I don’t think that was quite as bad as you lot did - maybe coz I’m watching on the iPad in bed, I don’t have that Saturday night build up.

I feel so sorry for Karim and Amy, if he’s done a paso to a proper song with a normal costume I think it would be outstanding but their costumes were so horrific they were al, I could think about.

Also sorry for Alex, that routine could have been really fun. Nobody’s fault I suppose, but she did a good job of not letting her disappointment shine through.

I just love Joe Varney. When I’m famous and on Strictly I want him as my partner please.

Cannot warm to Emma B or Catherine. Just don’t like 'em. Dunno why.

ConfCall · 27/10/2019 09:23

I might surprised that Neil didn’t record a quick message or even appear for a couple of minutes in the Clauditorium as Janette did. I hope - genuinely - that he’s all right.

Kevin was immense, and very professional in acknowledging his errors. Alex gave her all, did very well and got my vote on that basis (not a sympathy vote - if she’d been mediocre I would not have voted for her).

Wishing Will all the best, too. I hope he’s back in training soon.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 27/10/2019 09:39

I too wonder about Neil but it had only just happened so maybe no time to record anything

ManonBlackbeak · 27/10/2019 10:13

Gorka had a bit of a tantrum on Twitter last night, retweeting lots of comments asking why he wasn't brought in to replace Neil. All seemed a bit childish and unporfessional TBH. Clearly he's forgotten the time he was roped in to dance with Anastacia when Brendon was ill? This was when Neil was still a benched pro...

Not the first time he's been vocal about his unhappiness about being benched, but its just how it is. Graziano hasnt moaned about it. Joanne Clifton didn't moan the year she was benched. Neil and Luba were benched several years on the row and didn't moan.

Im wondering if he'll be back next year? There will be more female celebs next year, but I cant see the PTB being happy with the sour grapes he's shown.

derxa · 27/10/2019 10:21

I noticed last night what a sharp, snappy dancer AJ is, hadn't noticed before but he is superb. He really is, I agree.

LittleAndOften · 27/10/2019 10:27

There's a video of AJ and partner on Britain's got talent, they got through on the jive. I think it's his speciality.

InglouriousBasterd · 27/10/2019 10:41

Yeah the Neil and Alex thing is odd. Alex usually updates Instagram afterwards etc but....nothing. Literally nothing since a rehearsal video. Neil has done a bit of reposting others saying how well she did but it all just feels very strange.

DarlingNikita · 27/10/2019 10:54

Yes, I’ve gone off Gorka a bit over this. Not very gracious. Pity, because I think he’s hot.

ManonBlackbeak · 27/10/2019 11:07

He is hot. There's no getting past the fact that he's the best looking male pro, but then petulance isnt very attractive.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 27/10/2019 11:27

I wonder if it’s all quiet about Neil because they don’t yet know how bad the injury is? Given that the pro dancers must dance on with all sort of minor aches and twinges and injuries all the time, it could be potentially more serious.

It made sense to me that Kevin stepped in with Alex rather than one of the benched male pros because since splitting with Karen, his flatmate has been the guy who choreographed Alex’s dance.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 27/10/2019 11:29

Sour grapes is never an attractive look no matter how hot you are

ManonBlackbeak · 27/10/2019 11:53

Ive been wondering about Neil as well. He wasnt anywhere to be seen last night, maybe in physio or something like that? But the lack of info is concerning.

ShirleyPhallus · 27/10/2019 13:38

I’ve just got up and was really quite underwhelmed by the whole lot. I dislike these mid-weeks where there are still so many average competitors

Anyway, I loved Countess Emma, she always looks like she’s so happy when she dances and is so neat and placed, but agreed she lacked energy and also needs to lift herself in the lifts rather than rely on being small to be shucked around

Actually LOVED Karim, I thought that dance was awesome and the only one which I wanted to watch again

Michelle was alright, fine it was good but unexciting. Kelvin also good but unexciting to me

The rest of them were so blah. Catherine looked like a bag of coleslaw, her legs were so floppy and half bent. Awful. Mike and Chris prime contenders to go too.

Kevin did redeem himself slightly and made me feel weirdly warm for him. Bleugh.

ShirleyPhallus · 27/10/2019 13:43

Oh and just another shout for how awful the music and singing was. “Afraid of the dark” by steps is actually a brilliant song but they completely murdered it

covetingthepreciousthings · 27/10/2019 13:46

I don't think Gorka will be back next year (unfortunately), part of me thinks this is why him & Gemma are setting up their own YouTube channel etc in advance now.. ahead of him quitting.

I hope he does stick it out though & come back as he is a great dancer.

covetingthepreciousthings · 27/10/2019 13:47

Still seems to be all quiet on the Neil front... just seems a bit odd, Alex hasn't posted on Instagram since rehearsals. No more announcement from Neil. Really hoping it's nothing serious.

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2019 13:54

I'm going to make myself really unpopular but I liked most of it! The costumes and make up of Anton n' Emm B's dance were amazing, shame the dancing didn't match Grin.

Lady Emm's charleston in the Haunted library was fine. Nice to see her doing a cheerful dance for a change. I couldn't work out who Aliaz was meant to be though.

The ridiculous Alice in Wonderland dance deserves to be in the DO. Who thought that was a good idea for Halloween?

Chris and Janette DID looked like spectres, rather good except for the wig malfunction. Chris's dancing is improving.

Karim's dance looks the same whatever he actually dances! A very strange subject though.

Catherine is a bit meh IMO.

I LOVE Alex !! Good for her helping Kevin in their dance, I've always liked kevin he's a good guy.

Visage and Joe were good of course, she said she was born to play that part.

Kelvin and Oti were very good. (i like that Motsi said good guys to them both)

The music wasn't amazing, but that didn't affect the dancing . On the whole a good show Halloween Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 27/10/2019 13:57

Aljaz was Professor Plum, Emma was Miss Scarlet.

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2019 14:05

Oh I was just going to post a thanks for the new thread Grouchy Halloween Grin yes it was based on the Cluedo Game?

Qu1tter · 27/10/2019 14:25

I think that's why I don't enjoy watching Emma (viscountess) - because everything is always so neat and placed. Her dance last night should have been looser and more relaxed but she still seemed stiff.

I wasn't impressed with many of them last night. I also wasn't impressed that you couldn't actually see Michelle's feet for a significant proportion of her dance due to smoke. I think she was overmarked. As was Alex but I get why for her.

DC voted for AJ and Saffron.. they are fun.

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2019 14:33

Yes AJ is a gifted dancer and Saffron is good (she really seems to be enjoying herself) I just wish she'd calm down with the foundation though, she's young, her skin can't be that bad . It reminds me of Rylan's unnaturally made up look! With out the dyed beard of course Halloween Grin

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2019 14:35

Like some of the bakers in GBBO they need to remember that "Less is More".

Saw the picture of Tess and Claudia and though "Christ! Claud's got huge feet, before realising that it was a reflection in the whiney floor that doubled the size of her plates.

Mike irritates me (even when he is on the bbc thing) Saffron just has the charisma of a plank and reminds me of a mean girl.

Yes to both of these - hoping for a "Mike out" vote tonight. If he stays I will probably cry.

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 27/10/2019 14:42

Aljaz was Professor Plum, Emma was Miss Scarlet.

So that's what was going on! But it's a well-known fact that professors have leather elbows on their clothes and wear hand-knotted ties . . .

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 27/10/2019 14:42

*Knitted, not knotted
