That's not a surprise @OytheBumbler - men do what they like & women have to do as they're told.

TeaStory · 14/07/2019 22:27

I think June has finally twigged how big this all is...

Invisimamma · 14/07/2019 22:27

The imagery at the end...June presiding over her army.

MoobaaMoobaa · 14/07/2019 22:27

as a PP said last week in the first season every little thing was thought out and had a meaning. this is so all over the place.

ThomasRichard · 14/07/2019 22:28

This series is just irritating. The tension has evaporated into boredom.

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 14/07/2019 22:30

I have no idea where this series is going to lead. I felt sick when I saw Ofgeorges mouth. Where does that come from? Because didn't the original writer say that something that was important to her was that everything that happened to women in the story, has happened to women in real life?

InglouriousBasterd · 14/07/2019 22:30

Yes to June and her army! The way she joined them like their leader.

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 14/07/2019 22:31

Also was the DC commanders wife Esme from Twilight? Grin

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 14/07/2019 22:31

I can believe that it has happened @ComeTheFuck0nBridget

MoobaaMoobaa · 14/07/2019 22:32

thinking about ot they would still deal with Nick, if it gave them information.

unless Nick sat and denied everything and professed his love for Gilead.

TheFirstOHN · 14/07/2019 22:33

My TV only recorded up to the point where Serena revealed Nick's past to June, and we had the little flashback of Nick's previous career.

I now need to wait until 11pm to watch the last part on 4+1.

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 14/07/2019 22:33

I've not seen Twilight but she was in Greys Anatomy for a while a few seasons ago as a patient with no face & memory & Alex Karev fell for her.

MoobaaMoobaa · 14/07/2019 22:33

ComeTheFuck0nBridget yes! she is I just couldn't place her until you said.

Triskaidekaphilia · 14/07/2019 22:33

There were some interesting parts of this episode but I felt like not much actually happened. Too many episodes end with 'June stares into the camera angrily' Grin

EmpressLesbianInChair · 14/07/2019 22:33

With the music & the tension building up I was expecting something to happen... another bomb. Or June leading all the handmaids in pulling their covers down to show their mouths. But they were never going to risk showing it live.

And if Canada give in over Nichole, what else will they be pushed to give in on?

Roussette · 14/07/2019 22:34

It just raises so many questions. Why was she allowed to stand and stay at the Lincoln Memorial. Why is she stood with the Waterfords at the end, she is not an important handmaiden, there is no hierarchy with handmaides. What was it all about. She isn't even their handmaiden...

MoobaaMoobaa · 14/07/2019 22:35

we had the little flashback of Nick's previous career

no that was him going to the front.

CanILeavenowplease · 14/07/2019 22:35

So all those handmaidens....just from the Washington area? I had never really considered how many there might be. But that many was way more than I might have guessed. Wow.

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 14/07/2019 22:35

That's true @Roussette but I thought this was being filmed as propaganda for Nicole, so she needed to be there with them.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/07/2019 22:36

The only thing I liked about this episode was the Washington commander having loads of kids. That was a nice touch.

Roussette · 14/07/2019 22:39

They came across as a normal sort of family at first glance, but then there's their handmaiden with a stapled up mouth...

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/07/2019 22:39

I just don't think any of it makes sense as propaganda. You would get the international community on side by making the Waterfords look relatable and domestic, not by emphasising the handmaid aspect which is just going to make the rest of the world harden against them even more.
Nobody outside Gilead really believes the handmaids are there willingly, surely.

TheSpottedZebra · 14/07/2019 22:39

So is nick still with the resistance? So him on that plane of heavily armed commandos is Something About To Happen?

WiltedDaffs · 14/07/2019 22:41

Stapling their mouths shut reminds me of Scold's bridles en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scold%27s_bridle

CruCru · 14/07/2019 22:41

This is a bit irritating. I’d be amazed if somewhere like Gilead (which sprung up overnight from a set ideology) had such different customs between DC and Boston. In DC the Handmaids must stay silent (and have their mouths stapled if they won’t - we aren’t told that they’ve all had it done, only that Ofgeorge has) while in Boston they get to gossip (although there are sometimes crackdowns). How would the DC handmaids cope with a Birth? All that “Breathe, Breathe, Breathe, Hold, Hold, Hold” couldn’t happen.
