Not sure i have much more to add to it though. I rewatched the episode and still felt a bit meh!

Yeah I've watched it twice now. I wish Ted had saved himself with some amazing bit of evidence or knowledge,it always seems to be Kate and Steve riding in to save the day

I know Gill implied they had shagged (and Ted's look was possibly one of culpability), but the viewer don't know either way, do we?

I dont think we know if Ted and Gill bonked, but I hope not

I totally assumed they shagged.

If Dot is talking in Morse code and he is only one Dot, then there must be three other Dots. So, we find out characters with names from Eastenders and bingo, there’s the final caddy and this we find the link to H.

Ted’s definately corrupt- he took £50000 - or a pack of sandwiches - to Steph Corbett. Kind, but corrupt.

Gill reminds me of Nurse Gladys Emmanuel. Her bosom is so cosy-looking.

I think the weasly woman at the top (I always miss her name) is a wrong-‘un, and obviously Rohan, too.

I think keeping the £50k behind was deliberate in order to flush out those who knew it was £100k. Both Gill and Mark Moffat questioned the amount of money and Gill referred to "when the rest is found".

I reckon he was going to return it when it was all sorted but then decided to give it to the wife.

It was exactly like 3-2-1. It made no sense at all. Imagine in your dying moments deciding you're going to communicate in Morse code. When did Mercurio come up with that? I can't believe he intended it originally. He must have come up with it during a really desperate moment when he was writing this series.

I'm really hoping all will become clear next series. I binge watched the past series' on Netflix and they seemed more carefully thought out tbh. Still love it though.

I'm still wading through the other thread so sorry if this has been mentioned - is Lise Ryan's mum?
Also, must mention - when we saw Adrian Dunbar live recently a member of the audience gave him a gift and it was a bag of, ta dah, bent coppers ha ha

May I ask why people call her Lise when she's called Lisa please?

When she first appeared, John Corbett repeatedly referred to her as "Lise" but that's a Scouse thing, to shorten someone's name. Anyway, "Lise" stuck till we realised her name was actually Lisa.

At the start of the series, John called her ‘leez’ and it came up with that spelling on the subtitles. Lise could be pronounced ‘Lisa’ eg if it had German roots

I honestly think JM would have been better focusing on a new storyline with each series rather than trying to keep the H thing going and tying himself in knots with it.

Me too. Th s series was pretty dull. Like montage of previous series.

I have been doing a lot of flying recently so I have just binge watched Series 4 again. They definitely re-shot Dot’s confession.

Also - on a second viewing, I had more compassion for Maneet. I forgot she had asked immediately to go on early maternity leave because she felt so uncomfortable about passing on the info to Hilton.

Hilton was v shifty - he organised the assault on poor Steve. Also - there was more discussion about OCGs in series 4 than I remembered (all I could remember was Thandie’s festering arm...). And Ted makes a comment In episode 6 that it was looking like a “life’s work”.

Although Series 1 to 3 are stronger, series 4 is enjoyable (more so than series 5) and I am pleased I re-watched as I think Ted is definitely not corrupt. The way he went after Hilton and stood his ground with Hilton.

But again - re-watching and seeing Jamie (or James as Ted insisted on calling him!) be part of the OCG just stretched incredulity - unless this really does all go in anti-corruption and literally every other police office is corrupt!

BTW - can anyone explain ranks? Are PCs lower than dCs or are they just different?

Ah I see it's 'Lise' as in nickname for 'Lisa'. I was reading it differently.

Police constables and detective constables are the same rank but one is uniform and one is CID I think?
