I agree. It wasn't against him (I saw a head injury TV drama years back, think David Tennant was in it and it must be pretty tough for all concerned) but you will need a pro that won't, as you say, take any crap.
(it's an interesting one though, his wife will know how he has changed but anyone with no comparison will be getting to know who he is now which might just mean he is now a bit more of an impatient sod like I am by nature but wasn't before...I do keep meaning to buy their book).

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 12:42

I'd like Amy to get Chris. She deserves someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously and will be fun to teach (They all deserve that but Amy paid her dues last year).
I can never decide who would be best for Karen but would like to see her with Karim I think.

Chris Evans backing out was allegedly to do with his knee not being up to it. I don't know - he was keen to do it so his wife could see the show live each week, he must know already the money is comparatively crap with other opportunities (Mel C confirmed it), he does have an ego/know his own worth but must realize from the Top Gear debacle he is like marmite (although I read Zoe Ball's radio audience has dwindled since she took over): add a poorly knee to that and you do have to ask what's in it for him? It's a show you really really really must want to do for you if you don't need to do it and he doesn't need to do it.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/08/2019 12:54

I'm looking forward to seeing the first show and meeting them all properly. I don't really know any well (was the sports journalist the one who fell in the pool whilst interviewing a swim team?).

You often end up liking ones you don't know though — Austin Healey was one that I didn't know anything about, and he was probably my favourite within about a fortnight!

covetingthepreciousthings · 06/08/2019 12:57

(was the sports journalist the one who fell in the pool whilst interviewing a swim team?).

Whose the sports journalist?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 13:00

Yes, he was Polka (still adore your user name, it's so dreamy). I was the same about Dr Ranj last year.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 13:00

Bushell, not Gary.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 13:03

Mike. That's the one. Mike.
Self-proclaimed duffer and Chris Hollinsy.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 13:26

Ah okay, they've officially announced Alex Scott (perhaps in response to panning about the line-up) so am safe to put it here now.
I imagine the male pros will be wanting to be paired with her - my money's on AJ for a first final storyline, provided she can actually dance of course.
3 to go.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 13:30

Need [drink] for the inevitable Football and table tennis props. Maybe Jennifer Gibney's mamma mia boat will be dragged back out.
Movie week - Bend it like Beckham? (do your thing)
Katy Perry - Roar?
Writes itself!

Theromanempire · 06/08/2019 13:46

Yeah Mike Bushell is a buffoon! And I am guessing totally uncoordinated...but not afraid to have a go at anything!

I going for Alex for the win...she won the Sports Relief version so clearly has the ability to move and is young, fit and attractive.

But James C has the best 'storyline' if things pan out for him (and he keeps his temper in check) so I think the public would root for him.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/08/2019 13:53

I reckon they'll put Saffron the YouTube chick with AJ. He had a sportswoman (Lauren) last year.

Footballer Alex with Gorka perhaps?

ppeatfruit · 06/08/2019 13:55

Is Alex Scott The One Show presenter? I like her. Maybe a bit OTT but she seems nice.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 06/08/2019 14:23

No. One Show Alex is Alex Jones and I think has done Strictly before.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 15:02

Alex Scott is a former lioness - women's England Squad defender and played for Arsenal.
Alex Jones danced with James Jordan (did quite well, left me cold)

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 15:09

Gorka might well be hoping for a middler/duffer with a newborn baby I am probably projecting that said, with so many having had some kind of dance experience (acc to Monkseal, I haven't looked) there might not be obvious duffers and the older females already have a fanbase. Makes for an interesting series again.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 15:15

Oh Lordy, yes. Had forgotten about her. Yep, she's young. He's vain. Cue lots of videos a la Joe. If they do decent training videos then I'll probably be won over. I wonder whether Curtis's antics on Love Island will affect how viewers see his brother (my gaydar's completely kaputt on both counts).

ppeatfruit · 06/08/2019 16:10

Thanks Rage can you tell I'm not into sports regardless of the sex of the participants Grin It'll be interesting to see if she's a dancer\ringah or not.

ppeatfruit · 06/08/2019 16:11

No one answered my question about whether the judges are going to 'train' them? Does anyone know?

OP posts:
unique1986 · 06/08/2019 16:37

I've seen Alex a bit on tv and she seems kinda cocky and annoying.
Should in interesting.

unique1986 · 06/08/2019 16:39

Alex Scott was presenting the one show briefly tho.. random cover maybe.
With the BBC they like someone a la Stacey or Ore then put them on every show going for the next couple years.

unique1986 · 06/08/2019 16:41

She's also someone that doesn't suit really short dress. Well having a quick glance on YouTube sport relief dance.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 17:39

Do you mean the judges' mentor dances for the final four OP? (it will be four so maybe the semis?)
If following the DWTS version, the judges will come up with concept/help with choreo and maybe dance a bit. Hang on, I'll find you a couple of examples.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 17:49

Judges' team-up challenge (ah, I've misremembered that it was with another couple, it may come earlier then or instead of a cha cha challenge pasodoblathon etc)

a team-up dance with another couple that was designed and coached by one of the three judges: to avoid favoritism, the judges did not score their own teams.
Bruno (did some same sex choreo)

Len Carrie Ann

That was from 3 years ago when they first introduced it in the US but I note they do it in Oz too.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 17:53

Craig's most recent one on DWTS Australia.

Good Lord. I think Craig is reprising his Miss Havisham from Annie there. I can't look.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/08/2019 17:56

Here's Tristan's (I am still a big Tristan fan bless him)
