Next year, I hope they get nicer people. The bullying and nastiness at various points has ruined my enjoyment of the show. The only current people who haven't behaved badly imo

Maura
Ovie (absolutely adorable guy)
Molly Mae seems nice enough
Ditto Tommy
Jordan's a good guy
Joanna seems reasonable enough

The others have all shown how viscous and spiteful they can be. Anton seems nice much of the time but I think there is more to him, perhaps a more unpleasant side.

MoominMantra · 15/07/2019 07:37

So really, it's easy to see why MM and Tommy will win and it's because they're the only couple who are actually into each other (at the moment anyway) and who haven't been nasty at some point.

MajesticWhine · 15/07/2019 07:41

@FrustratedTeddyLamp don't bother. You can save yourself a lot of time in your life. You can just pick it up from now without having missed anything important.

It's an absolutely load of drivel and .i honestly wish I hadn't bothered but I do find it quite addictive.

icelollycraving · 15/07/2019 07:50

Every time they say shopkeeer, I keep thinking of Mr Benn. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone referred to as a shopkeeper for about 25 years and I work in retail Grin

ooooohbetty · 15/07/2019 08:22

I agree that Michael finds amber attractive but just because she's all sweet and nice at the moment doesn't mean he doesn't remember that she was hard work and stroppy when they were in a couple.

Bluntness100 · 15/07/2019 08:26

Past contestants said last week that they’re told what to do/say constantly in there

No they didn't. The only person who said they were scripted was apparantly Amy for her leaving speech only. Past that every single contestant has said they are never told what to say but they are told go and speak to x y and z kind of thing.

All these posts about how it's fixed and boring, these posters are not just watching it, but then taking the time to come on and say that. So clearly they are hooked. Makes no sense really. If you find it dull or think it's fixed stop watching it and stop posting on here. Because watching it and posting on here shows you find it anything but dull. You're addicted.

Is it fixed, no I don't think thr producers give a toss who wins. Is it manipulated, absolutely for the max drama possible.

They create situations to make it as watchable as possible, but what occurs in those situations, what they say and do, is totally down to the contestants. And every single contestant who has been on it, ever, has said that.

As for Michael I suspect he might also leave with Joanna to prove a point, he's incredibly stubborn. So he will be torn between wanting to do that and wanting to stay in. He'll want both so will be interesting to see which way he jumps.

Chipstick10 · 15/07/2019 08:27

icelolly I too work in retail. I haven’t heard that saying since I was young and that’s going some.
Cannot stand Amber and Anna they have shown themselves to be bitchy and flash all the way through. I would be so uncomfortable as a female around them. I am not particularly good at standing up for myself and they would make me feel bullied.
I hope Michael leaves with Joanna. It’s like he is being forced back with Amber and for a week now I have been asking what are they seeing in the villa that we are not because he doesn’t seem interested in Amber at all. They keep telling her he wants her back. Bullshit.

Wrongdissection · 15/07/2019 08:33

We’re all assuming that it’s Joanna who is going to go. If they decide between themselves then Michael might do the gentlemanly thing and insist that he sacrifices himself and leave.

TitsInAbsentia · 15/07/2019 08:41

Be no point in either of Joanna or Michael staying unless they are prepared to couple up and I don’t see that happening. As others have mentioned he seems very stubborn and she’s just dull.

I think at this stage we can ask for someone for Ovie or amber as much as we like but the producers already have their stock of extra islanders and chances are they don’t have anyone for them.

I would love amber and Ovie to win - let’s proves girls and boys can be friends without anything sexual, and champion that friendships are more important than banal chit chat with someone you wouldn’t even entertain in real life. However I feel sure the producers will force the Islanders to vote them out in a “which couple do you feel has least romantic potential” way, am sure it has happened previous years.

fraxion · 15/07/2019 08:48

Belle's behaviour was total way over the top. If that wasn't a red flag I don't know what is. I really liked her up until that blow out. If Michael is true in that he's not interested in Amber then he will leave with Joanna if she's the one that's going.

AuntieStella · 15/07/2019 08:48

'I think at this stage we can ask for someone for Ovie or amber as much as we like but the producers already have their stock of extra islanders and chances are they don’t have anyone for them.'

Agree

But it doesn't stop the hoping.

DD wants to be 10 years older so she could meet him in RL (not necessarily LI) and it not be creepy. If Ovie is forced out, in way suggested above, then I think the programme might lose quite a lot of viewers. I guess the producers might do that, but it's high risk to keep your viewing figures if you get shot of the most popular character - esp when that character is popular across whole age range of viewers.

(I'm not so bothered about Amber. Though I think they might be trying to free up Michael for her)

SharedBluePlanet · 15/07/2019 08:49

I have a suspicion that Joanna will make some heartfelt declaration that she will leave and insists that Michael stays - so he can ' figure out where his head is really at' with regard to the Amber situation. If it is 'meant to be' then he will miss Joanna and will want to leave and it 'will work on the outside'. If he really does have feelings for Amber that are unresolved then 'he was not the right one for her anyway'.

Deeply suspicious Michael will remain in the villa and we will have a week of 'will they or won't they' get back together....

I am with Anton in the Belle situation. I don't think he is only concerned of what others think of him - the way she reacted both during the challenge and after was a massive red flag for me. They have only known each other a couple of weeks but she flew off the handle. I couldn't be with someone like that either. He was clumsy but he didn't have bad intentions and she really went for him in a public way. She would be a total nightmare to go out with and he can see that and wants rid.

ILoveYou3000 · 15/07/2019 08:52

Yep agree with Bluntness and it's getting tedious that every other post on here is calling fix and moaning about how boring, scripted and fake the show is.

Scripted? No. Manipulated and directed? Absolutely.

It does seem as if anytime anyone appears to threaten Tommy and Molly-Mae winning, something is done to sabotage. Anton and Belle we're getting lots of positive attention, so now that's been sabotaged. Amber and Ovie, loads of support across social media and now it looks like it's being manufactured so Michael can stay and that he and Amber will recouple. They won't win in that coupling.

We should start a campaign to make sure Ovie is kept in and then make him the winner no matter who he's coupled up with.

But for whatever reason it seems the powers that be have decided Molly-Mae and Tommy are the chosen ones this year, and are doing everything they can to make sure they win.

GeriAtric · 15/07/2019 09:13

When it was the season with John and Hannah (I think) Callum Best went in and took the boys to a club. An actual club with actual people in (although, they probably weren't random people, probably wannabe contestants. One of the boys took a couple back to the villa didn't he? 😂) That wasn't a club last night. They may as well have left them in the Villa.

I can't work out if everyone can hear each other's conversations. Did everyone hear what Amber was saying to Michael? Because when he came back to Joanna she was really whispering to him and it seemed like she'd heard the conversation.

None of it feels real anymore. The producers are really ruining it.

BadHairDyeDay · 15/07/2019 09:20

I'm feeling mugged off! So one minute Belle is having the most over the top over dramatic nuclear melt down temper tantrum with anton over basically a stupid gaffe and next thing at the dumping they're standing there with their arms wrapped around each other like nothing ever happened 🤯.. So what has happened in the meantime? It just doesn't make sense! So much must be happening behind the scenes now that even the producers don't know what's going on. I mean even as a love island viewer I feel my intelligence is being insulted! Confused

SweetMelodies · 15/07/2019 09:24

Yes the powers that be have definitely decided MM and Tommy are winners... just makes the final really boring. Viewers surely want at least 2, even 3, couples who have a chance of winning.

MM and Tommy are ok. A bit dull and like others I’m not 100% convinced of their relationship. I think the only ones gushing over them and declaring ‘couple goals 😍’ etc are 16-year-olds.

BenWillbondsPants · 15/07/2019 09:27

Belle went massively over the top. I get the 'loyalty' thing and Anton misjudges massively and acted like a twat, but for the love of God it was ridiculous.

She didn't exactly behave like a 'respectable woman' when she was screeching like a banshee in front of everyone. It was embarrassing.

On another point, Anna was loving every single minute of it. That's not nice.

SharedBluePlanet · 15/07/2019 09:28

I think both Belle and Anton had an 'oh shit' moment when they realised they were in the top 3 popular couples voted by the public. They realised they had been doing well and were liked and had just blown it.... I sense they will both back down, decide that this was 'their first big test' and come back stronger than ever Grin

BenWillbondsPants · 15/07/2019 09:28

I think the only ones gushing over them and declaring ‘couple goals 😍’ etc are 16-year-olds.

Agreed.

Wrongdissection · 15/07/2019 09:42

Thing is in series 1 the couple who were together from the start, even got properly engaged on the show( !!) Didn’t win. And there was a friendship couple in the top 3.

Wowee465 · 15/07/2019 09:56

Catching up with last night and feel really sorry for Amber.
She seemed to be in a reasonably good head space (not over him, but trying to mentally move on) even saying how good her and Ovie's date was and then she's basically been pressured into her talk with Michael by all the other girls. They're definitely the ones who are keeping it dragging on and it's just got her hopes up for her to get pushed back again.
Hopefully this manipulated dumping will mean she's forced into it now as can't see Michael staying whatever happens, either he's the one who goes or he will follow Joanna.

Dickybow321 · 15/07/2019 10:23

Just watching Aftersun. Caroline looks fantastic. I don't understand what people are criticising!

Dickybow321 · 15/07/2019 10:27

Michael definitely fancies Amber, but he's turned off by her personality and has said it's done, so I don't know why everyone is forcing him to get with her despite his protestations 🤷🏼‍♀️

Gummybear11 · 15/07/2019 10:28

Agree Belle was way over the top, the public nor Anton want to see towie style drama scenes surely. It's so embarrassing and disrespectful and I can understand why it's really put Anton off. Comes across as trashy to be honest.

MargoLovebutter · 15/07/2019 10:32

Blimey, I was really surprised with Belle's plot loss in the bar. I had thought she was a cool customer, who played a clever game and had Anton wrapped around her pinky - but she just came across a bit unhinged in the bar. Anton came across like a prize dick too.

Amber should have stuck with her gut and not listened to the girls. She knew deep down Michael was interested. However, she managed to say her piece with some dignity and he wasn't a twat about it either.

Was secretly glad Anna got so many pies!!!!!
