Tennis thanks Private

I saw Rafa was getting in some practise on grass today looking pretty in pink.

kazzaD66 · 17/06/2019 18:40

Just got in from taking DS to tennis and tried the red button. It is only listing women's football ffs Angry

I bet if it was Andy playing, the BBC would sort it! (No offence meant to Andy!)

kazzaD66 · 17/06/2019 18:41

And thanks for the new thread private Smile

PrivateIsles · 17/06/2019 18:54

Yes it's a bit rubbish - surely they could have put it on the red button?

The schedule at Queen's is a bit lop sided isn't it - the matches seemed a bit sparse today, and then tomorrow is packed with good matches.

Obviously they've purposely arranged that for the day I'll be out most of the time Hmm

kazzaD66 · 17/06/2019 19:36

I see James and Gilles are in the third set. No doubt a good match, but how would we know.....?Hmm

Raahh · 17/06/2019 19:42

Thank you for the new thread!

Had to go out. Again. It is one of those days. Had a rant to my mother about the tennis going off for Eggheads. Now, when is the doubles usually scheduled? It is generally after the singles matches or the day.

Will they not show the Murray match then, if it is after 6?

I can even foresee the bbc1 schedule being cleared for that one!

Raahh · 17/06/2019 19:43

I've seen you had the same thought, re Murray. kazza.
Grin

PrivateIsles · 17/06/2019 19:46

Can you imagine the uproar if Eggheads replaced Andy's doubles match?! And a repeat of Eggheads at that?! Grin Unthinkable!!

kazza it sounds like a good match potentially - both good grass court players so probably nice to watch but as you say - how would we know?! Hmm

It's on Amazon prime too if you've got access to that.

How good was Cameron Norrie? Pity Kevin Anderson's serve is too good. One game was over in a minute and a half!

I've got tickets for Friday so I'm hoping Andy is still in it by then. 🤞

PrivateIsles · 17/06/2019 20:06

Lizzie doh, I do have prime - and knew it was on there, just didn't put 2 and 2 together for some reason! Hmm

Enjoy Friday - you never know, Andy might still be in. That doubles pair they're playing on Wed are really good, but probably better on clay - so you never know!

Raahh · 17/06/2019 20:10

I had a feeling it was on Prime.

I have prime. I hate it. Grin

JaneJeffer · 17/06/2019 20:21

Norrie was very good Lizzie I enjoyed watching him.

kazzaD66 · 17/06/2019 22:03

Don't have Amazon Prime but see that Simon won it on a third set tie break.

Saw a Fever Tree interview with Stan, who said the best moment of his life was when his daughter was born. It's easy to forget he's another Tour dad. I wonder how often he gets to see her, esp given he's no longer with her mother.

Just had a thought when typing Fever Tree.....should we partaking of their beverage this week, to show our support, perhaps with something mixed in? HmmGinGrin

magimedi · 17/06/2019 22:21

Stan has been through so many partners since he's become a father - just wonder how often he sees his daughter & how much input he has in her life? Am sure he buys her Bear but................

Cam Norrie was v impressive.

Kevin even more so.

I slept through lots of the earlier matches as am v tired post visit to family & have tooth abscess that has just got sorted and the pain has disrupted my sleep for a couple of nights.

Off to bed now to catch up on sleep so am ready for what looks like some great tennis tomorrow.

Will be torn between Delpo & Shaggy..........

kazzaD66 · 17/06/2019 22:29

Hope you're on the mend magi

I'm off to bed aswell now but looking forward to some (hopefully) good matches tomorrow.

PrivateIsles · 18/06/2019 08:26

Hope you're ok magi - that sounds awful. Hopefully a bit of tennis will cheer you up.

I'm Envy of any tennis watchers today as I doubt I'll get to see much. There are loads of good matches everywhere - incl Fed v Milkman in Halle which I forgot to include in my thread title - sorry Roger!

Delpo's IG has a video of him doing his washing - well, loading the machine at least Grin

Honestly - shouldn't he have an assistant for that sort of thing? Grin

Feeling much better this am.

Have a horrid feeling that Queens is going to struggle with the forecast rain - shame, as am looking forward to every match.

PrivateIsles · 18/06/2019 09:11

Glad to hear you're feeling better magi

Yes the forecast looks a bit dodgy at queen's early afternoon - should brighten up though, hopefully anyway.

Unusually for me I’m able to watch tennis all day and there are some brilliant matches so it will probably rain Grin

Can’t believe they replaced the tennis with a repeat of Eggheads and it wasn’t on the red button. Aren’t the better matches usually scheduled later? Surely they’ll show Andy Murray - does he play today?

I like your idea of supporting the tournament by drinking fever tree tonic (with a touch of gin) kazza Smile

It’s not actually raining here for once so I’m trying to get loads of washing done and the house and garden sorted a bit before tennis this afternoon (please don’t rain at Queens)

Fizzywinegum · 18/06/2019 10:05

Maybe Zverev can get Delpo to help him out with his chores Grin

kazzaD66 · 18/06/2019 10:06

Private well, I've just put my washing machine on aswell, so we've clearly got a lot in common Grin Glad to see he hasn't got any stray whites in the dark load and that he shakes his socks out before loading - what a pro! Grin

Just started raining here (Hampshire) so no doubt it will reach West London in time for the start of play Hmm

Raahh · 18/06/2019 10:18

My mother has a theory it won't rain near here today, because of the cricket ( at Old Trafford).

I'm not so sure about that Grin. I mean, she's been around long enough to have seen plenty of cricket matches rained off.

And Manchester has it's own unique weather system, where it can be snowing on one side of the road, and not the other. Grin.

I am hoping to get to see some matches today. RL is seriously disrupting my tennis viewing.

Raahh · 18/06/2019 12:03

It's raining at Queen's Sad. I've just found it on the red button, having discovered the coverage on BBC2 doesn't start until 1pm.

With the blue court cover, and the blue boards around it, the court currently looks like a swimming pool.

LizzieMacQueen · 18/06/2019 12:12

Just putting this here for tomorrow.
