I do think the chemistry/dynamic in the Send In the Clowns thing was quite effective. It was a proper story. That was 80% Emma giving "RADA anguish face" admittedly.

JemimaTab · 30/10/2019 15:15

I do wonder if Anton has lost his mojo a bit. But he’s a crowd favourite by all accounts, and has lasted this long, so I guess he stays as long as he wants.
I confess I went off him last year - I thought all the antics with Susannah were a bit mean. She may have been a bit of a duffer, but no one wants to be made a laughing stock.

DarlingNikita · 30/10/2019 15:54

I know what you mean, Jemima, but I do wonder how much of the 'antics' (the jokes, song and routine choices etc) are up to the dancers and how much they're dictated by the hproduction team.

DarlingNikita · 30/10/2019 15:55
  • production not hproduction Hmm

I agree with pp saying that Anton is there to appeal to a certain demographic.

There's shades of Brucie in him and he definitely harks back to a different age of Strictly.

When you compare Johannes or interpretation of dance to his,
Anton seems quite tame and risk free, but he brings an elegance to the ballroom that clearly has a fan base.

Myimaginaryfamiliarhasfleas · 30/10/2019 16:14

I love/hate Anton doing Latin. It's pure panto. But he does luvverly spins...

Myimaginaryfamiliarhasfleas · 30/10/2019 16:15

I wonder how long it will be before he has veneers.. (and if he will make Craig pay for them!)

picklemebrains · 30/10/2019 17:07

Thing is, I'd not be happy doing some of the very sensual dances with someone I wasn't intimate with. I'd have no trouble dancing with Anton. Well, if I could dance!

If you were an enthusiastic amateur, would you want to dance like that with someone you don't know- and didn't intend to get to know intimately!

Wolfcub · 30/10/2019 17:51

Has everyone seen the news articles about Will? Looks like his journey might be over

DarlingNikita · 30/10/2019 18:05

Oh that's a pity for him, if true.

picklemebrains · 30/10/2019 18:23

I did worry about him a bit- he was clearly incredibly strong, doing some of those lifts. Dancing at that level is a bit extreme though. I worried about the woman a couple of years ago with something internal- endo? Cracked rib? It's one thing for a professional to make a calculated decision about a risk or injury, I'm not sure about the celebrities. Then again he's a Paralympian, so probably knows his limits better than most.

ManonBlackbeak · 30/10/2019 18:23

Im not suprised really, as from the footage it was obvious that his injury was pretty bad.

DarlingNikita · 30/10/2019 18:25

It's official: it's on the Strictly Twitter feed.

xsquared · 30/10/2019 18:31

Oh that's very sad for Will as he was so determined and really enjoying himself.

Bowednotbroken · 30/10/2019 18:40

Very sad watching him on ITT tonight.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 30/10/2019 18:41

Just watched him and Janette on ITT. He’s in floods, she’s in floods, I’m in floods. Such a shame, he’s a lovely bloke and was genuinely loving it.

Bluerussian · 30/10/2019 18:43

I've just seen them on ITT too, it's such a shame, they were so good. I wonder if he could try again next year.

Apolloanddaphne · 30/10/2019 18:45

I've just seen the news. How very sad. I really liked him. He came across as just very lovely.

Bluerussian · 30/10/2019 18:46

Michelle is really very good. I don't know much about her and never heard of her before Strictly. Her dancing skill is amazing.

100PercentThatBitch · 30/10/2019 18:47

Oh no?! Has Will announced he's out? I will have to watch ITT in a bit

Really stupid production idea to have him jump off a table with his issues

(I know he's done it before, but still)

IDontDrinkTea · 30/10/2019 18:54

Gutted that Will is out. What will it mean for the show though? Will there still be an elimination?

ConfCall · 30/10/2019 19:01

What happened in previous years when people left? Kelly Brook, John Sargent...

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 30/10/2019 19:01

IDontDrinkTea I guess it’ll mean eliminations as usual and then a three person final?

Binglebong · 30/10/2019 19:02

Still no news about Neil. Unless I've missed something?

xsquared · 30/10/2019 19:30

@ConfCall Kelly Brook has a bereavement and John Sargeant withdrew because it was felt that he shouldn't have stayed in that far into the competition. I didn't watch it at the time but I saw a documentary where Kristina said they were to withdraw.
