De-lurked to say, Quickstep with Joe Varney to I Wanna Hold You by McFly. Would need a lie down straight after though as it really would be quick.

CaptainBrickbeard · 17/11/2019 16:16

Ooh I’d like to do a Viennese waltz with Aljaz to Winter Dream by Kelly Clarkson in a Christmas special please!

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 17/11/2019 16:29

May I also do a Hallowe'en quickstep with Aljaz to The Lovecats by The Cure.

Clawdy · 17/11/2019 16:29

Let's hope Michelle goes tonight. She won't though.

100PercentThatBitch · 17/11/2019 16:30

Pirouetting Placemark

ThursdayLastWeek · 17/11/2019 16:30

Either a waltz to True Love Ways by Buddy Holly or a jive to Rave On also by Buddy Holly. My fave pro is Gio but I’m not sure if he would be right for those dances, they’re a bit early series. Maybe Brendan would be better.

KurriKawari · 17/11/2019 16:40

Re: Saffron. When it was announced that a youtuber was going in I remember everyone rolling their eyes. Whether she is a celeb or not is beside the point, I think at 19 she's done really well, handled herself, kept pace with the others, yes she's a bit 'vacant' but at least she's not loud and annoying, like I expected a YouTuber to be. She's really trying and has been a surprise. I did think her fanbase would get her through the competition regardless of how awful she danced but actually she's danced in a way that she can be proud of.

SoupDragon · 17/11/2019 16:56

I don't think she is any more or less vacant than all the other contestants. I really don't understand it.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 17/11/2019 17:01

I agree @KurriKawari - Saffron has really grown on me and actually made me like AJ a bit more!

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 17/11/2019 17:03

I meant to copy and paste but I lolled at Joe Varney's thrice fuck yous whoever that poster was

That was me

Have had mice, rats, bats, snails and a frog but not a vole. Not envious: Sorry - that above was posted on the last thread, about someone thing non-dancing related and I can't recall who posted it

That was also me

Fantasy Glitterball Something by Someone with that pro, you know, whatsisname Wink Grin

100PercentThatBitch · 17/11/2019 17:05

She's neither here nor there for me, I haven't particularly bought into them as a partnership, or feel invested in their dances, neither do I have any dislike for her. She's just there. I've felt like that about other couples across the series though.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 17/11/2019 17:07

I jest. having considered making Forget You cha cha and Unforgettable that's not what I am jokes Grin

I would dance an American Smooth with Aljaz and his bench to Listen to the Man by George Ezra provided Aljaz nicks Nadiya's skippety move from Davood's AS (they probably all do it at some point) and Aljaz wears Ian McKellen's hat.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 17/11/2019 17:07

Very true @100PercentThatBitch. My favourite couples personality-wise are Chris and Karin and Kelvin and Oti. I'd happily have both of them in the final (although Kelvin is way more talented obviously).

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 17/11/2019 17:11

Aljaz is going to be knackered after we've all finished with him (oo-er missus).

cordelia16 · 17/11/2019 17:13

What made me really impressed with Saffron was the way she immediately thanked Tommy and the band following her "New York, New York" performance. That shows a lot of class, in my opinion. Most of the celebs don't even acknowledge the band/singers. But she immediately turned to Tommy to thank him.

I also commended Joe for that last year - he hugged each and every backing dancer following his Blackpool performance. Again, pure class.

Considering that a lot of ppl look down their noses at "social media stars" I for one feel very positive about their manners and gratefulness and don't quite get the derision for Saffron. She works hard, she gives 100% to each dance, and she is very grounded. I hope she makes it to the final. I also think she dances beautifully, and I love the connection that she and AJ have together.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 17/11/2019 17:19

If I was at least a foot taller, I’d probably choose Matthew Cutler. Either a waltz of foxtrot. My mind’s a blank on the song though.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 17/11/2019 17:25

So with 4 weeks to go and Judges' mentoring dance as well (in semis now we're a couple down? does that mean no rigathon next week?) the 7 couples have these left...
wk 10/wk 11 musicals/semis with judges collaboration instead of a 2nd dance to learn, what do we think?/finals...
Alex & Neil - Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Argentine Tango, Samba & Salsa
Chris & Karen - Rumba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Paso Doble, and Argentine Tango
Emma B & Anton - Cha Cha Cha, Quickstep, Samba, Waltz, Charleston and Argentine Tango
Karim & Amy - Waltz, Jive, Rumba, American Smooth, Argentine Tango & Couple's Choice
Kelvin & Oti - Paso Doble, Foxtrot, Quickstep, American Smooth, Argentine Tango & Couple's Choice
Michelle & Giovanni - Waltz, Jive, Tango, Samba, Charleston & Argentine Tango
Saffron & AJ - Rumba, Samba, Charleston, Viennese Waltz, American Smooth & Argentine Tango

Karmadog · 17/11/2019 17:27

I Matthew 😟

Karmadog · 17/11/2019 17:28

MISS for God’s sake!!👿

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/11/2019 17:40

Sorry if it's already been confirmed.. but I remember seeing some posters thinking that Artem was a backing dancer last night. It wasn't him, he was otherwise engaged judging by Instagram.

BackOnceAgainWithABurnerEmail · 17/11/2019 17:46

Michelle’s was so meh with a side order of Confused - what a waste of a couples choice. Street commercial, in strictly away, seems hugely easier than any other dance. You can’t get away with waving your arms and walking and get 30+ for anything else.

Only really enjoyed Alex’s last night.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/11/2019 17:48

Does anyone else think that Saffron is a bit vacant?

More than a bit.

She seems a nice enough girl, but I always get the impression that the lights are on but there's nobody at home.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/11/2019 17:55

I'd go with Kevin or Pacha, a quickstep to Na Na Na by My Chemical Romance or a waltz to Lavender by Marillion.

NumbersStation · 17/11/2019 18:00

I just don’t get Saffron. Maybe I’m too old. I can appreciate that she dances well and acknowledges the band (lovely thing to do) but I feel the princely sum of feckall when she dances. Same with Karim.

I would say I’ve a hard black heart but I’ve been crying to Christmas adverts and I broke my heart when Jodie Whittaker sang Yellow for Children in Need.

I’m not a hundred percent b’stard. I just feel nowt with them two.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/11/2019 18:10

I would swap our rat for a whole flock of bad-tempered butty rams, Fuzzy

We've had a rat before - about 12/15 years ago there was one under the same shed that I think this one is lurking under.

We knew there was a nocturnal visitor - we thought we had a hedgehog. We were feeding it (Oh! The irony!).

Got the Ratman out an everything, but a dog got it. (We had terriers then - they're amazing little buggers for vermin)

Next bit:

To all defending Saffron - I agree - she's a nice girl, she dances well, she's got good manners

However - she does not have any "WOW" factor (not to my bleary old eyes anyway). This is not an insult, or a detraction - it is a comment and my opinion. I don't dislike her - I just think she's bland - a vanilla dancer, if you like.
