See you tomorrow if I'm in. I might be out - depending on how the cats settle.

Footle · 17/12/2019 21:03

@PotterHead1985 , good luck tomorrow.

Wolfcub · 17/12/2019 21:10

Good luck Potter

Wolfcub · 17/12/2019 21:12

Unique I'm not sure what it is, his accent hasn't really registered, I'm just not loving him

Pierrettelasanguinaire · 17/12/2019 21:56

having never tasted fig leaf

Redolent of sweaty jock strap, probably Xmas Envy

Feelingfestivenow · 18/12/2019 09:41

Bit late here but I really find something quite odd about Exose, for someone who did not know what to do to prep an artichoke to now, just something not right to me.

But I really like Stu, but I think (as I have since the beginning ) Exose will win it, but dont think he should.

Feelingfestivenow "Bit late here but I really find something quite odd about Exose, for someone who did not know what to do to prep an artichoke to now, just something not right to me."

It was obviously just an isolated gap in his knowledge and experience, but it just shows that the judges were right to put him through after that first round, as he's extremely accomplished. He's got the right temperament for a chef in staying calm under pressure too.

I don't know why you're so sure he will win it (unless you have 'inside knowledge' of the winner) after the performances last night. With the possible exception of Yann they all did outstandingly well last night in the chefs' table episode. I don't think I've ever heard so much praise from the Michelin starred chefs before.
IMO they all have a good chance.

I think Olivia is going to win at this point, but I wouldn't be unhappy if Exose or Stu won. I would be if Yann did as I think he's the weakest.

BillieEilish · 18/12/2019 14:25

It's Exose or Olivia to win IMO.
Stu next (I love him)

Yann is lovely but the weakest IMO. That's saying something, they are all amazing.

Miss Navy chef, he was so fabulous.

SapatSea · 18/12/2019 19:00

Yann's food often looks great but gets criticised. I agree he seems the weakest. I haven't liked anything Exose has cooked, his puddings always look bery sickly and noy quite right to mein terms of texture. I thought his turbot cassoulet was a bit simple for the chef's table but obviously it tasted great.

I thought the chef's gave greater praise this year. I laughed when Jockie Petrie liked Olivia's dish with all the technical wizardy of foams and gels and snows etc. I knew it'd be up his street.

I think Olivia is amazing for her age, unflappable. I think Exose has potential and a good manner but does "protest too much" that he is under pressure, given himself more to do etc when it is just as much (or sometimes less) than others. Stu has been the dark horse coming up and getting better. He's a bit older than O&E and you can see how he is incorporating elements from the rounds in the michelin kitchens (miso gels etc). I though the menu overall was a bit too fishy.

I think it's pretty close between Stu, Olivia and Exose, whoever mucks up even a little will be gone and it's so hard when M&M like their meat so pink . I think Exose has been favoured by the editing , doesn't mean he'll win. I think Olivia and Stu are actually stronger cooks overall. However, who ever wins I'm sure they all have made great impressions on the show and further training with great chefs will be open to them.

PotterHead1985 · 18/12/2019 19:56

I'm here. I'm sore. Anaesthetic has worn off. Is owwie. Hope nice cooking and a generous helping of yelling fuck off Greggg (along with wine) will help. My Chinese didn't. It was too fatty and cloying.

Grinchly · 18/12/2019 20:01

I'm here!

PotterHead1985 · 18/12/2019 20:01

Oooh tears?!? Actual tears???

fourquenelles · 18/12/2019 20:01

Glad you are OKish PotterHead wine will help!

My Chinese is OK just to rub it in. Special fried rice and chicken satay.

Here we go!

fourquenelles · 18/12/2019 20:04

Has Gregggg branched out into fishmongery?

PotterHead1985 · 18/12/2019 20:04

@fourquenelles I had Yung Chow Fried Rice. It was like special but so fatty. I was not impressed. I needed nice dinner. Should have just cooked despite the pain.

Ordered my Beef for New Years Day. Have my Duck for Christmas Day. Still no tree up. Hopefully tomorrow (so behind)

(Mammy potter - oh fuck off greggg!!)

Grinchly · 18/12/2019 20:05

Like sound of Olivia's dish

RomaineCalm · 18/12/2019 20:05

I'm back and I've missed you all!

PotterHead1985 · 18/12/2019 20:05

I love curry. I make some mean Indian food if I do say so myself. I love a good raita

Grinchly · 18/12/2019 20:06

Oh yum and Yann's also

fourquenelles · 18/12/2019 20:07

I've no tree up yet either PotterHead as I have the builders in. Don't know whether I will get round to it this year.

PotterHead1985 · 18/12/2019 20:07
