JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 19:39

Bold fail

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 19:39

Is AC crying?

PrivateIsles · 23/06/2019 19:40

Congrats to your DD Adelie - that's v cute!

Shouldn't be a good party at Feli's with all his Fever Tree hampers Grin

He deserves it. I bet he will have serious cramp later.

Fizzywinegum · 23/06/2019 19:41

I think he could send one my way Grin

Well done especially to Feli - amazing achievement

PrivateIsles · 23/06/2019 19:46

Argh should - so many typos, sorry!

I liked how he didn't even sit down on some of the changeovers - like "if I sit down, I won't get back up" Grin

Yay Feli! Such an amazing achievement. Their faces at the end....so sweet, like they couldn't believe it.

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 19:54

Aww it was lovely mama I'm so happy for both of them.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 23/06/2019 21:38

I loved to see Lopez win the double: the not sitting down made me laugh too - once I sit down, I'm never getting up again. It's a pretty spectacular feat - to have played in all five of the last matches of the tournament. Completely overshadowed by Murray having two hips again, obvs.

I loved the bit in Lopez's speech where he gave a bit of a nod to the age difference between him and his fiancee, about her never having seen him be any good at tennis Grin She looked so happy at the end of the two matches.

Made me happy, today's tennis - no Kyrgios histrionics, no Djok "please love me, people", just really good tennis being played and Andy Murray winning in a sweet happy way, not an angry stressful one.

Obviously we had to endure Andrew Castle but that is to remind us that in each life some rain must fall.

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 21:40

Well put TheOnly. Ever thought of applying for the BBC tennis commentary team?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 23/06/2019 21:59

I tried but could not bring myself to lie on the application form when I got to the bit that asked: Are you able to convey with every fibre of your being and every intonation of your voice that you ask for nothing more than to be able to worship at the altar of Andy, that you quiver in ecstasy at the very thought of his existence, that every second of your time, whether commentating on a match of his or not, is spent composing exquisitely awful fanfiction about him, and that your diary is covered with doodles of "Andy 4 Andy 4eva"?

Well, that last bit was copied directly from AC's application form, obviously.

PrivateIsles · 23/06/2019 22:16

Grin TheOnly love it!!

I really enjoyed today, so pleased for both Andy and Feli.

Andy said that Kiki Mladenovic also turned him down for mixed at Wimbledon - it's tricky when they are in singles and women's doubles as well. It's probably just too much.

It's a good point about that being a sort of un-stressful (ish) Andy victory, but now he's won today, Castle and co will be heaping the expectations on him to win the men's and mixed doubles at Wimbledon. I hope it doesn't get too annoying (what am I saying? I know it will Grin)

The schedule for Eastbourne looks good for tomorrow... and it's on Amazon so no AC!

As much as I've complained about Amazon, I'm starting to wonder if it's actually the best option (once you can find the tennis, that is). No peloton, no voice of doom, no AC Grin

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 22:35

I'll be stuck with the Beeb but since Jim Courier at RG I've become expert at blocking out the commentary.

PrivateIsles · 23/06/2019 22:42

Grin I need to hone my skills in that area. Is it a sort of mind over matter thing?!

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 22:52

I think it's an inbuilt thing. I did it a lot at school Grin

PrivateIsles · 23/06/2019 23:36

Grin it must come in v handy when watching tennis.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 23/06/2019 23:42

Yes but it was not recognised as an essential life skill at school though unfortunately Grin

Raahh · 24/06/2019 07:21

I ended up in bed by 8pm, as I 'm not sleeping well and yesterday on the whole was not a great day- so I amused myself with you comments when I woke up in the early hours.

TheOnly Grin your/AC commentary application was spot on.

We need to get someone to take over from Sue - Voice of Doom. How hard can it be?

'Lovely bit of action there from Court 1, we're just getting to match point.

But you can watch that on channel ThatNobodyHasRedbuttonthatNeverWorks- because now BBC2 will be showing a very important repeat of Eggheads'

PrivateIsles · 24/06/2019 08:56

Grin Or a repeat of Dragons' Den.
What could be more important than that?! (Apart from Eggheads, obviously)

Loved the doubles yesterday and yes, their faces at the end were just complete joy and amazement that they had won.

Also loved the way the crowd were laughing at Mohamed at his pronunciation of Sal-is-bury before correcting him. Having said that, I do think it was a bit rude of him not to have known the correct pronunciation of the name of one of the players he was going to officiate Hmm

Don't know if I'll watch a lot of Eastbourne. The BBC only have the women's event, I think, so it will depend on the matches.
