I think he did pull it back in the Tango this week to be fair.

If Johannes seems too good for his partner then he isn’t doing his job property. It’s the job of the pros to make their partners look good and quite often they’ll “dance down” so as not to highlight the gap between them.*

It is his first season in Strictly with a celeb though, Giovanni has form for this, but he seems to have toned it down now.

I was just thinking about Giovanni last week with Michelle in the Samba/Salsa? He went far too fast for her and I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. He was amazing of course, but he definitely showed up his Celeb.

I like Neil too. But if you look back these threads there's loads bashing him.

I’ll stick my hand up and say I don’t like Neil at all. I find his facial expressions really smarmy and I don’t think he’s got the best out of his partner at all.

Re the bashing.... on Saturday night an otherwise seemingly sensible poster made a comment about AJ being repulsive. Some people ARE truly repulsive; ie perverts and paedos, but isn’t this a dance show we’re discussing?

No one on it is “repulsive” whatever we think of them or their dancing. Not sure why anyone would make a vile remark like that. Imagine how family and friends must feel, coming across comments like that.

I think I'm the only person on here who likes AJ. I think he gets the absolute best out of his partners, he did really well with Lauren last year I thought.

I think Neil (though obviously an incredibly talented dancer) was felt by many to be a bit OTT in personality in previous seasons so we were a bit wary of him being more annoyingly attention-seeking once he had a partner. However our worries seem to have been unnecessary on the evidence to date.

I am a bit ambivalent about AJ although I have to say in the last couple of weeks he has grown on me. He just seems like a nice lad.

Last year I remember people clamouring for Neil to get a celeb. I had no idea who he was as his presence had passed me by. I've still not really noticed him 😂 I didn't notice Johannes last year either but he has landed with a bang and is so full of energy and personality that I think he is great. I also think he is a great dancer but I really lack the skills to judge that properly. Absolutely bog all to do with being "cool"

I think the only pro I haven't really liked at all was Brendan.

Can I join in and say that I also like AJ! I actually like him more after watching him on celebrity Hunted this time last year. He was not at all how I expected and Louis Smith, who he was paired with initially didn't come over nearly as well.

I'm afraid I also don't get the fawning over Johannes. Yes, he's an amazing dancer but I find him and his partner immensely irritating. She seems so false.

I don't think there's anyone I dislike in the dancers. Some of the celebs irritate me but I'm in awe of the dancers, just love watching them.

I'm a huge AJ fan, always have been.
I'm seeing him in his tour next year aswell as SCD live.
He makes my Saturdays.

Schmitthecat2 - don't be so obtuse yourself. Your riposte - "it was a MAN" - is EXACTLY the point. I was pointing out how incredibly wearing it is that a man gets fawned over for doing what women do week in week out with no-one giving a shit.

Or, to couch it in terms you might understand, Amy was dancing in flat shoes on Saturday. Where's all the love for that? It's a WOMAN dancing in flat shoes!

I've never taken to AJ (don't really know why, just find him annoying), Neil or Johannes (the latter two seem smug and very pleased with themselves).

It doesn't mean they are no good and it doesn't make me a bad person. We all have our own opinions and like and dislike different things and people. That's just human nature. As long as you don't go overboard and needlessly trash them, it should be fine.
