Let's carry on the fun!

OP posts:

I am guilty of over-thinking LOD.

There’s been a lot of talk about BBC negotiations for further series and I think series 5 may have originally been written to be more final.

If Ted has been exonerated, but forced to leave the Police, the scene where he appears to give the £50k to Mrs Corbett would have been more powerful. Perhaps the note Kate read at the end would have said “we’re off” and Steve would have been hitting the pills a bit harder.

Instead, later knowing there would be a S6, extra bits were added: Dot’s third (and unforgivable) dying declaration, Kate’s (Touch of Cloth-esque) Dot Dot Dot Dot, and Ted being re-instated.

I need to stop thinking about this TV show now, but I can’t, I’m enticed by the glamour!

Maneet actress was interviewed on BBC London today. Apparently they wrote her pregnancy in to the last series as she was pregnant in RL.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/05/2019 00:23

Reporting for Duty, mate.
Was discussing Series with a LoD watching friend & we reckon Roz Huntley (Thandie Newton) might reappear, either in prison or as released (as new evidence shows her fighting for her life via secret video cam in Tim's flat or something far fetched.)
Steve will get addicted to painkillers, Kate or her husband/son will be kidnapped, Brandyce &/or Carmichael is bent. And I don't think we've seen the last of Gill or Lise either.
Poor old Ted will still be saying fella, sonny or darling.
Finally there will be a new villain called Grant.
Actually I made the last sentence up.

Imstickingwiththisone · 08/05/2019 22:55

The whole of series 5 was just unnecessary. AC12 thought they had H with Hilton. But an undercover operation was orchestrated, recruiting someone impossibly having the strangest link to ted Hastings and feeding him lies with the objective of 'finding H' and setting it up to be Hastings. If they'd just left alone then it would still be case closed with Hilton as the culprit.

Even without all the ridiculous Morse code it would now be obvious there is someone else as the Biggelow woman wouldn't have access to all this inside info being leaked to the OCG so this big game plan has come from higher up and she's just been able to influence the recruitment of Corbett and shag Ted to plant evidence.

The first few episodes were gripping though, Stephen Graham is a fantastic actor. Just left with glaring plot holes once he was killed off.

Why aren't Kate and Steve getting together?

30not13 · 09/05/2019 08:13

I'm leaning towards muffins is the top dog imo

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 09/05/2019 09:08

Why aren't Kate and Steve getting together?

I like the fact - and think it's quite important - that they show that men and women can have platonic working relationships where they look out for each other as mates but sex doesn't get in the way (sorry, When Harry Met Sally).

Rollergirl11 · 09/05/2019 09:29

Has anyone asked Alexa who H is since the last episode aired?? Her reply is very funny!! 😂

Davros · 09/05/2019 14:36

theonlylivingboy I totally agree about the Steve/Kate relationship. I would be really pissed off if they got together

"I like the fact - and think it's quite important - that they show that men and women can have platonic working relationships where they look out for each other as mates but sex doesn't get in the way (sorry, When Harry Met Sally)."

I totally agree with you but this is a fiction (I hope!) And I'd like a little romance. Also Steve has got off with almost every one else a few people connected to work, so not sure that him not getting off with Kate proves that point though.

Italiangreyhound · 09/05/2019 16:25

May r it is only me who thought they saw s little fresson back in serious one! ( not even sure that is steal word!)

DarlingNikita · 09/05/2019 16:29

I think it'd be disappointing if they got together. Like when Niles and Daphne get together in Frasier.

Yes, I'm still not over that Grin

Triglesoffy · 09/05/2019 17:15

What if Steve and Kate got together in series 6 and half way through one of them got bumped off? And the knee one was framed for murder? Just as they were about to say “H is........... gurgle 💀 “

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 09/05/2019 18:29

@Rollergirl11 they've missed a trick there. I thought she'd do her reply in morse code!!!

wheresmyphone · 09/05/2019 18:34

Please tell me what Alexa says!

BitOfFun · 09/05/2019 18:36

Her Maj isn't buying Dot's Morse code...

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 09/05/2019 19:19

I'd hate it if Kate & Steve got together! They're too much like brother & sister!
And what did Alexa say?
Siri doesn't know 'H' is or even who Alexa is 🤣

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 09/05/2019 19:59

Alexa says "I'm too scared to tell you, I might end up in Terry's freezer. And now I am going into witness protection for a year while they film season 6"

Still wish she'd just said dot dot dot dot Grin

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 09/05/2019 22:45

She could have said dash, dash, dash : O Grin

Italiangreyhound · 09/05/2019 23:54

DarlingNikita "I think it'd be disappointing if they got together. Like when Niles and Daphne get together in Frasier.

Yes, I'm still not over that"

I bloody loved it when Daphne and Miles got together. I must be an old romantic!

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/05/2019 00:24

Anyone watch Polly Walker in Rome? If you thought Gill was evil...

MsMarvellous · 10/05/2019 06:57

Rome was superb. Might watch it again actually.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 10/05/2019 07:29

Niles and Daphne was the most awful thing to hit TV. The getting together bit was quite fun but should have been the end of the whole thing.

DuggeesWoggle · 10/05/2019 07:38

CraicMammy A Touch of Cloth was great - so close to the mark, it was hilarious! Suranne Jones and John Hannah did deadpan perfectly. Found it on Now TV a few years ago but don't remember it being on terrestrial TV. Definitely worth a reshowing!
