I love William and his mum - they are great!

Old episodes are available to watch again online here (in Parenting Video On Demand box) Doesn't look like they have put last nights episode on there yet but I'm assuming they will do at some point (I missed it too)

Actually, this time around, this program is annoying the pants off me! I am sooo irritated at the way in which behaviour as demonstrated by that 'exclusive private schooled' brat being hailed as '"X" will be a success' because he needs to win, win, win at any cost. Did anyone else find him to be an insufferable little toerag? It's as if we've all sat down and agreed that THESE are the parameters which are worthy of being striven for, no debate, no questioning whether Monday tennis, Tuesday French, Wednesday Piano etc etc- remember, win win win! are in fact healthy for a) the child and b) society as a whole. I would have accepted it if the tenure of the program was "This is how child A behaves under these circumstances. This is his background". Instead it was "This is how amazingly successful A is and this is how his parents have achieved it and e
'encourage' him all the way!"-(because his parents act like a constant taxi service and PUSH him all the way! Always! He cannot fail or more private tutoring! Quick!). We also witnessed the rather insipid wife blame her parents for her 'failure to reach her potential'. I had far more time for the little Welsh farm girl though her father was a bit of a cold fish!

The Christian retreat is flipping gorgeous, too. Great place for camping, lol. I'm a bit cheesed off I missed it, we haven't seen them for ages. Why don't they advertize stuff like this properly? I'm always catching bleedin' Eastenders trails. grrr.

Thanks Goddledigook. I'm William's mother and I think that most people who actually know me would say I'm anything but insipid! It's a difficult situation being portrayed as 'the well off lot'; most ordinary people like ourselves any anything but well off when every spare penny goes on school fees. Its especially difficult to see wonderful, acheiving children getting their education free because you're always asking yourself if you've made the wrong decision. Will is a little monkey in environments where he is comfortable but still very shy in many circumstances. Thankfully the children have no idea about different social groups and I hope that will last as long as possible; we have very goodfriends who range from being very poor to very wealthy, we choose our friends because we like them not for what they represent. We're just ordinary folk with problems and arguments and very bad parenting techniques - and probably bloody fools to boot.
