Previous thread here.

Those saying you’re shocked Dev went - how many actually voted for him? I looked back at Sat night’s comments and only one person said they voted for him. Unfortunately he was high enough up the leaderboard that people seemed to have assumed he would be safe, but not high enough to actually save him if he got the lowest public vote.

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2019 12:42

True Chessie It's annoying because I would have but they won't accept a call from Fr. Apparently people were having difficulty voting anyway in England.

ChessieFL · 14/10/2019 12:49

ppeatfruit can you vote online from overseas?

I’d heard that some people were claiming trouble voting but haven’t seen anyone on this thread say they tried to vote for him and couldn’t.

I’m not too bothered he’s gone. While I do think he had more to give than some of the others, all his dances apart from Aladdin were really forgettable and whenever I tried to recall who’s in it he was always the last one I remembered. To me he was just too forgettable.

www.hellomagazine.com/film/2019101479063/strictly-come-dancing-james-ola-jordan-verdict-week-four-dev-dianne/

The Jordan's blog on this week is up.. I actually agree that the judges comments about Kelvin were too much.

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2019 13:09

I'm very careful of what I do online, I'm a security freak Grin I do hardly any links now.

There are a lot of medium talented contestants on this year, it's difficult to choose between them , they all seem pleasant too, that's possibly one of the reasons Dev. fell between the lines so to speak. There's not much to choose between him and Karim for example.

CassandraCross · 14/10/2019 13:12

I think the costumes and staging didn't help Dev and Dianne, it all just melded into one bizarre red moving blob.

Unlike others I think Dev deserved to go in the Dance Off. Either through shock or disappointment that he was there he didn't seem to me to be really trying and danced it worse than the first time, Emma on the other hand seemed to have the attitude that if it was her last dance she was going to enjoy it and I thought actually improved by being less cautious.

As others have said the public don't vote couples out, they vote for who they like and want to see again. I do agree that the marking was all over the shop and that is what causes the issues rather than the voting patterns of the public. Also agree that there seemed to be a very odd atmosphere in the Show and I just can't be doing with all this over emotional weeping and wailing, it's a dance/entertainment show fgs.

Weaponised Nans is genius, wonder if that is one of the criteria the Producers check for before selecting contestants!

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2019 13:33

Yes Cassandra I haven't been very impressed with the staging , especially the lighting this year , it gets worse. The dancers disappear into the weird lighting sometimes.

The programme is called Strictly Come Dancing fgs not "Let's see what clever effect the lighting department can dream up this week".

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2019 13:37

The phrase "Less is more" seems to be deliberately ignored Grin

More like "Lets throw the kitchen sink at it and see if it sticks" if it doesn't throw more Shock Grin Hmm

ElspethFlashman · 14/10/2019 14:07

I didn't see anyone vote for Dev tbh. Or Emma W.

People seem to be voting for Chris Ramsey in droves mind you. His personality seems to be going down very well. I've seen his quip "Let's have a look at the leader board!" mentioned a few times, I swear that sentence alone won him a ton of votes!

lynsey91 · 14/10/2019 14:11

I much prefer Dev to Joe Sugg.

I didn't vote for Dev because I only do the 3 free online votes. I hoped he was high enough up to be safe and I was worried for Chris so gave him a vote. I gave the other 2 to David because I just didn't want to see him in the do for the third week running and didn't think he deserved to be there.

I thought Will was probably the worst dancer but would like to have seen Mike or Michelle go. I can;t take to Michelle at all and don't get why the judges rave about her dancing

DarlingNikita · 14/10/2019 14:16

I agree, LaserShark, the whole tone and atmosphere was very weird this week.

I am a bit shocked about Dev-gate. I didn't like the dance or the music, and I've no dance knowledge, but I thought he upped the energy and rhythm in the DO. I thought the same about Emma but that Dev had the edge in terms of attack. But the judges said Emma was more accurate, and I can't comment on that.

Bottom line though is I won't miss Dev. He was pretty unmemorable as a character. Sorry Dev.

Alex knows she's dodged a bullet. She needs to up her game now in a big way.

lynsey91 · 14/10/2019 14:27

I didn't think Dev danced worse in the do. I thought he was smiling and putting a lot into it. I certainly thought it was better than Emma's

EggsFried · 14/10/2019 15:59

I gave Dev 3 votes- I'm gutted he's gone Sad I also voted for Chris, and it was him I thought could be more in danger with his position on the leaderboard. Like others have said though, I think Chris is more popular and may have got more votes for being in a vulnerable position (third from bottom?) whereas Dev wasn't very memorable this week and was in a more lower-middling position that people may have assumed would be safe.

kazzaD66 · 14/10/2019 16:17

I'm not sure how it can be assumed that Dev (or anyone else) is safe when they are fourth from bottom on the leaderboard. That is in the bottom quarter at this stage of the competition.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/10/2019 18:30

I liked him, but if I were listing the celebs this year, he'd be one of the later ones that I'd think of. It doesn't help that he and Karim were in the same Strictly niche — young, enthusiastic, not a household name. Probably going to get a storyline about how they thought they'd prefer Latin, but are actually a ballroom boy...

It was basically an early week cha cha to a song that nobody particularly loves/hates, and there was nothing really memorable. I thought it was quite good when I watched it, but it didn't really stick.

Omg Artem is doing choreography corner tonight!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 14/10/2019 19:01

(and tomorrow)

Yes, exactly this. Just bad luck, really.

Mrsjayy · 14/10/2019 19:18

Oh ARTEM you say . I'll be catching that on I player Grin. Is he still with Kara thingymabob

Theromanempire · 14/10/2019 19:30

mrsjayy no, they didn't last long! As far as I know, he is with an American ex-WWE wrestler that he danced with in DWTS a couple of years back but they may have split up or it may have been a publicity stunt

Mrsjayy · 14/10/2019 19:33

WWE wrestler what Shock

Horehound · 14/10/2019 19:42

you can't say "oh I didn't vote for him because you only had 3 votes and wanted to save two other people" and then be upset when someone you didn't vote for goes!!

xsquared · 14/10/2019 19:51

you can't say "oh I didn't vote for him because you only had 3 votes and wanted to save two other people" and then be upset when someone you didn't vote for goes!!

Of course you can. It's called empathy. Diane and Dev hugging each other at the end was the most heartbreaking thing I've seen on Strictly.

I'm not fussed about Dev either way but their departure was very sad.

Mrsjayy · 14/10/2019 20:05

Mibbe Dianne was weeping because she would have to go back to just a Joe insta story Grin

Encyclo · 14/10/2019 20:13

Artem is with Nikki Bella. She's a bit of a reality superstar now, former WWE diva. My dd loves her so I know way too much about her.
