I'm not sure about it, it's a bit try-hard and all over the place with the plot.

Also, does Henry Cavill always sound like that, it's an incredibly odd way of speaking. I mean, does he phone up to order a take-away speaking like that?

Oh, it helps to understand the Yennefer is nearly 100 years old so has a lot of catching up to Geralts story, then Ciri's.

CarolineForbes · 23/12/2019 22:20

Finished it today and absolutely loved it in the end. Might re-watch it next week during my annual leave Blush

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/12/2019 23:09

I've just finished it. All the mentions about timelines here helped to reduce my frustration with it as I was assuming it was all at the same time and it wasn't making logical sense that way.

I'm afraid the alleged sexiness of Henry Cavill escapes me, the guy playing Istred was very attractive though, although probably at least two decades too young for me. Grin

I've just finished it. I enjoyed it. Especially henry cavill, whom I was previously unaware of! Very nice.

Anyway no second series so what should I watch next, in a similar vein?

ElsasSalamander · 29/12/2019 21:25

I’m just starting episode 2 & feeling utterly confused! Who is the girl who went through the portal? Also can’t recall what the young princess is called?

TheLurkingOne · 29/12/2019 22:23

I think if you keep watching it things start to make sense, but it's frustrating as things only really added up for me in the last episode! Kinda felt like it was just getting going when it ended.

Hoppinggreen · 30/12/2019 12:12

I’ve just given it another go and am actually quite enjoying it now
Once you figure out the timeline thing it all makes much more sense

Seashell80 · 30/12/2019 13:16

Finished ep4 last night and everything is falling in to place for me now I understand the timelines! Husband is still confused though🤷🏻‍♀️
Absolutely love the bard!(name escapes me) his voice is fab 🎵

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 30/12/2019 13:46

Found eps 1 and 2 so confusing but will give it another go thanks to this thread

Doingtheboxerbeat · 31/12/2019 09:30

I want to know why whatever show or film I finish, Netflix really really wants me to watch this and Netflix knows what I like and this is so far from what I like. I don't mind a bit of fantasy or magic but I don't really like shows that feature a lot of nouns where the characters are described as "Boxer of Midlandshire, lover of all things furry". I guess what I want to know is, is this like the Game of Thrones?

StormBaby · 31/12/2019 09:37

We absolutely loved it, was a bit cheesy but the 'transformation' scene was my favourite.

user1480880826 · 31/12/2019 09:39

Worst thing I’ve ever watched on Netflix (and I’ve watched a lot!). I can’t believe it’s getting such good reviews. Everything about it is awful.

PlanDeRaccordement · 31/12/2019 09:50

I really liked it. Nothing wrong with Henry Cavil. The voice is spot on. The fight choreography is really good. The fight between him and Renfrey was really well done. Also the world weary attitude and WTFs.
There are some good supporting actors and some not so good.
At least the bard is not too annoying. I hope the princess character gets a little more attention. Her lines have all been whining or running for her life.
Yennifer is a good character and the actress is good as well.

Hellohah · 31/12/2019 09:53

We binged watched it in less than 2 days. I loved it, so sorry it finished

CoffeeCoinneseur · 31/12/2019 10:09

Gave up after episode 3. DH persevered. Though I've just told him there are 3 different timelines and he looks confusedGrin

NightsOfCabiria · 31/12/2019 10:12

It’s shit but Henry Cavill is gorgeous so I watch it with the sound turned down.

colouringinpro · 02/01/2020 01:14

I'm so confused!

Hoppinggreen · 02/01/2020 19:31

coulouring apologies for spoilers but it all makes sense if you know
The Yennifer timeline is on the past, she’s around 100 when she first meets The Witcher
The Witcher timeline is now
The destruction of the city of Cintra and the blonde girl (Ciri) being on the run is in the future
All 3 timelines will start to come together in episode 3/4 and it will make sense if you persevere

IgnoranceIsStrength · 02/01/2020 19:36

I loved it. Never played the game or read the books but thought the time lines came together really well.

gamerwidow · 02/01/2020 19:39

It’s stupid but it knows it’s stupid which kind of makes it work.
First few episodes are confusing but I think it all came together nicely for a promising season 2 by the end. I love the relationship between Geralt and Jaskier. I’ll miss him if his not around in season 2.

Someonesayroadtrip · 02/01/2020 21:45

I absolutely love it, which is weird as I have never been into things like this before. It did take until episode 3 for me to get into it though. "Toss a coin to your Witcher, oh valley of plenty".

DimplesMcGee · 03/01/2020 13:30

Watching it with DH and we’re both really enjoying it. I like it when Gerald goes “Humph” when he’s unimpressed. I don’t think it’s taking itself too seriously which helps.

DimplesMcGee · 03/01/2020 13:33

*Geralt, I mean

PostNotInHaste · 03/01/2020 13:40

Loved it, haven’t read the books or played game as DH and DS have. Did get Henry Cavill and Jonathan Rhys Meyers muddled at the start which confused me somewhat until I realised my error.

Thought the voice was good for the type of character.

PanemEtCircenses · 03/01/2020 13:40

I slagged it off after each episode but then watched another. Confused Actually I think it does what it does fairly well - a lot of ground is covered in a short series so at least it’s fast moving unlike some fantasy that takes too long to establish everything. I thought it hung together well, too - I expected a lot of loose ends so the final episode was unexpectedly satisfying.
