Just watching ITT. I don't usually like KKFG but I did like his bit on unforgettable dances and thought his choice of dances were spot on.

I don't think Emma Weymouth will go out this weekend seeing as people may vote for her because it's her ds' birthday. Charleston is a crowd pleaser too so she should do well.

Why are Anton and Emma getting to do yer another ballroom?

Someone more clever than me eg Monkseal would probably know the patterns for odds of being eliminated on certain dances if there is a pattern eg ccc, rumba. This series we have lost two on jive.
Producers have more say on order these days? But would have thought seasoned pros would know what to avoid and what to get out the way etc Depends if they get their way or not as it has become more heavily produced.
Chris and Cath will need fans voting I'd have thought

But has Anton swerved Latin - no more than Janette is avoiding ballroom. They play to their strengths. I can see Anton not revisiting samba this year for example. He is doing the Katie Derham route.
Oti appears to be avoiding ballroom a bit/producers wanted an early rumba.
It should all balance out in the end.
Me? I would try and get cha cha out the way week 1 or avoid it entirely but I also find the waltz a bit dull and samba awkward if you cannot samba roll ahem Mike and rumba at my age would look bad. Not clothes-sniffing bad - Paddington hard stare at Gio's choreo there - but bad.
At this stage and based on judges' rankings/favouritism: Kelvin, Karim, Saffron and Emma B or Michelle pending the drag race stan vote vs Eastenders/fantons.

Adding of course that this year Janette has better reason to avoid ballroom other than her being better at Latin and that is simply that Will is always going to struggle with it.
Anton has no such excuse but that said, ringer ringah chicken dinner is not so much a ringer with the filming schedule conflicts. Had Baron von Biscuits not been injured, she'd still probably have made the final but Kelvin has made it more questionable which woman will make it...

Unfair to talk of primary dance styles as often they have training in both or have worked hard at Bum the Floor but if you do look at their pros, you might wonder why there aren't more ballroom specialists.
Also why does Aljaz have so much gapping when he's a 10 dancer?
And why has Nadiya not had a ringer if she's a 10 dancer?
Gio has done well being adept in both despite being primarily a Latin champ. And Brenda even though he competed in Latin did well at bringing his ballroom up, miss his routines. Kev is also a decent all-rounder as is Neil.
I don't know how seasoned dancers on here rank the pros' abilities. It would be interesting if anyone here thinks anyone other than the two usual suspects (Tony Beak/Janette) are faking it til they make it half the time.

@Bluffinwithmymuffin I think she was referring to one of the contestants being a baker? (Was she a telly cook?). I'm not sure either tbh.

If my memory holds, doing this without the aid of Google! She was a chef on TV-AM back in the day on ITV. This would be mid eighties. I may be completely wrong, I'm sure someone will clarify

Bloodsucks thanks for the info, hope you finally got to sleep last night. Maybe it’s just Anton; I don’t know, but he seems to me to make everything he dances look like a ballroom number. You probably aren’t aware, but Anton actually is the king of ballroom... yawns

Ah cheers, yes I did eventually before being woken up by my kiddies 2 hours ago. Thanks evil. Still cannot get over how James's posture was after a fortnight's tango training - Luba's a 10 dancer? She needs some of Oti or Katya's tricks/props in training room next time.
Anton still has cha cha and rumba left if he swerves samba and does his second AT. In fairness his rumba with Katie was okay but cha cha wasn't. Although I quite liked his cha cha with Fiona before she stamped on his foot and kneed him in the balls
Loved him and Emma's Viennese, hated their fox, thought their salsa was not very salsa-y but they nailed characters and think if she does it for a living she needs to act like she wants to shag him in the future rumba and AT - I thought their paso on 2 days' training was good but not that passionate, no.

I think Brendan was a legitimate King of Ballroom - loved many of his quicksteps, waltzes and Vienneses. But Anton and Erin are still absolutely wonderful.

I think Monkseal has hit the nail on the head about Oti - she has milked Kelvins hips to death now! He needs to do some good ballroom dances to show he is an all rounder and I would leave the salsa till quarter-final/semi final as that is surely going to be a sure fire crowd pleaser!

I've just frightened myself by listening to 3 hours of true ghost stories in radio 4ex, I'm looking forward to tonight's Strictly, at least it'll be fun
