I did hear them saying earlier ( before the commentary got too much and I turned over) that new rules mean she can only play 5 tournaments over the rest of the year before she turns 16. Then it increases. This is, presumably, to prevent what happened to the likes of Capriati, who was burnt out at a young age.

But she isn't 16 til March.

Yes, Kyle was probably very happy to resign the skeletons to the back of the wardrobe for a bit.
