Away on "holiday", and DC flew out to their GP for the weekend this morning, DP is working (it's mid morning here) and I have all the time to myself!! Tempted to binge watch.

Has anyone started watching it? I am on the first episode and I am finding it interesting although not sure why they changed Tench's wife? Curious to see how this season will compare to the first which I extremely enjoyed.

I've just watched episode 1 and am hooked again, though didn't notice the wife swap Blush.

I'm not going to be able to watch with my DH for a few days, so I'm going to take a pause and secretly rewatch season 1 as a little self indulgent treat, until we can resume Season 2.

Oh, how knowledgeable I'll be, DH will be impressed at my memory Wink

Shelvesoutofbooks · 16/08/2019 23:48

I'm on episode 5. Grin

Brot64 · 17/08/2019 00:05

I am also at episode 5 now!! Had to literally drag myself out doors and intact with people for a few hours lol. The actor playing Manson is brilliant! Although still find the Kempner actor fantastic!

I watched the last 2 episodes of season one before starting season 2 just to refresh my memory!!

I have so many things I want to mention but will refrain from doing so seeing as @ChaosTrulyReigns is yet to start watching. Smile

No no! Chat away!

I'll be strong and stay away.

DD yesterday landed herself a Psychology and Criminology Course at university - so this stuff is fascinating for us.

Brot64 · 17/08/2019 00:31

@ChaosTrulyReigns

congratulations to your DD!!

I am also fascinated with these kind of shows. I was only going to comment on an incident that occurred with Trench's son. Was wondering whether he is developing the characteristic of a killer based on what he did on one of the new episodes. Wondering whether Netflix is going down the route of showing that the hunter can have a killer right in his home and not recognise it.

Just binge watched all of season 2. Loved all of the interview scenes with the serial killers, with Berkowitz (Son of Sam) and Manson being highlights. Plus Kemper, of course. Not spoiling anything, but no, Ford never does learn when to keep his mouth shut or how to read a room. All of the political complications with the Atlanta child killings are fairly true to life.

Don't know how much folks in the UK are familiar with BTK, but yes, he really did dress up like his victims, and take photos of his strangulations--he was/is a sick puppy.

Think that I'll wait a bit until more people have watched the whole season to discuss the Tench family situation.

ememem84 · 17/08/2019 04:13

Oooh had no idea there was a second season! Yay!! Thank goodness for Netflix and maternity leave!!

Shelvesoutofbooks · 18/08/2019 19:09

Is the tench family situation real or fiction?

Brot64 · 19/08/2019 13:10

@Shelvesoutofbooks

Looked it up. It's fictional.

Is Nancy then he the same actress in season 1 and 2? It looks like it's the same actress but she's had a nose job?

MaureenSowerbutts · 20/08/2019 11:06

I am on episode 8 and can't wait to continue watching. It's the casting I find extraordinary!

LoafEater · 20/08/2019 12:05

I am loving it. Watched 5 last night in one go and and plan to waste the entire afternoon today also!

Cocolapew · 21/08/2019 09:57

I finished it last night, watched it in 2 days. The Atlanta murders are horrendous, how could they let that go on for so long without doing anything. Well I know why tbh. Awful.
Definitely the same actress playing Nancy, I find her a bit rubbish, wish they would change herGrin

Congratulations to your DD Chaos, how interesting!

Brot64 · 21/08/2019 10:40

Finished it last night. Loved it, although much preferred season 1 for some reason. I find season 1 had a more in-depth analysis of the killers' minds.

Yes it appears Nancy is actually being played by the same person. Had read somewhere that they swapped her but clearly I was wrong. What to watch this evening after such a good series?

Was the reason they didn't carry on with the prosecutions lack of evidence, the fact that he was in prison for life anyway and they didn't want the hassle or expense of more trials, the fact that the community were still convinced that it was a set up to cover up for the cops and KKK? But yes you do get the sense that had those children been white and of a better neighbourhood, more would have been done and quicker.

MaureenSowerbutts · 21/08/2019 20:58

The Atlanta police have just reopened the cases. The new mayor and chief of police have said they want all items of evidence retested.

Would be wonderful for all those parents to have a definitive answer.

I only have one episode to watch, I don't want it to finish. I do think the shift of focus from the interviews has changed the whole feel of this series though.

cheesydoesit · 24/08/2019 21:45

I read that Brian's actions were based on a similar event.

cheesydoesit · 24/08/2019 21:47

Yes Maureen, I agree that the lack of interviews changed this series, for the worse for me.

Shelvesoutofbooks · 25/08/2019 00:46

I agree @MaureenSowerbutts @cheesydoesit

I feel like the season ended too quick and bot enough tension. The interviews were what got me into the show in the first place. Hoping season three is more interviews and less drama Grin

Starrynights86 · 25/08/2019 00:50

I enjoyed season 2 a lot more then season one, glad Debbie is gone! I really enjoyed how it ends, not your traditional close to a case, and I’m interested to know where the are going with the btk killer seeing as he wasn’t caught until 2005.

Londonlassy · 25/08/2019 01:01

Loved Season 2. Thought the ending was brilliant. Tempted to rewatch season 1 now

blibblibs · 25/08/2019 01:09

We've just finished and I thought it was bloody good.
We googled and the Brian story was actually real just not the BAU (Trench) son.

BitOfFun · 26/08/2019 04:06

@blibblibs, where did you find that? I've been searching, but all I've found is an article saying "“Mindhunter” is an interesting beast because it’s, basically, an adaption of real events — while Holden, Wendy and Bill are fictionalized versions of real people. Bill Tench is based on the real BSU’s Robert Ressler, and while Ressler had three kids — a son and two daughters — Bill only has one. And no, as far as we know, Ressler’s son Aaron did not witness the murder of a toddler when he was a kid. In fact, I haven’t been able to find any real instance of one child murdering another that matches what happened on “Mindhunter.”

billydilly · 26/08/2019 18:58

My, that was good. I agree about the interview deficit though. I missed (if that's the right word) Kemper, such a hypnotic portrayal, I also thought Ford's mental fragility might have been revisited as the series went on. Still pretty great though .
