New thread unless someone's beaten me to it.

Whatever we as individuals think of Yewande I hope she gets the appropriate support on the outside when she sees social media and has an opportunity to reflect on the past few weeks.

Louise0701 · 25/06/2019 07:29

@Hebdenbridge I too was wondering what’s so bad about a street savvy girl from the north of England?

Theknacktoflying · 25/06/2019 07:31

I could think of nothing worse than sitting in a cut off villa and having to be pleasant and smily all the time to a bunch of people I wouldn’t spend more than a few hours with ...

Some of them just need a few hobbies or a good book ... Grin

Proteinshakesandtears · 25/06/2019 07:33

checkoutno3please I completely agree.

Also given the fact that she has said, herself, she struggles in relationships because she always likes the man and they dont like her. This may give her chance to reflect on why that it is.

She is gorgeous and intelligent. I am sure many men like her. But (assuming she did like Danny from the start) if you like someone, you dont stone wall them and moan about them loudly where they can hear. That will give anyone the impression you dont really like them.

You dont then throw yourself into the emotion once they have had enough and look elsewhere.

I am convince many men are attracted to her. But she doesnt really know what to do with it a d her walls go up once they show they like her. I hope, assuming she wants a relationship, she finds a way to accept someone liking her.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 25/06/2019 07:41

With Danny’s speech starting with how he admired this girl’s intelligence I thought he was going to pick Yewande! Couldn’t believe he meant Arabella🤣

Hebdenbridge · 25/06/2019 07:42

Louise I think these threads are strung through with classism and racism. None of it overt of course, so totally deniable. But it's clearly shaping people's opinions. It's ruining LI for me. I'm out. I'll have to sit and talk to myself about LI 😂

ffaith · 25/06/2019 07:52

**checkoutno3please

Well said. Her ending was pretty intense for her. LI is mainly for worldly young people. Yewande is far from worldly IMO. I think she was knocked well out of her comfort zone. I don't think she's as bad as was portrayed.

fraxion · 25/06/2019 07:53

she was very calm, very honest and behaved with dignity.

No she didn't, her behaviour at the end was extremely childish. I'm glad Danny picked Arabella, he did the right thing. I don't think they will last long but he still made the right decision. Totally gone off Amber and Anna. What's with the hitting thing for god's sake. Absolutely loving Anton.

Talking of the clothes they wear… I absolutely loved the dress Arabella wore on her date with Danny when she first came in, I want it!

Zampa · 25/06/2019 08:05

she was very calm, very honest and behaved with dignity

And all that "how dare he" not pick me shit. How entitled can someone get

I agree with both of these statements about Yewande which is why I am really conflicted about how her character.

I don't know about Danny and Yewande's true feelings but neither seemed particularly upfront about what was going on. I think D messed up when trying to play the two girls and Y did reflect and handled various conversations with both D and A with her head held high. However, her last conversation with D was embarrassing and her how dare him comment was out of order. I'm a bit disappointed in her tbh.

She'll grow up, stay beautiful and use her brains to save humanity whilst hawking beauty products to the masses.

I find amber very immature. There seems to be no nuances to her judgements just good/bad.
Just an observation yewande's closest friends/allies were the Asian girl and the girl of mixed heritage. Just a coincidence I suppose.
Whenever tom or Danny come on my hand(of it's own volition)strays to the remote. Maura's the star attraction for meSmile
Tbf to Danny judging by 2morrow's preview he's a new man with Arabella's behind him.

Zampa · 25/06/2019 08:07

Please don't flounce @Hebdenbridge. We need diversity on these threads as much as LI does in its contestants!

Whenever tom or Danny come on my hand

Rude. 😂

rockingchaircandle · 25/06/2019 08:11

Hebdenbridge definitely agree!
My last thoughts on Yewande, as some people seem determined to put her down, she's not perfect but has so much support overall she's going to be fine without any 'reflection'! She just wasn't able to fake it enough for that environment (to her credit)!

Blankscreen · 25/06/2019 08:15

I've not been on this thread before but I think Yewande just came across as moody and sulky. It may of course be the editing but that is what I saw. When she went and sat on Danny it was just cringey.

I think Amber is just a bitch and I hope she leaves soon. It probably won't.

Proteinshakesandtears · 25/06/2019 08:18

She just wasn't able to fake it enough for that environment (to her credit)!.

I agree that she didnt have to fake anything she didnt feel?

But which bit didnt she fake? She didnt like Danny, then she did when her position was under threat.

She has to have faked at some point. Either the pushing Danny away, moaning to all the islanders about him was fake. Or the over affectionate Yewande was faked.

The reason I am not so keen on her, is because she refuses to accept any responsibility in the situation. Danny said his head wouldnt be turned. I feel she took that as a sign she could treat him how she wanted and expected him to stand by that. When he had, had enough and a new girl came in there was nothing wrong with him getting to know her as Yewande had made it clear there was something g missing between her and Danny.

Yes, Danny was wrong to not be upfront with her. But there's a good chance Danny wouldnt have got to know Arabella, if Yewande hadnt have acted how she did in the first place.

Patienceisvirtuous · 25/06/2019 08:24

I think Yewande was mostly sulky, sometimes unpleasant and I definitely wouldn’t want her as a mate.

Twotome · 25/06/2019 08:34

There is nothing to understand - it is a non issue.
Stop trying to dramatise something that is not there.

Are all LI threads like this? Can it not just be a fun conversation?

Louise0701 · 25/06/2019 08:34

What’s the thing with the hitting I think I missed something?

RagingWhoreBag · 25/06/2019 08:37

Are all LI threads like this? Can it not just be a fun conversation?

EVERY SINGLE ONE!! Someone made a quip about Tommy and we got derailed about racism, someone talked about who may or may not have had surgery and we had pages of shit about whether she’d had lip fillers, nose jobs etc with some posters getting very wound up that everyone wouldn’t take their word for it, now apparently we’re all racist and classist (wtf?!) if we don’t love Yewande and Amber - it’s almost like these threads are a magnet for people who cannot see anyone else’s perspective and think their take on things is the only right one.

BREEZY people!!!

rockingchaircandle · 25/06/2019 08:39

"Just an observation yewande's closest friends/allies were the Asian girl and the girl of mixed heritage." (Who I'll be targeting next...?)
Why do you think you're noticing the things?

RagingWhoreBag · 25/06/2019 08:40

Whenever tom or Danny come on my hand

Rude. 😂

I had to reread that one a couple of times too Grin

rockingchaircandle · 25/06/2019 08:44

So does BREEZY mean ignore any possibility of racism or prejudice? (Or vilification)
Because this type of breeziness might not be light-hearted & fun for some.
If you don't want opinions challenged, don't state them publicly!

RagingWhoreBag · 25/06/2019 08:48

MN have a robust policy on deleting posts which break talk guidelines so if anyone spots anything they think is in some way offensive, report it.

When certain islanders don’t get on as well as others you can start blaming producers/other housemates/the voting public for being racist, or you can stop singling out the black or mixed race people and remember all the white contestants who didn’t do so well either - Lauren, totally friendzoned; Dr Alex, friend zoned; Anton, so far, so friendzoned! There are people in every series who don’t meet anyone who fancies them. Everyone points out that Sheiff didn’t get anyone stepping forward, but neither did Alex last year and only one girl (Amy) stepped forward for Anton and we all love him!

Twotome · 25/06/2019 08:48

@RagingWhoreBag

I just think people are making something of nothing and it really ruins the spirit of the thread.

Theknacktoflying · 25/06/2019 08:53

Breezy means seeing LI for what it is - merely entertainment
It is not making any big social or political ideas and when you have a group of 20-somethings together in a house there is going to be favouritism and personal preference going on .... not to say that it is right/wrong ....
