I know!! Cannot wait! I loved the first two series so much Grin

spiderlight · 09/05/2019 12:21

AND it's all going to be on iPlayer straight away, I think, so we can binge if we're so inclined! I think I might savour it though, as it's going to be the last series, and just watch one every couple of days.

I've seen the first few episodes and quite enjoyed them.

Why is it called 'Mum' though? She's only actually the mother of one character and her identity doesn't seem defined by this? Why not 'sister' or 'friend' or 'daughter-in-law' or even 'wife' given that the show opens with her husband's funeral? She seems to be a woman juggling many roles.

Elderflower14 · 09/05/2019 12:32

I've not watched before but have a huge crush on Peter Mullan. Are the first two series on Iplayer??

Pipandmum · 09/05/2019 12:33

It is the last series.

spiderlight · 09/05/2019 12:37

Elderflower - yes, they're both on iPlayer now in readiness for the last series. Well worth watching.

Elderflower14 · 09/05/2019 13:44

I'm resting my bad back today with a day off work. Have started to watch.....

spiderlight · 09/05/2019 15:07

Enjoy! The first episode is sublime. The second is a little weaker, but it gets better and better after that. The subtleties expressed are a joy.

desperatehousewife21 · 09/05/2019 15:48

Yay! Can’t wait Smile

JaynePoole · 09/05/2019 16:12

I preferred the subtitles of the first series. Series two could have benefited from all of the characters having some redeeming qualities. The unrelenting grimness of some of them spoilt it for me.

Elderflower14 · 09/05/2019 17:10

Bloody hell. Halfway through episode 2. Pauline is a class A bitch isn't she??? 🙄

TheDuckSaysMoo · 09/05/2019 17:12

I'm so excited! I thought series 2 was the last!

Horsemad · 09/05/2019 17:59

Love this programme, can't wait for the 15th!

RuffleCrow · 09/05/2019 19:41

I wonder why it was filmed on a set rather than a real street. Those sorts of 1930s semis are ubiquitous all around the outskirts of London. It's a great mock-up but surely it wouldn't have been a huge stretch to film on location?

poptypingchef · 09/05/2019 19:46

The interior was filmed in a studio @RuffleCrow

@Elderflower - your crush will only get worse - he’s amazing in this!

EleanorReally · 09/05/2019 20:40

Yay

Elderflower14 · 09/05/2019 20:50

@popty His voice turns me to a puddle of lust.... BlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlush

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 09/05/2019 21:01

Pauline is a class A bitch isn't she???
Like all the characters in this she is complicated and has many layers. I won’t give spoilers though but you might find you change your mind..... I’m jealous of you watching it for the first time! Watch out for the episode with the bbq in series two. There is a scene Karl Johnson (Reg) does, whilst attempting to eat a burger, that is sublime, an utterly stunning bit of acting.

Elderflower14 · 09/05/2019 21:10

The actress who plays Pauline is fab. She played a very different character in Call The Midwife.
The actor who's the brother was In Londons Burning years ago...

Pauline is a class A bitch isn't she?
O she's my fave character! Life hasn't been kind to her. The episode with Danielle is very sweet. Brilliantly acted too.

OldSpeclkledHen · 09/05/2019 21:39

Ooooh brilliant!

Belindabelle · 09/05/2019 21:43

Best TV Ever.

I have just watched them all again in readiness.
Some of the scenes with Kelly are excruciating to watch and the scenes with her mum are upsetting. I adore Reg and Maureen, especially the burger scene, very poignant. Peter Mullen is sublime in every scene. I could easily watch again. The acting is superb, very subtly done.

SunnyTikka · 09/05/2019 21:59

Ooh I like the sound of this. I’m off to watch an episode or two.
