Slam titles that should say

Well done Evans. Next stop Wimbledon?

PrivateIsles · 09/06/2019 17:51

Yum, just a light snack of a Grand Slam trophy Grin

Jane he has a wildcard for Queens. If he got a good draw there and especially at Wimbledon, he could do well and move up the rankings. Grass is his surface but it's no good if he draws Federer in the first round!

kazzaD66 · 09/06/2019 17:56

Aahh, Benoit and his hollow racquet Grin

Raahh · 09/06/2019 17:59

kazza I love Benoit and his Beardy Bunch.

Fizzywinegum · 09/06/2019 18:00

Keep the faith kazza Grin

Benoit’s hollow racquet Grin

Feel a bit sad now it’s all finished - thanks for the company and the laughs Smile

kazzaD66 · 09/06/2019 18:03

As Rafa would say......adios amigos! Grin

PrivateIsles · 09/06/2019 18:13

Yes thanks all - it's been a blast, as always!

Loads to look forward to in the next few weeks, I will definitely be hear chatting AC-esque inanities Grin in the build up to Wimbledon.

PrivateIsles · 09/06/2019 18:14

Here, not hear! Sorry getting far too carried away, obviously Hmm

Raahh · 09/06/2019 18:34

Well, Stuttgart starts tomorrow, and Den Bosch.

I will keep an eye on the scores.

And Queen's starts a week tomorrow- so not long to wait for the dulcet tones of AC Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 09/06/2019 18:37

Can’t believe that Queens is only a week away

PrivateIsles · 09/06/2019 18:39

Grin I wonder what kind of seats Queens will have this year? Not long until we find out!! (In excruciating detail)

Ooh yes Stuttgart Smile Zverev is in it, Khachanov and I think Raonic is scheduled to play as well. I wonder if it's on Amazon - no peloton ads! Bring it on!

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/06/2019 18:57

Private it was Queen's that set off the fascination with seats- they had an upgrade last year.

You would have though AC had enough on his plate- what with shoe horning Murray into every sentence- but no, he waxed lyrical about the apparently padded seats (might be wrong about the padding) Grin at length.

He then moved on to picnics....

Raahh · 09/06/2019 19:01

You know, I was thinking about Milos today- when it looked like Rafa would win in 3 long, but close sets. History still record a straight sets victory- but the reality is not always the easy win that suggests. When Murray beat Milos at Wimbledon- it was 3 sets. But it took 3 hours, it wasn't as 'easy' as it 'straight sets' sounds.

Raahh · 09/06/2019 19:03

No peloton ads

A blessed relief. To everyones' saddles.

Adelie0404 · 09/06/2019 19:07

Ladies, thank you! You made l me giggle. I’m a little sad it’s over too. But still delighted for Rafa.
Look forward to more seating details and fashion comments in future.

JaneJeffer · 09/06/2019 19:42

I miss them already Sad

Sad Jane as Bobby Robson once said, this is not goodbye, but au revoir Grin

PrivateIsles · 09/06/2019 19:54

Adelie Wimbledon should be great!

Rafa has every reason to be feeling good going onto the grass.

Raahh · 09/06/2019 19:55

Jane Grin

Aww, look how sad and empty they look.

kazzaD66 · 09/06/2019 20:07

Private Bobby Robson was a lovely man and not a bad football manager either (I was an Ipswich Town fan about 40 years ago, in their heyday)Grin

Raahh · 09/06/2019 20:11

What am I going to do tomorrow???

Nothing probably. Weather is apparently going to be pretty awful, and I can distract myself merrily with all manner of rubbish.

Doctors is still on Grin.

PrivateIsles · 09/06/2019 20:17

kazza oh yes, he seemed so lovely. I saw him at Wimbledon once weirdly! Back in the 90s. That must have been after he was managing England?...

Anyway I think I misquoted him and he said "not goodbye but farewell" - or I might just be making it all up Grin

Raahh it's still that post-Slam feeling isn't it, even with Wimbledon round the corner. Especially seeing all those sad empty seats with not a single 21st century bum in sight! Grin

The weather is supposed to be awful here as well - there was a massive downpour earlier. So glad I spent ages strimming all our ridiculously long grass this morning - lots of lovely rain should make it grow back really fast!! Hmm

I succumbed to getting the local window cleaner/gardener (he's lovely, cheap and cheerful) to hack at our garden just over a week ago. I'd only done it a few weeks before, but it was like a jungle.

it already looks like I never bothered.

When we visited ds yesterday, we were a few miles from Heaton park where the Parklife festival was taking place. It was raining cats and dogs. There were a lot of festival go-ers about. I've never seen so many people under dressed for the weather in my life Grin.
sounds like my gran. Again
