Welcome one and all Tennis

How to get to play on a show court-

1)Be Federer or Serena
2)Be Kyrgios
3)Be playing one of the above
4)Be 'the partner of ' Andy Murray
5) Be Andy Murray
6) be drawn against a Brit.
7)Preferably be male.

That is the Wimbledon scheduling formula, from what i have analysed

(only the Gauff match has really bucked this trend).

PrivateIsles · 06/07/2019 12:58

I've just been reading about some French fans who queued overnight for Centre but were so far back they had no chance of tickets - they put a SOS out on social media and Lucas Pouille sorted them out with tickets Smile V sweet. I guess he'll need the extra support playing "King Roger" on centre xx

Hard to imagine Keith 'having a drama' Grin

Raahh · 06/07/2019 12:59

Aww, that's nice of Pouille.

Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2019 13:02

Ah that’s nice of Pouille Private but yes he’ll probably need all the support he can get!

Just seen a quote from Paire saying “the atmosphere displeases me greatly and I’m glad to leave as soon as possible” about Wimbledon - bet he’s gutted to have won his last match Smile

I like the centre court scheduling formula Raahh Grin

Raahh · 06/07/2019 13:02

My scheduling analysis did not take in to account Konta, and even she isn't always that favoured in the schedule (might change a bit if she progresses). She's played on 1 and CC this year- but that hasn't always been the case, and she has been the number British woman for a while.

PrivateIsles · 06/07/2019 13:02

Raahh Grin spot on re the scheduling.

Keith is a bit unexciting to watch, bless him. I suppose you can't criticise, as he just gets on with the job, but still - his game is just nice and steady.

At the start of his match today, the ump told them not to smash their racquets on the ground as it damages the court, and Johnson said " don't worry about Kei, he's never smashed a racquet in his life" Grin

*number 1

Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2019 13:03

Yes Keith only has very boring dramas Grin

Raahh · 06/07/2019 13:04

PMSL at Paire- I love him.

What upset him this time?Grin Why can't he be on a show court- he's proper entertainment- and often involved in some of the best long matches.

Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2019 13:05

Ooh all the sporting heroes are there today - Sue loves this! There are still some empty seats though - probably still lunchtime for some.

PrivateIsles · 06/07/2019 13:05

the atmosphere displeases me greatly Grin
What's up with him?!

OP posts:
Raahh · 06/07/2019 13:06

Keith is treated like an absolute super star in Japan. Ca't imagine him out partying though. Bet he's looking forward to the Olympics. I've never been his biggest fan, but I hope he stays fit for that.

Oh Sue is praising all sorts of other sports people. I do like middle Saturday.

Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2019 13:07

I don’t think he said it this year - I imagine him stroking his beard while saying it - it was probably after he’d lost.

PrivateIsles · 06/07/2019 13:09

Yea - isn't he one of the richest athletes because of all his sponsorship etc in Japan? The Olympics is going to be a big deal for him isn't it?!

I wonder if he and Osaka will play mixed in Tokyo?...

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 06/07/2019 13:10

Oh I see Fizzy - yes perhaps he takes it all back this year! He has a good chance for the QFs.

OP posts:
Raahh · 06/07/2019 13:10

Private now that would be lovely. I'd like that.

Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2019 13:12

Yes he might be doing a bit of backtracking if he goes any further Grin

Zoeputthatdown · 06/07/2019 13:13

Ready for Barty and Dart. Shall cheer on Harriet but like Ash.

Adelie0404 · 06/07/2019 13:17

Sue completely overexcited by “superstars in the Royal Box”. No Sue, we’re here for the tennis players. Don’t give a toss about celebs (this has been said before but I have to say it again!)

Raahh · 06/07/2019 13:19

Barty used to play cricket.

I never knew.

Grin
Raahh · 06/07/2019 13:23

I love Barty- was watching the Last Leg last night, and Adam Hills was so incensed by the column inches given to the likes of you know who and Tomic. Made him ashamed to be Australian.

But Dart will relish this opportunity - I'm glad she's getting the chance (for once my scheduling formula is a bit skewed , as Barty is the world number 1, but is also playing a BritGrin).

Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2019 13:31

Serena has been bumped to the red button by Andy Murray and others.

A fly past just went over the court - AC was in his element.

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2019 13:33

Serena bumped again. Bloody hell.

Whoops75 · 06/07/2019 13:40

I’ve got no red button
I’m raging the doubles are being shown on the main screen.
