FIRST LOOK is up!

MoominMantra · 28/06/2019 14:09

I think Jordan realised that on Love Island if someone asks you a question, it's best not to lie.

MoominMantra · 28/06/2019 14:10

I think Anna is beautiful without make up but she's not a nice person. Perhaps because of her insecurities.

Louise0701 · 28/06/2019 14:13

FIRST LOOK!

Maura - “helloooooo Dennon” haha I love her

whatstheissuewithproducers · 28/06/2019 14:16

Long time Mumsnet user but name changed for this. I'm really intrigued to know why there seems to be so much "issue" with the producers? I ask because I am one of those people and have worked on this show (not this series) and many others of this kind. So when people
say the producers fixed this or did that - are you meaning you think they just ignore the vote and do whatever they want? Because you know they are not allowed to do that right? and years ago various people lost their jobs for fixing things. You know they don't "script" conversations. But they "produce them" which isn't the same. So they might tell someone where to have a conversation. Or encourage someone to speak up. Because it's simply impossible to film every single area and every single person all concurrently. And everything on this show - like many other series - is done at huge speed. So what you watch today only happened yesterday and they have managed to edit it in that time. If you think of other series you watch - that aren't reality - they spend (as an average) 10-12 weeks in an edit PER EPISODE. So if someone doesn't do anything interesting they don't intentionally ignore them. There just isn't time in 24 hours to include someone. It's not a fix. But it is tv.

RozHuntleysStump · 28/06/2019 14:17

Anna looked so much better before. It's such a shame, it really is.

Yamayo · 28/06/2019 14:18

I don't think Amy is sweet.
She's very possessive and controlling- we have seen her moments of 'crazy' when Curtis says/does something she doesn't like.
Her telling the girls she couldn't wait to introduce her nieces to Curtis was bizarre.
Surely no-one is that detached from reality????

I have to confess I find people who have already planned their wedding very unnerving. Grin

fraxion · 28/06/2019 14:29

I think Anna is beautiful without make up but she's not a nice person.

Anna definitely does look better without makeup, her lips look absolutely awful with that glossy lipstick, not to mention the total over use of highlighting/concealer under her eyes.

minou123 · 28/06/2019 14:31

I'm so looking forward to tonight. I enjoy when they send the postcards from the other villa, and gets them all riled up (sorry is that mean Blush)

Louise0701 · 28/06/2019 14:34

No @minou123 it’s honest and I like it too

unique1986 · 28/06/2019 14:34

whatstheissuewithproducers

It isnt always the day before, often two or three days behind.
There is no episode on Saturday, they have a day off>>

I assume you never worked on Big Brother, hundreds of cameras in there.
And stuff did not have to look or slick and produced with filters, and re shoots done.
Even two years ago in Big Brother, they do no get told where to sit and who to talk about.
Shock horror they show convos that happen without interference.
As humans are able to interact without being told what to talk about.

whatstheissuewithproducers · 28/06/2019 14:43

Yes - some days it's more than a day behind. But mostly not. But you take my point - it's not 12 weeks in an edit. And it's got nothing to do with the amount of cameras. All of these programmes have multiple cameras. This show and Big Brother. And all other reality shows. But they don't record every camera all of the time. That's impossible logistically. There are only so many cameras a gallery can cope with. So the producers have to choose areas. If every single contributor was in a different place it wouldn't be possible to record them all and then edit it. I wasn't trying to be inflammatory I was curious as to what the issue was. This isn't scripted reality - like TOWIE and MIC. Which are scripted. Yet don't seem to get the same "what are the producers doing?" as this does.

Zampa · 28/06/2019 14:50

Everyone's so paranoid about being manipulated that they call out supposed manipulation, so they don't seem foolish when it turns out to be true.

I don't get what's in it for the producers for one couple to do better than the others but do think that they'll work to ensure ratings stay high by keeping in certain characters.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 28/06/2019 14:54

@whatstheissuewithproducers

I don't think anyone is accusing producers of straight-up ignoring the votes, but manipulating them. For example if normally the bottom 2 couples would be up for elimination, but producers want Tom to go home, and Tom and Maura happened to be in 4th - they would now make it the "bottom 4" and get islanders to vote, knowing that islanders always vote off the newest person.

Same with that vote to get Joe/Elma out - seems like they wanted a good way to get Joe out, but not Lucie, so they staged that vote with the islanders about "least compatible" just after Joe had had doubts, to get him out.

Let's not pretend that viewers are dictating what's going on. If they were, Amy and Anna would be OUT.

On another note, TOWIE is scripted??? I thought they just told them what to talk about. They actually read lines off a film script like actors?

ProteinshakesandAntonsbum · 28/06/2019 14:55

I think Danny really liked Arabella, they both modelled for ASOS and he may have already knew of her from her ex.

Danny doesnt know her ex. According to her ex he met Danny once at an event.

whatstheissuewithproducers you are coming across a bit defensive and a tad condesending. People dont need explaining that scripting and producing arent the same thing. Though it's interesting to hear from someone who claims to have worked on the show. I am sure you actually did, but its sensible to not tale everyone at their word, if you see what I mean. I hope that doesnt offend you

Alot can come under 'encourage them to speak up' that's essentially making sure certain things are said.

Most people dont believe its scripted but do know that editing and the producers 'encouraging converstations' happens.

Like last night. So many unsecure couple up for potential dumping off the island. The producers can fix the vote. But they can avoid certain situations.

Like if Tom/Maura and Curtis/Amy were the bottom 2 and they dont want Amy or Maura to leave. They can throw more couples into it. So that the chance of Maura or Amy going out is less.

They can also edit it. Lots of people complained about Amy. And she was all of a sudden not in it very much for a few days. Despite curtis being in it loads.

Its clear Amber and Anna got told to behave after the Yewande dumping as everything was fine the next day, when Arabella sat with them.

Not scripting doesnt mean they dont influence exactly what's going on.

unique1986 · 28/06/2019 14:58

I was just curious why they did not do the bottom two couple or 3 bottom couples last night.
I think we all know why really.

unique1986 · 28/06/2019 14:59

And not everyone has to be in group chats. Nothing wrong with seeing what happens naturally.

cheesytoasters · 28/06/2019 15:02

Might have been mentioned already but isn't there supposed to be a twist this year for casa amor?

Or was it literally sending the girls instead of the boys?....

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 28/06/2019 15:03

Obviously Anna and Amy were bottom 2 last night and producers don't want them to leave because dRaMa

And they also wanted one of Danny/Tom to go, so bottom 4 it had to be...

unique1986 · 28/06/2019 15:03

I wanted Tom to stay. Wanted him to stew a bit more, was entertaining.
And no doubt he would have, if more more saved.

Reith · 28/06/2019 15:07

@whatstheissuewithproducers

I think that’s a bit disingenuous. We know they’re sometimes more than a day ahead, making on evening last two shows. We also know that they get participants to repeat events, like the case of kissing and leaving a table last year, leading to all sorts of hurt feelings.

I think people say “fix” when sometimes the producers put the bottom two couples up for a vote and another time it’s more than the bottom two, because producers want to keep certain people in.

HJWT · 28/06/2019 15:08

There is definitely nothing special about the new girls 🤦🏻‍♀️ honestly I can walk down the street and pick 6 stunning girls what is wrong with these producers 🤣

InsertFunnyUsername · 28/06/2019 15:10

Im bored of Lucie now, so am not overly interested in if she finds a match in casa amor, she'd only mention a million times she gets on with guys more and start crying when people question her motives.

Danny bores me, I want Anton to live happily ever after. Admittedly and this is probably cruel, it would be good viewing if Tommy/Micheal or Curtis do a shock head turn Blush they seem set in couples though.

A couple of articles with some spoilers for tonight. Definitely think Anna could potentially stray, and think it’s unlikely Amber will, but that’s not that surprising.
Will be a let down if Anna’s the only coupled up one to do so as her and Jordan are pretty background.

ProteinshakesandAntonsbum · 28/06/2019 15:34

I cabt help wonder if Yewande is going back.

They have still being using her in the promo bits at each advert. Where it shows one of them on an air bed. I dont recall them using Callum after he left. I might be reading too much into it. But I was surprised they were still using her promo clips.
