Have created a thread for those of us watching this via BBC Scotland and are therefore a week ahead.

Hopefully this means no spoilers on this thread for those watching via BBC 1 but opportunity to discuss for those a week ahead.

OrangeTwirlGates post doesn't contain a spoiler for episode 2 . What she describes was in Ep 2. Or are we not supposed to discuss the plot at all?

At or towards the end of ep2 Jake was looking through photos and saw one taken in a pub where Angie was a barmaid, recoiling by the flash but recognisable. The scene then continued with her walking away past the barman we'd already seen and towards where the woman from across the road who blackmailed Max for 20,000 pounds was sitting.

So something was obviously up as she hadn't just arrived from the States for Walter's funeral and the implication was she knew Walter's blackmailing sinister neighbour.

Yes, she worked as a barmaid in the pub we saw in the very first scene where the landlord put up a help needed sign in the window. You see her at the end. Brother #2 (sorry forgotten characters name) was looking at their website right at the end and saw the picture of her there working behind the bar. He was prompted to look at the website by the box of matches she gave him to light hus cigarette - it had the pub name on the front and he got curious. But also we saw the scene where she walked across the road and had a conversation with the elderly neighbour about "what they'd done" together. Perhaps you missed the whole of the last 10 minutes?

Yes I suppose she could still be the niece but brother#2 was suspicious because the old photo of the little girl with red hair looked norhing like her. And she certainly hadn't just come over from Chicago (as claimed). We'll see, I guess!

It has nothing to do with not discussing the plot but not giving away the plot if you are one episode behind.

So in posting the ending to episode 2 before it had ended on BBC1 it is a spoiler.

That's why I thought it would be easier to have 2 threads as with other series broadcast at different times on different channels.

@StumbledIn - but Orangetwirl posted after it had finished on the BBC.

If people are one episode behind perhaps they should avoid the thread until they've watched?

Anyway, I will watch Ep 3 on i-player tonight and if I have anything to say will make sure I do on your thread.

We have watched the first two episodes.
The first was almost funny like a dark comedy. However the second episode is less funny and more dark and mysterious.
It is VERY good. We are hooked and looking forward to next week.
Great acting and clever writing.

Anyone else wondering why Walter was out so late at night on the night he was run over? If he was so ill with cancer, would he have been out wandering the streets? Was he visiting the old lady over the road and if so, why?

I think there is a Cohen brothers feel to it. Dark but funny.

As the niece and neighbour as supposedly in on it and we are supposed to think it was pre-planned, I'm assuming they lured him out and shoved him infront of the car?

Oh okay - but it is confusing with the broadcast times which is partly why I thought a different thread would help for people like me who get confused.

Only problem is that there are apparently only 4 episodes in total and I had thought we would have weeks of episodes to disect.

This is so good, think I have just worked something out but no spoilers from me, reminds me of Coen brothers films as PP said. Can't wait for next episode.

I've only watched E1 and 2, on the recommendation of everyone who thought The Accident was shite!

Though fast moving, and I need everything explaining to me as I Don't Keep Up 😂- why hasn't Max the lawyer challenged the camera angle of the blackmail CD from the old lady? Given that she lives across the road, not next door. Where Mr Weird Surveillance lives. From where the incriminating footage was shot.

And who the old man is who she told him wife knows nothing

The old man played by Bill Patterson was a gangster. He was the one who had meetings with the Russian man about laundering his money.

So who killed him?

I think the brothers did by running him over but I think the old lady was poisoning him so he would have died anyway. Or did I make that up?!

and Max is saying he'd set his brother up to take the fall?
