played the game before whereas it's all new to me.

SomeKindOfMonster · 22/12/2019 14:50

It's my favourite game but I can't get past episode 1.

If it gets better might go back to it though.

rslsys · 22/12/2019 16:44

Nope, episode 1 didn't grab us at all. Won't persevere as there is too much other good stuff to see.

FurryDogMother · 22/12/2019 17:03

I'm 3 episodes in and I'm loving it - took me a while to cop on to the fact that the timelines varied, but I got there in the end. It's just eye candy - not only Henry, but the sets, costumes, monsters etc. Fantastic escapism (and yes, I'm a gamer).

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 23/12/2019 22:03

I watched it. The voice is how video game Geralt speaks.

I'm glad they did the voice, makes Henry Cavill even sexier.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 23/12/2019 22:04

Oh, I've played the games. Playing Witcher 3 right now.
