Curtis is just acting his age. Drop any 21 year old into a situation where they’ve dated someone for 4 weeks and that person is now declaring their love and claiming they have no future without the other and watch them run!

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 05/07/2019 10:41

‘You are

  • talented
  • fabulous
  • amazing’

Things I’d say with heartwarming authenticity to a dog that could balance a ball on its nose.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 05/07/2019 10:42

@Birdrib Curtis is 21?? Looks about 28

ProteinshakesandAntonsAss · 05/07/2019 10:42

@Liskee thank you. Always good when someone agrees with you Grin

The Amy situation is weird. I dont like what I have seen of her. I got an odd vibe from her parents as well. In my head she has been pushed and pushed in a direction that tells you looks are everything. Family paying for cosmetic surgery, the beauty pageants. Because her parents have a very set view if what their daughter should be. Pretty, demur and, at least, semi famous. They have revealed in getting their mugs on TV on the back of her.

But I do feel for her, because Curtis had no need to do this. He went into the villa spotted the girl crying our for a good love story, never had a serious boyfriend, came across as very soft and nice. He didnt see her. He saw that they could be last years Dani and Jack. He thought he would automatically populate because he is kind of low key famous already, like Dani was.

He assumed that the public would like her and knew she would be easy to convince his feelings were genuine. Then it got away from him. She was what he thought, but came across as a bit of drama queen (they stole my thunder drama and kissing challenge drama), came across as a bit bitchy (though that could be editing) and not a lot of people liked her. She also caught far to sweep up in their love story. He tries to slow it down by asking her to be a half girlfriend. He dodnt want her getting to know anyone else, but didnt want to commit. Not committing was fair enough at that point. But he would have been better saying it was early days, let's see how it goes.

I am not an Amy fan and think she got far too carried away, ignored ther warning signs and really should take some responsibility. She cant be that unaware of her own self, to know she wasnt emotionally strong enough for this and gets overly invested. I used to be like that but I knew I was and took steps to change to protect myself. But I would feel for anyone that goes through this on national TV, whether their choice or not.

Curtis could have been a grown up and put the brakes on far earlier. He only has done so, because the only thing he wanted Amy for was to win. Now he knows that's not going to happen, he has broke it off. But, on the other hand he could have taken the cowards way out and begged her back.

I spotted ages ago he kept calling her talented. I am not saying she isnt talented or that everyone else in there is more talented than her. But what talents is he talking about? I havent seen anything that would make me label Amy as 'talented'. Is that a compliment he gives other dancers?

I found it odd at the time. I hope Amy finds someone genuine in there. But I suspect leaving maybe be better for her. I cant imagine how hard it will be for her to see him with someone else.

(I really don't like the unkind comments on people's looks - Amy, Caroline, Jordan etc.). I don't like the look of some of the enhancements such as lip fillers and hair extensions, but every single one of them has beautiful looks.

ProteinshakesandAntonsAss · 05/07/2019 10:46

Oh and I was very impressed with Ovie.

If a woman said what he said, people would be applauding her.

Also, Anna didnt even tell him the full truth. I imagine it will be done, from his side, when he finds out she thinks its disrespectful to Jordan to touch and kiss Ovie infront of Jordan. But quite happily had a cuddle in bed with Jordan.

If Ovie calls it off with her and goes with Amber, I wonder how Anna and Amber's friendship will pan out. I think Anna will be quite upset if Ovie ends it. I think she is enjoying attention from both (which is fair enough) but her ego might be dented if Ovie says 'yeah, I am not interested' but them cracks on with Anna.

I thought Curtis was almost 24?

Apologies I’d read on this thread that he’s 21 but he’s actually 23:

inews.co.uk/culture/television/curtis-pritchard-love-island-2019-cast-dancer-aj-brother-strictly-come-dancing-professional/

‘he likes “blondes and an athletic body, not too fake and somebody that respects themselves.”’

Oh dear.

Munhu · 05/07/2019 10:48

To be fair to Amy, Curtis did love bomb her a bit at the beginning. On their date after after that blindfolded kissing game for example he really laid it on thick. I thought it was obvious that he didn't actually believe any of the things he was saying to her but she obviously swallowed it up.

I think he did like her at the very beginning but as she revealed more of her personality and more attractive women came in, he probably started having second thoughts. He knew established couples have a better chance of winning though so he stuck with it and carried on with his act and continued to sell himself and Amy as the perfect couple.

The public vote and the tweet game made him realise that he wasn't going to win with her anyway so he now has no reason to continue with the act and his bizarre behaviour over the past few episodes is him trying to end things without looking like the bad guy.

Amy's reaction is quite extreme but if she does have genuine feelings it's understandable- he's basically lied to her for 4 weeks. But as a 23 year old who probably only went in there for a crack at the 50k prize and fame I bet he's freaked out and feels completely out of his depth. Which is why he's being so weird. Or maybe he's on the verge of coming out of the closet. Who knows.

alfie22 · 05/07/2019 10:51

Not sure if it's already been said but Amy has left the villa!

ProteinshakesandAntonsAss · 05/07/2019 10:53

Just read that Laura from last year left for counselling, both times she was dumped. Once by wes and once by Jack.

I didnt watch until Casa Amor last year so didnt see the Wes dumping. But from what I remember Jack dumped her because she told him it easnr working and she wasnt interested. Then changed her mind and he wasnt having any of it. I dont see that as him dumping her.

Not sure if it's already been said but Amy has left the villa!

I cant see it confirmed it's a permanent leaving though. The article I read said she is still in the show. Just getting some outside support. She may go back in. Laura left briefly twice last year apparantly.

Birdrib · 05/07/2019 10:56

Yes it says she briefly left for counselling.

SweetMelodies · 05/07/2019 10:57

I don’t think Amy is cut out for LI at all :(

I really hope she finds someone else in there

alfie22 · 05/07/2019 11:01

She should leave permanently for the sake of her mental health

Yamayo · 05/07/2019 11:03

Having seen her parents on This Morning I am not surprised Amy has self esteem issues...

SharedBluePlanet · 05/07/2019 11:09

I think from Curtis perspective being 'Talented' is a massive compliment- he is a dancer where they are being judged on talent all the time. It is something you would say to a colleague though not a lover. I guess it shows he really just sees her as a colleague.

InsertFunnyUsername · 05/07/2019 11:19

I bet Curtis speech about Amy being talented fabulous etc is his pep talk he gives himself 😂

Even that, most girls with their head screwed on would think what the fuck is he talking about i have only been sunning it up in a bikini around a villa, not exactly showed off my talents?

WhatMeghanWants · 05/07/2019 11:26

Really impressed with Amy and Amber last night. Handled themselves well all things considered.

Love Jordan, Anton and Tommy. Wish Anton would go for someone else though.

I thought Lucie was fab to start with, but is getting increasingly boring and her Ken doll just looks lost.

Curtis - I think it goes to show that that it's impossible to keep up an act over a prolonged period on reality TV. Same for Michael actually, who has definitely shown his true colours. Curtis seems vacant and must be in turmoil hence his thought process and conversation making little sense.

Yamayo · 05/07/2019 11:26

Yes his compliments are oddly generic school report.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 05/07/2019 11:28

Also is it just me or does Anton fancy Lucie.....

fraxion · 05/07/2019 11:29

I bet Curtis speech about Amy being talented fabulous etc is his pep talk he gives himself 😂

Yes! You can just imagine him standing in front of a full length mirror repeating this mantra.

ProteinshakesandAntonsAss · 05/07/2019 11:42

But what talents is he talking about.

Can he actually list them? And what talents has she shown him?

I think it's even worse as they have 'done bits' too. Amy said she wouldnt in the house and then did. He did it but didnt even fancy her.

Imagine, even I'd you chose to put yourself in that situation on Love island. Putting that much emotion into someone and having you both doing bits on national TV, to then find out that person doesnt even fancy you?

OP posts:
SharedBluePlanet · 05/07/2019 11:44

He probably already sees himself in the role of a strictly judge 'darling I have said right from the start you are fantastic and incredibly talented. I am just not sure you have got what it takes to make it to the end. If you continue to work on it and put trust in your abilities you may have a future in this competition'

WhatMeghanWants · 05/07/2019 11:55

SharedBluePlanet Grin SO true!
