ah yes I remember them. I wonder what they are like now?!

Sidge · 19/08/2007 21:05

I only saw the last 20 minutes. What a stupid time to air a show for the group most likely to watch - parents of younger children

Marina · 19/08/2007 21:16

Missed it too, agree with everyone else - we were otherwise engaged

Marina · 19/08/2007 21:17

Baller triplets not filmed for this set of programmes, according to the Radio Times

TheQueenOfQuotes · 19/08/2007 21:56

I actually thought it was more interesting than some of the earlier ones........lets face it "babies are crawling, walking and pooing" - hardly much to talk about is there /

They haven't trailed this series at all, and I've looked on the website - it doesn't seem to be repeated. How annoying and wierd.

Gobbledigook · 19/08/2007 22:37

I thought it was interesting. I asked ds1 (6.5) the one about teh boxes (box 1 - easy puzzle that all children his age could do, box 2 - half the children his age could do, box 3 - only a few people his age could do) and he picked box 3. When I asked him why he said 'because I know I could work it out and then I'd be one the few that could do it'.

Hmmm, yep, competitive!!

I also asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up and he said a footballer - a pretty stock answer from a 6 yr old boy I reckon!

TwoIfBySea · 19/08/2007 22:55

I thought the time it was on (6.30 here in Scotland) suitable as I could settle down to watch with dts. They are now quite interested in what is going on although born at the arse end of 2001 they are a bit younger. They got so excited when they found out the Scottish twins are on next week.

Doesn't everyone do the wee tests? Dts1 was extremely concerned with James kicking the panda "Is that because he leaves his room messy?" Figure that link out!

Gobbledigook · 19/08/2007 22:58

Hmm, ds1 and ds2 (6 and 4) watched a bit of it and were quite shocked by James's behaviour - not that mine are angels! When he said that if he found a wallet he would just take it home with him my boys were quite shocked.

TwoIfBySea · 19/08/2007 22:58

Oh and dts1 still wants to be a pilot, which is now 2 years he has gone on about that but he also wants to be "boss of the school like Mr Simpson." So pilot and headteacher for him.

Dts2 wants to fix things, what kind of things I asked, big important things.

There you go.

Gobbledigook · 19/08/2007 22:59

I couldn't believe how they were climbing up the stairs adn how much writing was on the doors and walls.

Did anyone notice that in one clip where Megan was going to help her Dad fix a harvester, she was in the back of the car eating something and she didn't have a seat belt on??

Gobbledigook · 19/08/2007 23:00

When ds1 said a footballer I asked why - he said 'because you get to do lots of exercise and run about'.

Gobbledigook · 19/08/2007 23:00

Ds2 (4) said he wanted to a be 'a tiger......no, a dog' ????

TwoIfBySea · 19/08/2007 23:01

I suppose with his background James is living up to the stereotype. Such a shame though. But it does say something about our children that they knew it was wrong what he was doing.

UnquietDad · 19/08/2007 23:30

My heart sank when Charley's mum went to a "spiritualist" and it was presented without comment as a perfectly normal thing to do, like going to the doctor or dentist.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 19/08/2007 23:32

I know what you mean UD - and being told "you face some challenges this year".......woohoo welcome to the rest of the world.....

UnquietDad · 19/08/2007 23:35

I know, it wasn't exactly like she told her anything that was rocket science. "You need to spend more time with a girl who may need your attention"... no shit, Sherlock. And Charley's mum, bless her, while I'm sure she is a lovely girl and a great mother, doesn't exactly seem the sharpest tool in the box - so she's the ideal receptacle for this kind of scamming.

Clary · 19/08/2007 23:38

so fed up to have missed this.

Turned on TV after bedtime etc to see the trailer for next week's (sigh)

Had seen no trails for it and we have the TV on all the time (double sigh)

Is it repeated on digital at all????

UnquietDad · 19/08/2007 23:40

On BBC website on their on-demand service here

Clary · 19/08/2007 23:44

Thanks UD on the ball as ever

MummyPenguin · 20/08/2007 09:02

Is this a new series then? Caught the end of it last night, and was surprised to see it on. I'm sure that little character in the Comfort fabric conditioner ad is modelled on Prof. Winston.

elasticbandstand · 20/08/2007 09:06

thanks for the link unquietdad.
the previous series really annoyed me being on at 7.30!
with my 7 year old it has to be on much later, her bedtime antics leave a lot to be desired, especially when i really want o watch somthing at 9.!

Oenophile · 20/08/2007 09:20

I noticed that Megan had no seatbelt on, too, but I also live in a rural area and do see people being very casual about seatbelt use, especially in vehicles used on farm lands. We travelled as passengers in a horsebox once and were laughed at for anxiously looking around for our belts.... it's common to keep such vehicles running through several generations and many are very crude. No excuse in Megan's case though as it appeared to be a normal car travelling on normal roads.

I smile to myself at little William, I would have loved a child bursting with self-confidence like that (I think I would, anyway..) His mother's determination for him to be self-confident seems to be paying off as he believes in himself to the point where he actually does achieve his tough goals. Doesn't he have an older brother though, rather insecure, who finds it difficult living with a William?

Also smiled at the voiceover 'Eve is growing up in idyllic circumstances, she lives on a Christian retreat...' and a dad who can imagine no greater success in life than 'being loved by God'. Kudos to him, though, for the kidney donation to improve his brother's quality of life - although I don't know the risks involved, was it perhaps a little too risky for a father of two children to undergo voluntarily?

JackieNo · 20/08/2007 09:33

Fascinating, wasn't it. We noticed the seatbelt thing - there definitely was one there - you could see it behind her. Also her dad wasn't wearing his.

Agree about it being a strange time to show it. We only caught the second half, I think.
