Just got a notification it's back. Swamped with work so wouldn't watch until mid week (I am a binge watcher so need all night) but wanting to see what everyone thinks of it before I do watch it hence, starting this thread.

OP posts:

I've just watched episode one. I'm not sure at the moment....

Eminybob · 17/11/2019 12:29

Ooh has it all dropped in one go? That’s dangerous!
Can’t wait Grin

magicstar1 · 17/11/2019 12:35

I’m on episode 2...in stitches at the limericks. I won’t say any more so as not to spoil.

Stupiddriver1 · 17/11/2019 12:37

I’ve just started the binge, on episode 1.

Eminybob · 17/11/2019 12:41

I’ve just put ep 1 on.
I was very attached to the original cast, this is going to take some getting used to.

Theimpossiblegirl · 17/11/2019 12:46

DH is on nights next week so that's me sorted!

magicstar1 · 17/11/2019 13:29

Episode 3 is just heartbreaking

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 17:09

Ok, I’m going in.

itswinetime · 17/11/2019 17:18

Episode 3 is a tough watch. Very emotional! I thought it would take longer to get just to the cast than it has that said I'm not sure Olivia Coleman has quite got the queen right. It doesn't feel as natural as Claire foy maybe but then it's still early days.

Stargazer9 · 17/11/2019 17:32

I've watched a bit of episode 1 (thought I'd have longer but kids came home early). Initial thoughts are that I'm not sure. I loved the old cast, I hope I end up loving this one too. I think part of my problem is that I associate Colman/Bonham Carter with other characters, and I didn't with Claire Foy, she just was HM.

AppleKatie · 17/11/2019 18:14

I’ve just watched the first few mins because I couldn’t wait. I like it and I think I will become used to the new cast pretty quickly.

Helena Bonham Carter was particularly strong in her first couple of scenes.

Awrite · 17/11/2019 18:37

I'm on episode 1. Have taken quite a fancy to the MI5 guy.

Brot64 · 17/11/2019 18:55

Just starting episode one now!!!! The trend appears to be a very mixed review. DP was in all day and has watched to episode 4 alone and isn't telling so very keen on seeing how different the acting is compared to the first 2 seasons.

Oh just watched episode 3 Sad

juneybean · 17/11/2019 18:57

I get that season 3 will likely span 15 years or so, but feel HBC is slightly too old for Margaret? She's mid 30's in eps 1/2 surely? (that's as far as we've watched so far)

bigchris · 17/11/2019 19:07

The queen looks ten years older than her Grin

toomuchfaster · 17/11/2019 19:09

Where is it on? I thought C4 but can't find it All4??

itswinetime · 17/11/2019 19:13

My feelings so far is that casting for the queen mother isn't good. It maybe it's just the way they are portraying her now it's just not as strong as the others I think, I definitely don't warm to her the way I did on the past. Everyone else I quite like. HBC as Margaret is a stroke of genius I think. The actress playing Anne is brilliant, from the little I have seen of her. I'm still not sure about Olivia Coleman it feels kind of like she is playing a caricature of the queen as opposed to in previous years where I feel she was portrayed more as a person if that make sense. That's my feelings I only got up to episode 4 though before life took over! So maybe as things settle I will change my mind when I watch further.

itswinetime · 17/11/2019 19:13

The crown is on Netflix.

squashyhat · 17/11/2019 19:15

Netflix

Awrite · 17/11/2019 19:38

Okay, two episodes in and it's still Olivia Coleman and Helena Bonham Carter. I think they are just too famous.

Rhubarbisevil · 17/11/2019 20:08

Pmk - have watched the first half of the first episode and then Netflix conked out.

Freeshavocado · 17/11/2019 20:30

I've watched the first 2 so far, not sure on Olivia Colman yet but I think HBC is perfect.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 20:42

Just watched episode 1.
Olivia Colman as an actress is always a pleasure to watch, but I feel like she is playing a parody of the Queen. Compared to Claire Foy who really seemed to inhabit the character.
I’m not hooked yet. I suspect the next episode about Margaret will be more entertaining.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 20:44

Just read your post @itswinetime
Yep, I got the same vibe.
