SCD 2019: Who let the 10s out?

GrouchyKiwi · 19/10/2019 19:22

Ringers and dad dancers ahoy.

OP posts:
awaynboilyurheid · 20/10/2019 09:50

The mike and Katya salsa did not work with that music and really highlighted how poor he is , time to go , even David J was better and seems at last to be actually enjoying himsel
Thought that dance really suited Alex Neil did v well to choreograph it so no hip action needed as she struggles with that.
Saffron leaves me cold and was that a camera shot of her other nan last night ?, talk about milking it ! Michelle Visage, could also go, I have a feeling she is a right madam ( being polite) in real life.
Enjoyed Alfonso but I've always liked Bruno I find him v funny and he does quite often give razor sharp advice on the dance.

ElspethFlashman · 20/10/2019 09:58

I think Michelles big strength is that she's a very evocative dancer, for a non-actress she can really emote. I am always transfixed by her when she dances.

But she's one that actually needs a Nan in the audience to make people care about her.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 20/10/2019 09:59

Round of applause for the title grouchy

Kelviteer - am over him (when was I under him)
David - jive talking, telling him lies last week
Catherine - noone puts Birdie in the corner cage
Karim - bahahahaha. Fast and furious is movie week (actually fast and furious or days of thunder could have gone to Kelviteer)
The song disses men who were dissing women but sleb twaddle back in the day was Katie Price claiming Posh Spice and other wags sang it to her when she entered clubs. We have paedo Jonathan King to thank for this musical atrocity.
Michelle - sniffing clothing is never ever going to be a good look. Smelling hair also goes into this category.
Also of all the dances to dedicate to your daughters, the rumba is a weird choice. Hey girls, me trying to simulate sexy smoulder for someone other than your dad is all for YOUUUUUUUU
Emma B - if that's on 2 days training and 1 day rehearsal, that was underbloodymarked
Alex - despite my reservations on the song choice, they styled it out. One of my favourites of the night even if Neil was outdancing her. The music was Pump up the Jam not No diggety. The jazz version is on youtube.
The Viscountess - hated the dress, thought her frame worsened as it went on and was hugely overmarked. Maybe I need to go to Specsavers.
Mike - Fresh Prince of Bell-end
assume producers foisted that on them because of AlfonzoWarz (I luffs him, no I watched him every night, I'm his biggest fan etc etc) StrictlyStanning to a weird degree
Will - I left the room to make a Brew as I don't like the song so I missed the set up when I viewed it later. As contempowaft goes she did the heavy lifting, I assumed in places he was the little boy and she was his mam, it was 6s/7s. When I rewatch it with the vt it will probably be totes emotes. Blame the poster who said a younger Marc Almond as he is now as that is all I ever see, you sod! Wink
Preferred Jonnie Peacock's approach to the show
Chris - skip to the loo. Karamo did it better on DWTS. The headteacher's deadpan 7 made me smile. You just know he's got 500 more votes from the schoolkids though, bless
Talking of...Saffron - old school. Caned it did not work though AJ unless you gave her hard drugs and alcohol beforehand.

What happens if you're just an ordinary joe with no inspiring story or cute babies or beloved nan?
Showmance/fauxmance
Cannae dance or ladette to lady journeee
Stannery for your pro ahem Susan
More training vts
Random link, you used to work at Tesco, let's go and dance at Tesco
I am ordinary, ded normal me, man/woman of the people #RELATABLE (thanks Monkseal!

Theromanempire · 20/10/2019 09:59

Watching Saffron last night reminded me a lot of when Jay did his jive. Before it, they had looked very average and then, seemingly, out of nowhere they pull off an amazing dance with technical perfection (Saffrons arms and heel lead steps were so good) which makes everyone question if they had previous training. It turned out that Jay did and I bet Saffron has too! You don't get technique like that overnight Hmm

I might be biased as I don't like these social media peeps being classed as celebrities old fuddy duddy alert but I know the youth see them as such. My DS bumped into a youtuber that he watches last year (not an official meet and greet - just randomly in a football/trampoline park) and he was properly star struck. He had his photo taken with him and still has that as his phone wallpaper! So I guess they are their generation's equivalent of popstars/film stars Hmm

SoupDragon · 20/10/2019 10:02

I imagine there is a good chance Saffron has done dance before - lots of girls do dance as children and I guess the ability to move properly stays to a certain extent. I don't know if she's done stage school dance training though.

SoupDragon · 20/10/2019 10:06

Talking of...Saffron - old school. Caned it did not work though AJ unless you gave her hard drugs and alcohol beforehand.

I've read that 3 times and can't make any sense of it 😂

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 20/10/2019 10:10

Soupie Dragon - AJ said she had caned it instead of nailed it. Whereas caning it is usually having a heavy night of drugs, drink and debauchery.
You can nail a routine, you cannot cane a routine although Erin and Oti in Misses Whiplash mode probably try.

PestoCaffeinisto · 20/10/2019 10:13

Not only has Saffron been dancing since she was 3 but her parents converted their double garage into a studio for her. It has since been converted into a gym for Darren her dad.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 20/10/2019 10:16

My children feel the same about Youtubers they watch @Theromanempire - they're bigger and much more important to them than actors or singers. Only football players are held in higher regard by them Blush

I really hope Mike goes as he's not good and Katya really bugs me! I agree with the pp who says they're transfixed my Michelle - I am too. She really emotes when dancing and I find her very sexual and alluring to watch. Hope she gets the votes to stay.

Also agree with pp who said the singing is poor this season - it really is, as are the music choices generally. Please please bring back beautiful dresses and music that goes with the dances. All too frenetic and not appealing to watch IMHO.

EvilRingahBitch · 20/10/2019 10:33

Placemarking for the elimination show. I think we’re still just at the stage where people in the top half don’t need votes, even with the ties on the leader board, so I voted for Catherine (loving her partnership with Johannes even though the dances aren’t all that), Michelle (might be in real danger with a weak dance in a poor slot but I think she’s got more to offer, especially for Halloween), and David (I can’t help it, he’s adorable, and I’ve fancied him for decades).

Desperately want to ditch Mike who is cringe-making, and very much No Ed Balls. Today is the day when we find out whether the GBP agree with me or whether they think he’s hilarious Confused.

SoupDragon · 20/10/2019 10:56

Ohhhhh.... Now it makes sense! I couldn't read it in any way that made sense before 😂 I guess "caned it" was a reference to the props though.

SoupDragon · 20/10/2019 10:58

On the subject of You Tubers, they are definitely the same as TV stars for the youth of today. My 3 watch loads of them rather than TV shows.

Figgygal · 20/10/2019 11:14

Faves were Alex and Karim

I did like emma and aljaz too

Mike or DJ surely to go this week

pinkteddy · 20/10/2019 11:35

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross 100% agree about the judges. Although I think/hope Motsi might get better. I’m convinced if Len was still there Aston wouldn’t have gone home (Shirley’s first year) and perhaps not Dev either.

Theromanempire · 20/10/2019 11:50

I'm also disappointed in Motsi Sad the first couple of shows, she was like a breath of fresh air but now she seems to say a lot without actually saying anything Confused no constructive advice at all.

ConfCall · 20/10/2019 12:54

Yes, I have been disappointed in Motsi. I’m a non dancer with limited knowledge, so I would prefer constructive, technical comments rather than the sort of instinctive feedback that I would make myself!

Mike was not at the bottom of the board but nonetheless I think he should go. That dance was a joke, and unfunny to boot. At least David and Nadija produced a proper dance, albeit rather poorly. Then, I’d say that David needs to improve pretty drastically for Halloween in order to stay any longer!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/10/2019 12:57

I thought Alfonso is becoming a bit of a joke tbh. I mean I quite fancy him so it's hard for me to be objective but it can't have escaped notice that the past two years he's turned up for a fat fee, talked absolute bollocks, given one vote higher than Shirley with every contestant, and leaned back, full of self satisfaction.

Agree with everything here except the fancying bit Elspeth - but it wouldn't do for us all to like the same type.

I think he's become a self-satisfied tosser. I never thought I'd want Bruno back, but I doooooooo!

last year when all the tech went tits-up during the swingajiveahopathon or whatever it was, DH and I were fascinated to notice that it was actually Bruno who took control of the judges, sorting everyone and their bits of paper out, while Tess and Claudia flapped around making things worse. He is a lot more switched on than the character he plays on that panel.

I'd forgotten that LivingBoy - but you're right!

DOUBLY want Bruno back now!

And I agree with whoever said Craig should have been given the role of head judge.

And with whoever said that Motsi is proving a disappointment - but at least it's a disappointment not at daggers drawn with Shirley.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/10/2019 13:02

I might be biased as I don't like these social media peeps being classed as celebrities

Same here!

Wingedharpy · 20/10/2019 13:11

PestoCaffeinisto : Are you Saffron's next door neighbour......or her builder?

Samcro · 20/10/2019 13:26

I would love to know where abouts Safron lives (pm me if you know) just nosy as she is from my city.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/10/2019 13:39

The Master's Voice

monkseal.wordpress.com/2019/10/19/strictly-come-dancing-17-week-5-performance/

Encyclo · 20/10/2019 15:20

Totally agree with Monkseal. He articulated something that was really bugging me last night. Why give David a jive after his breakthrough week last week?

He's 100ft tall and was always going to struggle in such a fast moving dance. Feels like a bit of a stitch up.

Wolfcub · 20/10/2019 16:04

Monkseal spot on again there were rumours of a David James strictly romance this week I wonder if they are trying to can him before it happens

ElspethFlashman · 20/10/2019 16:45

Chris’s A- butt doing a D+ quickstep

Happy to see I'm not the only one who was riveted by Chris Ramseys arse last night.

Goodness but the trousers are tight this year. Mike's trousers looked like they had been made for Joe Sugg. I mean, I know he's lost weight but come on!

billysboy · 20/10/2019 17:04

it would be great to see the bbc publish the voting figures
