Just had a slight panic when I saw the thread was nearly full.

I am now off to check the schedule properly- to see what I'll miss todayGrin

Oh, Sad result for Delpo.

SadSad

Raahh · 08/05/2019 16:21

And Chardy beat Schwartzman.

Not a good day for Argentina!

PrivateIsles · 08/05/2019 16:23

I think Delpo had a match point there as well - I didn't see it (still no broadband Angry) but the main thing is the knee holds up I suppose. He's still in doubles - though possibly not for much longer as they play Murray-Soares.

Vamos Rafa! Although I do like FAA.

kazzaD66 · 08/05/2019 16:38

Just caught up with the latest scores, poor Delpo Sad

Hope your broadband gets sorted soon private I know from experience what a bugger it can be. When we moved here (a village in Hampshire but hardly the arse end of nowhere!) we were assured our landline and broadband would be connected the day after we moved in. A week later......!! Trouble is, this is a bad area for mobile phone signal aswell (whilst I've been typing this on my phone, it's had no bars until the last 30 seconds!) so trying to contact BT was a nightmare - "please contact us on this number or visit our website" - we have no landline, no mobile signal and no internet access because no broadband.....Aaaarrgghhh! Angry As you can tell, after almost 14 years, I'm completely over it Grin

PrivateIsles · 08/05/2019 20:18

Grin kazza ironically, or maybe appropriately, I was typing a post when I was rudely cut off by O2 saying I'd run out of data! Argh!! Our broadband claims to be activated but it isn't. I mean, how hard can it be? Don't they just have to press a few buttons or something?! Hmm It's so frustrating.

Anyway. Hope Rafa won - I daren't check for fear of using up my top up data! Argh!!

Raahh · 08/05/2019 20:20

Rafa did indeed win Private , second set seemed easier than the first (going off the scoreline, and the time it took) but he did have a blip and lost his serve, when serving for the match I think (but broke straight back to win).

Ferrer is 4-1 up against Zverev in the first set (only 1 break, I think) Vamos David!!

Raahh · 08/05/2019 21:08

Oh, Vamos David!

That would be a great result (though Sascha has not been at his best lately). Still, putting off his 'retirement'

He might win the whole thing (if Rafa doesn't of course , I'd love Ferrer to be a surprise winner- he's the same age as Federer, so why not!) Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/05/2019 21:32

Well, I jinxed David good and proper then, didn't I Grin!

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/05/2019 22:11

Aww, I've just seen a clip of the end of the Ferrer match, and I am glad that Sascha gave him his moment (there was no big, air punching, celebration when he won)- and loved the height difference at the net . Grin

Farewell, Ferru. You will be missed.

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 08/05/2019 22:12

Oh, poor David, not the way I wanted his last match to go Sad

JaneJeffer · 08/05/2019 22:45

Aww. I saw a clip of them giving him the bumps. Spanish bumps are much gentler than Irish bumps Grin

PrivateIsles · 09/05/2019 07:49

Ah what a great career David has had. Super player, great value every time you watched him - like Rafa in playing every point on its own merit. Fantastic stuff. I can't believe he played Zverev again though - still, at least he didn't use Sascha's own racquet to beat him this time!

Glad to hear Rafa went through. I see Stan plays Keith later. Stan keeps looking like he's about to put a good run together and then it doesn't seem to quite get going. Hopefully today's the day Bear

We still have no broadband but I'm using train WiFi for all my tasks like updating insurance etc, and the important stuff like catching up on tennis!

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2019 08:18

Such a brilliant player. Always gave it everything. I'll miss him.

magimedi · 09/05/2019 09:39

Just love David & sad to see him go.

Go Keith! I may like Stan's letters but I still don't want him to win.

Raahh · 09/05/2019 16:05

I've just seen the scores for the Monfils match- topsy turvy scoring always seems to feature in his matches!

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 09/05/2019 16:39

magi I'm shocked!! I thought Stan's wise words would have won you over and made you see the allure of the Bear
Grin

magimedi · 09/05/2019 16:49

Sorry, Private - he still doesn't do it for me. Don't like the way he treated his wife & I always think his face is somewhat porcine.

But then I am a real grumpy old woman! Grin

Raahh · 09/05/2019 16:56

It was a good win for Stan today, though, Keith could have been tricky.

Allez! Gael! Tennis

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 09/05/2019 17:02

I would have thought Gael's chance had passed after being 4-1 up but maybe not?! I'm not watching though so not sure how it's going, but from the scoreline a Fed win looks likely... but who knows.

magi ok... but just think of his backhand!! It's a thing of beauty.

Raahh · 09/05/2019 17:04

I'm score watching on the ATP site- the Federer bias even extends to whoever updates their scores- which has just read '2 match points to Federer'. Er, no, he has leveled the set. Idiots.

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/05/2019 17:06

It's gone to a tie break.
I've never liked tie breaks- even when I'm not 'watching' Grin

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 09/05/2019 17:12

They just can't help themselves Raahh Hmm

Raahh · 09/05/2019 17:17

Well, Private Fed plays Thiem next. Who, iirc, was the last person to beat him on clay in Rome 2016.

Dom has come on a bit since then- and leads the head to head.
