Still no tennis? Sad

I bet the organisers are getting worried about doubling the ticket prices.

JaneJeffer · 15/05/2019 16:32

I think we have got the Roman weather by mistake.

magimedi · 15/05/2019 16:48

Players list out for Eastbourne tennis in June - HERE

I shall deffo go to the first Friday (21st) as it's free & you get to see a lot of practice from the top players & quali matches from the rest.

Depending on the weather I'll probably go again later on.

Raahh · 15/05/2019 16:54

Rafa would probably benefit from his match bring postponed altogether. The rain will have made things heavy and damp, not at all the conditions he likes to play in.

I feel sorry for the spectators though, if no tennis is played .

I went to Wimbledon in the mid 80's on my own, queued up and got No2 Court tickets, watched play at the practice courts, walked back through what was then a big lawn with hospitality tents to Centre Court, alongside Stefan Edberg, who was walking back on his own after practice, wished him luck for his match on No2 Court.......and then spent the next five hours standing by the entrance to the top seeded men's locker room (different location, different times....Confused ) watching players going in and out, whilst trying to stay dry.......cos it bloody started raining before play started and didn't stop for the rest of the day!!!! We didn't get any refunds, although I believe it was not long after that the rule was changed HmmGrin

My point is yes, there is a point! why is the Italian Open still back in the last century when it comes to this issue?

Another here who can't quite get her head round the fact that Dimitrov has to play qualies! Just think what it will do to his mental state if he doesn't come through them!Shock

JaneJeffer · 15/05/2019 18:10

Poor Grigor was supposed to be the next big thing and then the Next Gen came along and left him for dust.

Raahh · 15/05/2019 18:39

Jane Winning the Tour Finals seemed a bit of a poisoned chalice for him- he's barely done anything since.

PrivateIsles · 15/05/2019 19:24

Poor old Grigor. I feel for him. Hope he can get his mojo back.

Meanwhile I've just been watching a Delpo documentary on the ATP's YouTube channel. It was about his latest comeback from injury and featured Delpo in an ice bath, and him being massaged with what liked like a paint roller. Not at the same time btw. It also showed him hanging out with his pals back in Tandil. It was all v enjoyable Grin if you like that kind of thing.

They also showed some old clips of matches, some of which felt ancient - eg, remember when Richard Gasquet made the World Tour Finals?! Those were the days.

kazza that's outrageous - even if you did see Stefan in the flesh! I'm glad ticketing policies have changed - hopefully the fans in Rome will get some better weather soon as well!

Raahh · 15/05/2019 19:58

I've just been reading a very odd article about Kyrgios, and how he thinks Djok has a 'sick obsession with being liked.'

Now, I'm not going to disagree Grin, but it feels wrong agreeing with Nick!

Private Delpo in an ice bath and being massaged - what's not to like Grin

kazzaD66 · 15/05/2019 20:00

Raahh Grin

Raahh · 15/05/2019 20:02

Ooh , Delpo in an ice bath.Grin

someone tell McEnroe

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 15/05/2019 20:31

No one could accuse Kyrgios of wanting to be liked anyway.

Raahh · 15/05/2019 20:40

No, one thing is certain, he doesn't care what people think of him.

Kyrgios on Djok

Not sure if this link will work (it's not the DM- it's the metro Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 15/05/2019 20:42

He certainly thinks highly of himself, though.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 15/05/2019 20:48

Wow that is very disrespectful and I am no fan of Djokovic!

JaneJeffer · 15/05/2019 20:51

I have to admit Metro have all the important news stories though Grin

Raahh · 15/05/2019 20:57

The whole article is very 'shady' as my dc would say. Im no fan of Djok, i do think his obsession with being as popular as Rafa and Roger is bordering on ridiculous. I'm sure it played a part in his spectacular loss of form after his RG win. He won RG- and still no one was falling at his feet.

But Nick should be careful, he such an immature man in so many ways.

Delpo in an ice bath makes me feel like I need cooling. Tennis

Jane [grin Grin Grin

Kyrgios is a twat but he is right about Djok the cock.

Off to my manger!!

PrivateIsles · 16/05/2019 09:19

Blimey that interview!! Shock He really mustn't care what people think. It's kind of refreshing to hear someone be so upfront though - like some of the 70s/80s rivalries or something!

The celebration is painful though.

It's interesting what he says about Andy as well - I can't work out if it's a compliment or not.

PrivateIsles · 16/05/2019 09:22

Looks like a beaut day in Rome today. Verdasco - Thiem already started - Thiem is a break up. But 0-30 down in this game.

The schedule for today is mad - everyone who wins their first match will have to play again later in the day, men and women!! Good luck tournament organisers!

PrivateIsles · 16/05/2019 10:02

Save me from this commentary Grin

PrivateIsles · 16/05/2019 11:08

1 set all Nando and Domi.

Lots of long matches going on - not what the organisers would have wanted!
